I attended the Discussions on Race at The University of Toledo on May 22, 2008. I found the discussions to be juvenile and insignificant. The only thing that got accomplished is that everyone agreed there is racism in America, but no ne had a good definition of what it is. Does anyone know what it is?

can you share more on why you thought that? It seemed like an interesting crowd up there.
It was an interesting crowd, but the mentality was 1988, not 2008. I have lived other places and the discussions that these panelist were having, happened in other places over twenty years ago. Maybe its a good thing they are finally having the discussions, but I expect them or people like them to be having this same discussion twenty years from now. I know some of the people on that panel. Conversations that I've heard them engaged in, in other arenas, do not suggest that they are sincere about improving race relations. Many of the people I saw in the audience are not people who want to improve race relations. These people are always trying to find an edge to take advantage of anybody they can. I won't provide names and I may sound like a naysayer, but the room was filled with brown, white, black, female, and male people who are prejudice against other people because of race, gender, religion, color, national origin and lifestyle. Expected responses were the style of the day. It was so ridiculous I had to leave shortly after the break. I couldn't stand it any more.
