TOLEDO (WTOL) - A building collapse in downtown Toledo has a 11th St. closed.
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, one building was being torn down on 11th near Avondale and Moorish and fell into another building.
The building under demolition was supposed to come down by Mike's Hauling and Demolition to make way for a parking lot for the Salvation Army. When the building came down, it caused a second building to collapse that was not scheduled for demolition.

Contractor knocks out power in parts of downtown Toledo
A private contractor demolishing the old Salvation Army building in the downtown Warehouse District collapsed the building about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, taking out a Toledo Edison utility pole and power lines, authorities said.
About 139 customers downtown lost power as a result of the incident. Utility crews were on the scene at Moorish Avenue and 11th Street working to restore the power to those affected, expecting to complete the job sometime later Thursday, Gary Keys, area manager for the utility, said.
The demolition job was being done by Mike’s Hauling and Demolition, which is based in Northwood, according to the city of Toledo. The company could not be immediately reached for comment.
- Just the KAT, thinking out loud again.

Wait, wait, wait a minute....nobody said they could tear down that building. First we need city council to walk through it, then we need the architects, Ben Konop, The Blade and finally Carty!
The Toledo law dept needed more work. Will the City be sued again ? The contractors were working for Carty's Administration. Sue to recover costs from Mike's and sued by the unions for work they think is theirs to do ????
