The Finkbeiner administration seems to be bowing to pressures from Toledo City Council and has agreed to take a close look at Erie Street Market records from the past two months detailing how nearly $80,000 was spent to renovate a section of the building into a concert venue.
Robert Reinbolt, who is Mayor Carty Finkbeiner's chief of staff, acknowledged yesterday in a letter to council that there had been a lack of communication about changes at the controversial city-owned building and a "failure to follow established procedures on the part of some employees."
Mr. Reinbolt said he appointed Theresa M. Gabriel, assistant chief of staff, to oversee the market at 237 South Erie St.
"She has had a lot of experience running a business and has owned a bar, so she is the right person," Mr. Reinbolt said.
Other senior members of the administration will be reviewing what happened at the market and will recommend by tomorrow what "corrective action" is needed, Mr. Reinbolt said in his letter to council.
