GuestZero - I'm dying to hear your thoughts on Catrina Dunning (aka the "buy my happiness" auction on eBay lady from Toledo)

In case you haven't heard...the Cliff notes:

Lady from Toledo lists auction on eBay begging people to donate money to help them save their house. After all, they have 4 kids and need to keep a roof over their head. (See the original NBC24 story about them here: http://www.wnwo.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=154505

After the story broadcast, multiple people contact NBC24 to alert them about Ms. Dunning's MySpace page, where she talks about having fur coats and taking posh vacations. (NBC24 did a recap about that here: http://www.wnwo.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=155035

I love how she gives her "official statement" to the news station chicken scratched (with words crossed out and re-written) on notebook paper: http://www.wnwo.com/uploadedFiles/wnwo/News/Stories/Catrina%20Dunning%20...

I love "Concerned Citizen"'s comment on the Channel 24 website...lol

SuperMILF should sell her expensive watches before begging on Ebay.

Just thought people who are tempted to feel sorry for this spoiled family should really read her myspace page before making a snap judgement to help:

I'll quote it here, in case she decides to hide the truth:

Catrina & Don's Blurbs
About me:
I am 29. I own my own company Global Com Tracking www.globalcomtracking.com. And it is doing very, very well. I am in the process of finding a new house because our new house is going to take 2 years to build with plans and all. Going to build my mac daddy of a house out at "The Ridge" I have several degrees. I am remarried to a wonderful guy, and I have 4 beautiful daughters. I am the oldest out of three girls. My sisters are both still here in the toledo area. I am also getting into real estate so I can not only sell homes and properties but so I can invest in them myself. My goal is to make as much money a s possible LOL and to have my husband retire at his job so he can stay with my girls so I know they are in good hands while mommy is working so I can just focus on my careers with my company and real estate so that I can afford my family every luxury they may want, wheteher it be extravagant homes, or vacations, clothes, new furs (well I just got a nice one), diamond rings (girls gotta have em'), nice cars, more watches to add to dons collection, good memories, fast boats and good friends LOL..well maybe thats more me and Don...I guess if it was up to my girls and what they would want it would be horses ( we already did that though, not doing it again, we had it stabled where their riding lessons where ( at The Chase)again, but i got scared that they would be thrown off and break something so I pulled them off of their horses.. or they would more music and dance lessons and slumber parties and more vacations of and all the high school musical, dora, spongebob, and hannah montana stuff there is lol..my girls just cant get enough of that stuff. But I just want to give everything thing that I can possibly give to my husband and to my girls. I just want them to have opportunity and experience (well good ones) and door open to them.

I've been watching this story since yesterday when it began to come out. It is killing me. I don't know if you had seen her confession of being a werewolf or not... here is the address http://groups.yahoo.com/group/realwerewolves/message/284 . Not only is she in need of money, she is also a werewolf. Tough break.

Let's just whittle that down to three, at the moment.

1. I don't understand the concept of "losing your house" if it's YOURS. And property taxes on a home are not that high. Please, somebody explain how you can lose YOUR home if you OWN it.

2. Anyone who needs $20K right now is just going to need that same amount again next year. Hence, the donations are a pointless exercise.

3. Does anyone else remember when it was shameful to ask for handouts? Anyone?

Apparently, they 'need' the 20 grand for fees & closing costs, by August - or they 'lose' the home. That suggests to me that it hasn't been closed yet? I know nothing about this stuff - but you can 'lose' your home due to foreclosure, non-payment. The first thing that struck me when I read the ebay 'ad', was the lie about how their water was shut off without warning. It struck me as a lie, because water bills come quarterly. There's a good amount of time before they send out a 'reminder to pay". Then, there's another couple of weeks before you get your 'disconnect' notice in the mail - then you have at least a week or so to pay it. This woman claims she never got notice of being close to disconnect? That suggests that she 'lost' 3 different water company mailings to her? Her kids closets are full of dance costumes that she claimed she bought for 25 cents at garage sales - unlikely. My friends' daughters took dance classes for years & she says those costumes are expensive, and you're lucky to find them for less than $20. at garage sales. And if there were dance costumes, I assume there were dance classes (which will require specific costumes, not those you find in garage sales) - they order the costumes from one place each time. Her kids had riding lessons, with horses & stable rental costs (expensive). She did say they quit that a while ago. I feel bad for her kids, that she posted her kids photos - plastered in the news. Kids can be mean, and it wouldn't be surprising if her kids get teased over this. This woman has a degree, her husband has a good job - compared to many people he does. This woman is a spit in the face to people with real problems - most people in this country are hurting right now, far worse than this family is. Many people & kids have never had fancy vacations, riding & dance lessons, nice clothes, huge stacks of xmas & birthday gifts, etc.

- Just the KAT, thinking out loud again.

In case you missed it, there is what is labelled now as a tropical storm with intentions of forming into a hurricane forming off the coast of Africa. Now, this storm is merely 2,700 miles away with a projected path of hitting Florida.

They named it "Bertha".

Now, I know the fine people of Crawford Street need help, but I need cat food, preferabally Fancy Feast (anything seafood, finicky cats) and a Playstation 3 and some socks, or rather, footies.

I would have accepted cash donations, but these things are what I would have ended up buying anyway. I wouldn't have mentioned the PS3, but the cats hate the XBOX360's controllers and would rather have the "sixaxis" controls.

Thanks folks, you guys ROCK!

PS: It takes a blithering idiot to not realize the flooding on Crawford is not natural and greedy people like Catrina Dunning (and myself) are douchebags.
