The city wants to tout their doubling recycling rates. I call bullshit. First off they extorted... errrr forced people into recycling. Through graduating fees and their automatic sign up for those involved in the automated trash program. So the stated numbers are teasing if not outright lies. Falsely reporting them on the week the Bloomers is very self serving. You may say there are many recycling now because on paper they are on the list. But are they actually placing the required amount of materials in the refuse cans to qualify as a true recycler? I think they are dreaming if they expect the 80% recyclers rate should the automated trash pickup go city wide. I think we will be sending out trucks to lift empty or partially filled cans. And as diesl fuel prices increase. Will we be losing the battle and a ton of money in an effort to go green.
This week in my neighborhood the city was running behind again collecting the recycleables. Where in the past the pick up was done by early morning. They did not make the pickup until late in the evening.... 8:30pm on one side on the street and returned the next morning do claim the rest of the block and a few surrounding street. Big perhaps overly large blue containers sat out at the curb for almost 36 hours. A real eyesore all they way down several blocks. Again during the week the Bloomer judges are here.
