Biden Dropping Out? Rumor Thrives on Internet
It’s almost certainly just a case of the telephone game gone high-tech, but there’s an Internet rumor surging through inboxes and discussion boards that Joe Biden will drop out as Barack Obama’s running mate after his Oct. 2 debate with Sarah Palin — and that he’ll be replaced by Hillary Clinton on the Democratic presidential ticket.
The story line goes as follows: John McCain’s selection of Palin has generated so much interest in the Republican ticket that Obama needs to make a radical move to regain momentum. So in the days after the vice presidential candidates debate in Missouri, Biden will bow out, citing “health problems” (Biden underwent surgery in 1988 to repair two brain aneurysms). Enter Clinton.
Furthermore, the story goes, any damage the gaffe-prone Biden does during the debate will be erased by his abrupt exit.

Momentum is in Obama's favor right now and it's McCain who is trying to play games with the debates...If anything I'd think that Palin was on the short list for removal, he negitives are higher then her positives already.
Watching her get her ass kicked by Katie Couric yesterday was just plan sad...
No doubt he has his own 'gaffe' problem (the FDR speaking on TV one the other day being the latest) but the surge effect of Sarah Palin has been over for some time. If she was actually allowed to speak in an open forum minus her advisors or the script-of-the-day, it'd be interesting to hear her own misstatements, the number of which might set a modern-day record.
Biden has to avoid making silly misspeaks in the VP debate without looking like he's 'beating up' on the cute 'soccer mom.' That might be a challenge enough right there.
I cannot begin to imagine that there would be even the tiniest grain of truth in that rumor.
The people running the Obama campaign (along with Obama and Biden themselves) aren't that stupid. I might not be on the Obama bandwagon, but I certainly believe that the people surrounding his campaign are bright enough to realize how bad that would look this late in the game.
