Greater Toledo Republican Women Club voted to not support COSI levy

Toledo, OH - The Executive Board of the Greater Toledo Republican Women voted unanimously to speak out against the decision of the Lucas County Republican Party to endorse a variety of tax levies, including the COSI Levy. As Republicans we have no business lending our support to increase taxes for our community.
"I was shocked to hear that Mr. Stainbrook would push for the support of any type of levy." sard Kay Clawson. "Had I been informed of the meeting I would certainly have been there. I hope Mr. Stainbrook will strive to adhere to our party bylaws in regards to future meetings."

Good for them. The COSI that we had here in town was not all that and a bag of chips as the current ads would have people believe. Most if not all its exhibits were the same the day that it closed in 2007 as it was the day it opened in 1997. Surely in a decade there were advancements made in science but you wouldn't know that on what we had here. There was no real incentive to visit the place more then once. I'd love to see a COSI here in town that had dynamic and changing exhibits and line up for blocks special exhibits but the COSI we had wasn't someplace like that. If this levy would pass I'll bet you they reopen with all the same exhibits that they had when they closed.

COSI,is whithout a doubt,a make work scheme by Dimbulborats ,to give work to their friends and union toadies.The proof,or PWOOF,as Barney Frank ,would say is that it has been reguritated 3 times now,and every time it has been VOTED DOWN,BIG TIME! Toledo Demonrats will try anything 3 times to get their most unemployable friends jobs.A 4th time will soon come,I will bet my life on it!

Shame on you; to an adult Cosi is lame and non advanced in its exhibits. To a child that has never expeienced these exhibits it is amazing! COSI is for our children so for a second can we be non selfish? Can a person that makes 100,000 a yr donate $5.21? Toledo does not need another empty building downtown; that does not make us look attractive to the outsider. We NEED downtown businesses; look at us we have not been an attractive downtown since the great depression hit. We need to cherish what we have think outside of us or the "ME" factor and give to our youth. GIve to our Toledo, our downtown needs every business it can get. With the new arena, the stadium and COSI this allows small businesses to form; b/c they have traffic of customers.
THANK YOU FOR PASSING THE COSI LEVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do understand what a donation is right?

In case you're unsure;

DONATION: a voluntary gift (as of money or service or ideas) made to some worthwhile cause

Being taxed for a business is NOT donating.

If all the businesses who donated money to get this on the ballot for the third time had been donating to COSI then COSI never would have closed and the tax payers wouldn't be forced to pony up for the cost of the place. Think of all the money they spent on advertising and what not? They could have reopened on business donations instead of adding another tax to the backs of Toledoans.

COSI was poor run and the exhibits were ancient and the only way they updated was to move them to a different corner of the building. COSI was only amazing to a child who had never been there. Once you'd been to COSI there was little if any reason to go back again.

COSI needs a bigger building, one that lends itself to growth. The old Portside doesn't do that.

The same people who ran COSI into the ground are still in charge. What makes you so damn sure they won't take our taxes and run it into the ground again? They'll be back asking for even more in a couple of years.

Personally I'd love to see Toledo have a vibrant and lively science museum but old COSI didn't fit that bill except for perhaps the first year it was in operation. Theres no reason to believe that this "new" COSI will be any different.

I got my through a network..........its not about Dems or Reps...........get over yourselves!
Why so negative?
