I will try to do some pre-Ohio State game coverage. I don't think I will have a live blog, but I may be posting thoughts and photos of the pre-game. We will see what happens.

A few thoughts on Obama-Biden:
1. The tag on Obama of "inexperienced" gets muted a little, especially on foreign policy issues.
2. Obama gets a pit bull with a big mouth to do the dirty work of the campaign, and Biden's history of shooting from the lip makes it much easier for Obama to use Biden in this capacity. If they float a trial balloon that goes KERPLOP after Biden delivers it, Obama can just shrug his shoulders and say: "That's Joe."
3. "Change you can believe in" rings more hollow, as Biden's been in the Senate since Vietnam, but only Obama-maniacs pray this mantra, so no harm there.
4. Biden should be able to slap around the Clintons and either get them more on board the campaign or make them take a loooong vacation until after November. These two still keep looking for that last-gasp angle to finagle Hillary's nomination, and Obama needs every Clinton voter to pull this election off.
5. All said: vice-presidential selections are good for about a week's worth of press, and the net result of a vice-presidential pick is at best a percentage point or two. While some VPs wield significant power after the election, they rarely bring much to the ticket beyond the ruminations of the pundits.

Whether you like them or not, the NRA has a lot of clout in elections. They rank Biden a solid "F". They will point to his selection as more evidence that the Dems are STILL the party of the gun banners.

Do you really allow an interest group to have that much influence over you and your decision?
For gunowners, the NRA is very influential. Interest groups advise their members on a myriad of topics ranging from abortion (either from NARAL or Right to Life), business/labor policy (from unions or Chamber of Commerce), social issues (ACLU vs Focus on the Family), etc.
Interest groups are nothing more than groups of citizens who have similar beliefs. People listen to these groups because these groups were established by them to bring information and lobby on their behalf.
Are you out of your mind? Those interest groups may have started as grass roots efforts of like minded citizens, but they are far from that today. I expect anyone with any sort of intelligence to do their own research on candidates and come to an intelligent decision without being spoon fed by corrupt special interest groups as the ones you described.
is not going to support the Democratic ticket no matter who the VP choice is. I don't know why they're even part of the discussion.
And by the way, even though voters focus much less on the VP candidates, Joe Biden will bitch-slap around his GOP counterpart in any debate, no matter who that might turn out to be.
Especially given his outstanding performance in the Democratic Primary debates.........(note the sarcasm!)
Joe Biden:
"Joe Biden has represented the state of Delaware in the United States Senate since 1972, when he was elected at the age of twenty-nine"
http://biden.senate.gov/senator/
"Currently in his sixth term in the Senate, Biden has served for the sixth-longest period among current senators (fourth among Democrats) and is Delaware's longest-serving senator."

So this "change" Democrats hope they are voting for? It's a new face, Obamas, on the same old tired platform.
We all know that Obama will just be the mouthpiece of the REAL president, Joe Biden. The WORST kind of Washington insider.
Do you really allow an interest group to have that much influence over you and your decision?
You can seriously ask that in Toledo OH? You know unions are special interest groups representing a minority of the populace, right?
Yet they literally OWN most of the council, and the mayor.
We have as many "at large" councilmen as we do district reps. Who do you think the "at large"-ers are there to represent??
I absolutely realize unions are a special interest group, and its' precisely why I'm adamantly against unions, their meddling in politics on the local and national level, and I believe them to be outdated. The only representative I have any sort of respect for on city council is Tom Waniewski, whom I believe to have done a wonderful job.
At any rate, Democratic or Republic, most local politicians in this area are corrupt and are a disservice. Look to the corruption of Tom Noe and the circus around Jon Stainbrook, or Frank Szollosi and the union controlled Democratic party demanding that union contractors be used in anytime a public dime is spent. Both parties are corrupt, in addition to the special interest groups that place ownership over them. It's too bad there aren't more independent thinkers who can't research on their own and come to an informed decision, rather than saying, oh shit...the NRA gave that dude an 'F' so I'm gonna vote for the other guy!
Did you not read my response, or maybe not understand it? It has nothing to do with an interest group influencing ME. Look at the record of candidates supported by the NRA.
It is a fact, they have mucho clout, and Biden is very anti gun. His selection shot another hole in the sinking Obama ship.

on who they will vote for is influence by someone else. Whether that influence comes from special interest groups, unions, media or something else is not relevant. The information derived from these outside influences and how we subjectively process it guides our decisions. It's all part of "doing the homework" and becoming an educated voter. No one could possibly choose a candidate to support without outside influence. It just doesn't work that way.
- Just the KAT, thinking out loud again.

Well no shit. Your grade school, high school, and college education is also a form of influence, but whether you receive your information from a union who TELLS you how to vote or watch Fox News to sway you how to vote, there are ways to find information on a candidate that isn't blatant propaganda. You can view roll calls and voting records of candidates on congressional websites, go to their website to see what they are offering & what they say their stances are. See how they conduct themselves in debates and in speeches, are they blathering idiots like George Bush or can they carry their own like Mitt Romney was able to. There is a way to make informed decisions without being told how to vote by the NRA.
But God forbid, this would require the American people to READ and do research.
