As Mayoral bootlicker, Brian Schwarz never had too much positive to say about the intermodal, ex:
until McMahon presents an end user for the property, the mayor doesn't see an immediate need to sign off on the easement, said Brian Schwartz, Finkbeiner's spokesman.
McMahon has not contacted the mayor in more than two years about the water easement." “He hasn't been particularly aggressive in pressing the issue with the mayor,” Schwartz said,
So Brian - here's a question for you - if the mayor's acting as our economic development officer, and this could potentially generate hundreds if not thousands of jobs, WHY DOESNT CARTY GET AGGRESSIVE AND PURSUE MCMAHON???
Hell, I just heard Hizzoner patting himself on the back because somebody's opening up a friggin pizza joint down town, and because some other guy bought a building and was going to put 8 apartments in it and "MAYBE" some stores below.... Whoop de friggin doo!!!
But now - if Brian's gonna go back and work for the Port Authority?? Hartung's team?? It'll be very interesting to see what happens now, will Schartz change teams wholeheartedly and pitch in with Jim & co and help pursue the issue, or will he be the devils advocate for the TPA? Will he work to hammer out the problems that Carty and the Commissioners are causing with the BS water issue and try to move this forward or not?
And here's what I'd love - has he got any plans to publish his memoirs of the time spent leashed to an idiot with a God complex?

Because government doesn't drive these developments. Unless real investors step up with financing, no development will happen.
McMahon's group doesn't have the financial capital necessary for this project and they haven't been able to attract a corporate partner for fifteen years. They're playing the media in the hope that Toledo will be shamed into building a water line so they can get a better return on investment when they sell the land to a developer. By not caving to McMahon's posturing, we give companies looking to purchase his parcels leverage in negotiations.

That's one man's opinion - and that's definately not always the case with Carty (ie, Southwyck) AND, it's not the crux of this post. Pick up this week's Toledo Free Press - there are lots of people out there who's opinions differer from yours, and Brian has just switched teams to one that is PRO Intermodal. That's what Im asking about.
At least two of us feel that private investment is needed. The other one is Brian Schwartz's new boss, Port President Jim Hartung. This is what he said in a WSPD interview about intermodal at TOL:
"If the private sector ain't there, ain't nothing gonna happen."
Which gets back to the crux of your post: Will Brian Schwartz support McMahon's proposal at the airport? It's pretty clear after comparing what Jim Hartung said to Brian Schwartz's prior statements, he and the Port Authority would support McMahon's plan if a corporate partner were to step forward.
