Jerry Chabler says: WSPD is the most negative influence in the community

When asked about his relationship with The Blade, Jerry Chabler immediately brought up WSPD's role in the community. He said, "WSPD is probably the most negative influence in this community and has probably done more to prevent economic development in the area than any other one media outlet in the community."

that Finkbeiner Kool-aid, Jerry.

You and I both know that WSPD has done what no other local media outlet has had the balls to do - open the eyes of our community to the shenanigans that have been present in local politics for years.

Jerry is a Finkbeiner stooge.

Fred gets Results

WSPD and have been the brunt of a couple of their jokes, they were the first (that I know of) to open up the city, TPS and the county to the people. Before, public dollars were spent without piblic input other than to pass levies. Now at least residents have an option to voice their opinions and know that others feel the same way.

As I recall, WSPD harangued the mayor for hiring a guy with 12 DUIs. They were dead on then.

I will say that, to his credit, Fred has always been quite vociferous about how the Finkbeiner administration is extremely top-heavy.

The 22nd floor is loaded with people that really do not need to be there, hardly do anything, and are paid outrageous sums of money as they continued their suckle on the public teat.

The one referred to as Finkbeiner's 'lapdog' got special attention. He would mewl to the media whenever the Fink would pull one of his many stunts - quite hilarious !

And he was observed frequently sitting at a picnic table outside Government Center for hours at a time reading a book and sucking on a cheap cigar.

Talk about needless employees - this man typified the irresponsible excesses in staffing on 22.

Gary, you didn't even have any qualifications for the job you were given.

Brian Schwartz was not only qualified for the job, he did what he was hired to do. And that included enjoying his paid breaks outside, smoking and reading.

Brian's job was revelant compared to many others on 22. Carty even had to hire an extra employee to catch the slack after Brian resigned and was replaced. But nice job envying Brian's success as well.

You couldn't even do your own job correctly.

All you did was dust Carty's nuts and Carty hooked you up with a great job and ya didn't even have to interview for it.

Could have got a pension, perks out the yinyang, killer benefits, the "golden retirement package". But as a failure, you lived up to your reputation.

You never did tell us how much alcohol you sucked down for you to blow "legally drunk" the next morning after 9 AM. But we know it was a whole lot, because you got busted for DUI, in the morning by dilligent fellow employees.

and this is why you post your envious comments and hollow threats and outright lies, because the hate has sucked the life out of you, the hate you have for yourself for shooting yourself in the foot. the hate for living in the bottle as a lush and smoking those bong hits, the hate for losing everything because you are, in a simple term, a failure. And on probation!

So, now you're not only the laughing stock of the blogoshpere, you've resorted to playing dating games on another site to cling to your relevance and attacking everyone that "won at the game of life".

and now Chabler is hired and you're just dying over there.

comedic gold, folks....

Ha!

The Block family and their rag/excuse for 'journalism' are the biggest negative influences on not only NW oHeilo, but southern Michigan too.
Always have been, always will be.

but kudos to Troy for being able to provide what WSPD can't.

Carty's lackeys mindset.

Fred has the edge for both tenure in the community and networking. Both have paid dividends for WSPD's credibility.

But Troy's access to what WSPD has been blocked from makes for great radio....

*cough* lol Brian

Maybe people like the mayor, and Chabler really "have no objection to what [WSPD] say(s) many times. . . ." Maybe it's because these people are against WSPD because "it's the way they say it." -- i.e. the style is more important than forming substantive arguments.

Or maybe it could be their timing. Perhaps if WSPD waited a certain period of time that will determine whether or not what they say is true.

I don't want to repeat what I've said before, but the bottom line is "saying something doesn't make it so."

Also file and win a lawsuit about being blocked from meetings?

And the web has a long memory

that Carty and even Jerry are from another time. A time when government could get away saying that junk. That time is long gone and if there is one person who has cause more damage in the last couple of years it has had to be Carty. Yes Carty has had some small victories, his targeting our area as a model area has helped, but those tiny steps forward are huge steps backward given his gaffe's especially with the Marines.

I like that WSPD has committed themselves to asking questions and highlighting the problems, but this is probably why Jerry says they are a detriment to the community, because they do exactly this.

I haven't heard the interview or the show so I can only comment on the quote at the beginning of this post. I would wonder why if Mr. Chabler believes WSPD is the most negative influence, and done more to prevent development, was he in attendance at the WSPD sponsored Intermodal presentation at the University Of Toledo a few months back? Also in attendance Jim Tuschman the head of the mayor's task force, Lee Dunn Pres. Bank Of Maumee, Ed Nagle-Nagle Trucking, Tom Pounds-Toledo Free Press, etc. etc.
Mr. Chabler knows he can call us negative and get away with it because he won't be challenged in the rest of the media. He reveals himself to be a liar and completely out of touch with what is really happening in this city.

First, Chabler doesn't even live in the city of Toledo, he lives in Sylvania . No big deal right? Not really, because even though it's a position on the Toledo-Lucas Port Authority, it's still an appointment by the mayor of Toledo--a mayor whose view is that where a person lives determines whether he/she will be loyal to the mayor.

The question is why shouldn't Chabler sign an agreement that he'll move to Toledo?

It's funny that Chabler says WSPD is the most negative influence in the community. WSPD doesn't cost anyone one dime, yet those who run the city are costing everyone millions of dollars.

Which is the legitimate negative--words, hurt feelings, irrefutable arguments? or what the people in our local government cost every single person that lives and works here?

So yes, Chabler is either a deliberate liar or he lacks the ability to distinguish between a negative influence that is real and one that is perceived.

Very few thinking people regardless of which side of the aisle they are on, would disagree, but should be reminded, that:

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price." -- R. Reagan, 1st Inaugral Address

If there is anybody who should be on the Port Authority board, it is Ed Nagle. The guy knows more about the transportation industry, intermodalism, and the simple(?) task of meeting a payroll, than anybody on that board.

to be shined upon them. WSPD does their homework and tells the rest of the story. The mayor should rebut WSPD on specific issues if he thinks they are wrong.

They're going to give you Mayor Konop, the Block's hand-picked lap dog.
You'll wish you had Carty back.
