Flint Michigan - known for both high crime and high unemployment - has decided that they have time to waste chasing around kids with saggy pants...
Flint is pretty much a mirror of toledo as far as politics go - I wonder if they've got a smoking ban too?
Dont get me wrong, I think the style is silly, and emulating convicts is basically moronic, but who really cares? Let their employers dictate a dress code and leave the law out of it.
No, not a silver lining in the droopy pants. This news items is a silver lining in a vast and dark cloud.
The advantage is that the residents of Flint now know without a doubt that their city council is obsolete and should be disbanded. Any government that gets so distracted with illegal trivia can't serve as a government in the first place.
Flint should dis-incorporate and re-incorporate as individual neighborhoods with cooperative agreements overseen by the state for purposes like utilities.
get involved. However, the general population should be able to publically ridicule these punks for being the idiots they are...without legal repercussions. Maybe a slap on the back of the head, a wedgie, pointing of fingers and laughing/mocking, etc.
kooz said "the general population should be able to publically ridicule these punks for being the idiots they are" ...........................Ok, would that also give the population permission to publicly ridicule everybody else they may think dresses absurdly or stupidly? How about the overweight women who wear overly tight, low rise jeans & a tight, clingy short top, that displays muffin tops, big belly hanging out & a gross butt crack when they sit down? Or overweight men who's butt cracks are exposed when they sit down? How about people with greasy, disqusting hair, or just hair that's been untended for so long it looks like they've been in bed for a month? How about women or girls who wear super mini skirts - and dont have the body or legs to pull it off? Or people who publicly wear swimsuits that expose bodies that have turned into gross, fat blobs, decorated with mass amounts of cellulite? How about men who wear speedos? (all men) How about bad or overly done make-up? It could go on forever, because everybody could find something to be grossed out about. Who judges? Who's right? Why not just ignore the baggy pants wearers?
I'm sure parents of 60's kids (or any generation) bitched about something or other of what their kids were wearing - how many parents were disqusted by the Beatles hair? Every generation finds something to piss people off - it's what young people DO - it's their job. If people react, even in a negative way - it's achieved it's desired effect. I imagine, one day, those baggy pants wearing guys will look back & laugh, remembering how they had to walk splay legged, belt tight about the hips (or hands that had to keep pulling the pants up) just to keep their pants from falling down. It's a stupid look (I cant call it a style) - it's become cliche anymore. They're trying to look hard & bad ass & cool, and instead they look silly - like they're trying to hard to look bad ass & cool. But I can't agree with kooz on publicly humiliating them. Who knows? Kooz could be somebody who wears something that somebody else finds offensive.
