In an attempt to bolster the controversial new entertainment venue created with taxpayer money at the city-owned Erie Street Market near downtown Toledo, the Finkbeiner administration unsuccessfully sought to attract promoters to book shows at the building.
Buried on the city of Toledo’s Web site about three weeks ago was a request for those who would market and promote entertainment events in the newly renovated area of the market at 237 South Erie St.
Only one person replied: Robert Croak, of the Toledo-based Verso Group, who was given free rein months ago by Mayor Carty Finkbeiner to book events in the building before it was revealed the city would spend more than $100,000 renovating the area.
