From The Blade: In addition, Councilman D. Michael Collins disclosed yesterday that a mural in what is now the market's Toledo Civic Theatre was painted over during the renovation work.

The mural, painted by Cynthia Carlson, an artist and landscape architect, was commissioned about 11 years ago and cost the city more than $20,000.

Whoever approved this commission is stupid beyond the realm of credibility. One, the mural wasn't all that good. Two, the city could have hired local graffiti artists at a fraction of the cost and gotten a far better value for the taxpayer's money.

Then we have this little genius. From The Blade: "We will file [administrative] charges against them," Mr. Reinbolt said. "Then they will have a hearing officer who will make a determination.

"I am recommending suspension for all of them without pay - five days for Ferrara, three for Ringlein, and one for Ken Neidert."

Reinbolt, this is a very dumb move. These men make enough money so that a week long suspension without pay is not going to hurt them. They work for an unstable psychotic in a city government hectored by every talk show radio host who is dying of boredom. What makes you think an unpaid holiday is punishment?
