Coffee Party wakes up the US radicals

Group countering Tea Party movement growing in strength

NEW YORK - Just when the conservative Tea Party movement appeared to be spreading across the United States, a radically different vision of America has emerged, courtesy of Facebook.

Its title might not be imaginative, but the Coffee Party USA is making waves. In just one month, its Facebook page has more than 50,000 fans; and supporters of this left-of-centre alternative were logging their interest at a rate of a thousand an hour as of Tuesday.

Ms Annabel Park, a documentary filmmaker, started up the Facebook page in response to the growing number of "Tea Party" coalitions, made up largely of Republican voters who have been speaking out against President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress.

Democrats have watched in horror as Tea Partiers have surged to prominence by advocating fiscal discipline, reducing the role of the federal government and opposing Mr Obama's health care plans as financially ruinous.

Now, the Coffee Party is calling for its supporters to "Wake Up and Stand Up". Its mission statement declares that the federal government is "not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process".

Local chapters are planning meetings in cities from Washington to San Antonio to Los Angeles.

The party is planning nationwide coffee houses for March 13, where people can gather to decide which issues they want to take on and even which candidates they want to support.

"We're not the opposite of the Tea Party," Ms Park said. "We're a different model of civic participation, but in the end we may want some of the same things."

Like the Tea Party groups, it is using Facebook and Twitter to spread the word and to encourage individuals to form local outposts. Already some 45 Coffee Party chapters in at least 30 states have been set up.

The coffee metaphor helps: "It's unfortunate that Tea is no longer soothing," posts one supporter on Twitter.

"It now makes me tense." AGENCIES

I wonder if these groups will also be meeting in bath houses to get ALL the lefty constitutents involved?

I'm guessing they're mixing high grade "tar" in hot water, and drinking that "coffee". "Tune in, turn on, drop out" version 2.0.

Nice try at astroturfing, wolfman. Annabel Park is/was a Strategy Analyst for the NY Times: http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/94902

But we do have some lovely parting gifts for you...

And the Blade's columnist Johanek got astroturfed, too. This crap is coming from Obama's PR flacks.

BWUHAHAHAHA!...this lefty moonbat obamaton illegal immigrant supporter has already been outed as the astroturf she is:

Political operative? Newsbusters has been drinking too much tea. Annabel Park worked as a volunteer for President Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Just as have many of the Tea Party members have worked for the Republican party. Nice try!

Wow - never thought of myself as a polical operative.

Is that the best spin you can put on this, Wolfie?

She's a tool of the NYT. She organizes for commander zero. She got busted, even though she tried to flush her LinkedIn page down the memory hole.

Maybe if I put it mathematically?

"Coffee Party" = "MSM = "0".

According to the article, Democrats have watched in horror as Tea Partiers have surged to prominence by advocating fiscal discipline, reducing the role of the federal government and opposing Mr Obama's health care plans as financially ruinous

So, following the rules of logic, can we expect that the Coffee Party stands for the opposite? Their mantra must be:

Wake up and smell the coffee! Let's hear it for no fiscal discipline, for increasing the government machine and its controls over private lives, and for implementing financially ruinous government-sponnsored health care plans.

Maybe there's been a mistake and this is supposed to be the Irish Coffee Party, and the folks are just so liquored up they'll go along with anything that sounds cool.

Helen...excellent comments!! Loved the phrase from the original article, "Democrats watched in horror...." LOL..what a satisifying mental picture that is. The irony is the Libs could never recreate anything remotely as unique, popular or meaningful as the Tea Parties..but sure will be entertaining to watch them try.

What was his first clue? The corporate sponsored Astroturf from FreedomWorks? The 24/7 corporate sponsored advertising disguised as "news" from News Corp/Faux News? This guy is a little slow on the uptake.

Dale Robertson, the founder of TeaParty.org, is just the latest Tea Partier to express concern that the movement is being hijacked by the GOP. He is warning that the movement "is becoming nothing more than a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party," and slamming Sarah Palin as representing "a growing insider's attack to the heart of the Tea Party." 'Warning: Tea Party In Danger': Leader Slams Palin As 'Wolf In Sheep's Clothing'

In a lengthy statement -- entitled "Warning: Tea Party In Danger" -- posted yesterday on the TeaParty.org homepage, Robertson instructs his felllow Tea Partiers to "[b]e alert to turncoats and deceivers being herded into the Tea Party by usurpers from the weakened Republican Party for the sole purpose of capturing our populist movement."

Robertson continues:

[W]hat I am witnessing is an attempted defilement of the concept of what the Tea Party's purposes are and where we are going. The bastardization of our message I find bilious and disingenuous on its face.

Tea Party members are being eyed as just another piece of voting meat. Tea Party members are targeted for filling the rank and file of minion laden political operations, most of which are lead (sic) by failed Republican hacks.

As for Palin, whose appearance last week at a controversial Tea Party convention appears to have given her a claim to be the de facto leader of the Tea Party movement, Robertson derides her "neo-con flippant viewpoint" and calls her "a duck out of water among true constitutional conservatives."

He adds:

She represents a growing insider's attack to the heart of the Tea Party. Very much like a wolf in sheep's clothing entering in at the gate as an ally, but for all intents and purposes there to seize and capture, not only one or two stray sheep, but the whole flock!

The Houston-based Robertson rose to prominence in the movement last year when he helped organize local rallies and founded Teaparty.org, a for-profit conservative activist site. But his influence within Tea Party circles is open to question. The Houston Tea Party Patriots distanced themselves from him after a photograph emerged of him holding a sign that compared taxpayers to "niggars."

Robertson is hardly alone in warning that Republicans are trying to hijack the Tea Party movement. Several grassroots Tea Partiers have sounded similar alarms -- some to TPMmuckraker -- partly in reference to the convention at which Palin spoke.

You can read Robertson's full statement here.

Keith Olbermann had some fun with this parody of the Carly Fiorina "demon sheep" ad in this segment of Countdown (at 1:48 mark).

Statements made are the opinion of the writer who is exercising his first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and are generally permitted.

Wow

A little scared are we?

MikeyA

Well the coffee party was a bust so he had to go back to plan A...

BTW...Robertson is another Fake being taken seriously by the main stream media...that's why dogboy posted his drivel...

A Note on Dale Robertson, self-described “tea party leader”
Wednesday, January 6, 2010
By Felicia Cravens
In response to questions we have received regarding Dale Robertson and his involvement with HoustonTPS, and specifically in reference to his attendance at our rally on 27 Feb 2009, we would like to state that:

1. He is NOT a member of our Leadership team.

2. He owns a website with which we have never been affiliated.

3. He has never been a part of organizing any of the Tea Party rallies in the Houston area, or any other area that we can find.

4. We addressed some issues involving him back in April. Here it is on our website, where Mr. Robertson himself comments: http://houstontps.org/?p=318

5. We do not choose to associate with people that use his type of disgusting language.

A search on Google yields plenty of information about Mr. Robertson, and a search of the various leadership teams among legitimate national tea party organizations show him nowhere to be found

FAKE.

Something Fishy
Friday, April 17, 2009
By Felicia Cravens
It’s interesting, being in the middle of a movement.

You meet the most amazing, fantastic people, who give up a lot to make sure things get done and the movement goes forward. You make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and find out just how amazing people are.

Until you find out that some people just… aren’t.

Since Josh and I began working on the Houston Tea Party at Discovery Green in February, we’ve struggled to do everything we could to coordinate with the national movement as headed by the internet activists who took Rick Santelli’s rant and ran with it. The original plan was for 3 tea parties in 3 cities. What happened on 2/27 was nothing short of a miracle. Five hundred people in Houston! Fifty cities! All on the same day! A movement was born.

But since then, one member of the unofficial Meetup (the one we separated from to form our own) has become increasingly suspicious. This member has contacted our organization making veiled threats, and then not-so-veiled threats through other people, and suggesting his ownership of the name Houston Tea Party might prohibit us from doing business as the Houston Tea Party.

I found out some interesting things.

Here’s a look at a recent press release: (note the incorrect date) Follow the link on the press release, and explore that site, and compare that with the efforts stated in the press release. This is how I learned not to trust press releases so much.

Here’s a look at recent DBA filings in Harris County:

DBAs in Harris County

Isn’t it interesting? One Dale Robertson has purchased DBA names for, among other things, Houston Tea Party, Texas Tea Party, Houston, TX Tea Party, and on and on. But what really interests me is the next page:

DBAs in Harris County 2

He’s also purchased Houston 912 Project, The 912 Project, We Surround You Houston, We Surround Them Houston, and on and on.

A pattern begins to emerge, one of a man bent on either controlling the names available for current movements in Harris County, or on extorting money from the leaders of these grassroots movements. Apparently we irritated him when we registered the name Houston Tea Party SOCIETY, because he didn’t think to get that one. I hear he is offering to sell the rights to the names to leaders of these movements.

So, purportedly a self-described member of a movement that’s against sleazy opportunistic politicians is presenting himself as a sleazy opportunistic non-politician?

Personally, I think that’s a great capitalist idea, and I wish him luck with that.

However, the threats of lawsuits and so forth do NOT sit well with me. The lawyers affiliated with the Houston Tea Party Society are more than ready to take on challenges such as this, should the need arise. We’ll continue as we have been, working hard to coordinate events and give people an opportunity to have their voices heard. We just want to make it clear that there are some people who, perhaps, are in the business of something else when using a Tea Party name.

Addition from Josh: Just to remind people, these are public records.

We like to work with people, and do work some some amazing people who give a lot of their time, talent, and treasure to make this org run. However, we don’t appreciate people busting in, demanding to shake us down for cash, trying to push their agendas onto us, or do things under our name and demanding we work with them and insulting us when we are hesitant. We then hear they are doing the same things to other groups.

It’s not that we’re prowertripping or against other teaparties in the area, we have great relationships with Woodlands, Sugarland, Tomball, etc… teaparties. We do however, have a recognized name we wish to protect. This does take a lot of managing and coordination and create consistency, and such things cause confusion and problems for us (as we’ll get loads of e-mails about it).

To set some records straight, this and this meetup groups, are NOT us, and we don’t know who this even is.

This meetup site however is, and you can come here to help us brainstorm our next location.

If you’re asking to help us, do be patient, we’re having to do a lot of post party work now, we’re still working ourselves into exhaustion trying to keep this together, and the extra stuff doesn’t help.

Sorry to end this night on such a downer, but we’re tired of having to deal with it We’re not corporate lobbyists, we’re not paid for this. We are plugged into the national movement and working with the other big cities and have been here since the beginning, and will continue to do so

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Now there's a credible, unbiased commentator. LOL!

TEA parties were started by Americans who are fed up with the way Government has been flushing America down the toilet. So Democrats steal the idea and try to spin it to their needs.

Just like Socialism, recycling someone elses idea and passing it off as their own.

Bastardizing someone elses work to further their agenda.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

Gosh, what an idiot I am. I thought the Tea Party idea was started by a bunch of Boston protesters angry about the 1773 Tea Act. Thanks for clearing that up for us, LibsCanBlowMe - let's give the credit to where it is due: people in 2009. Must be some kind of weird time travel dealio for those eighteenth century Boston copycats to have stolen the idea from Stephanie Jasky and pals, huh?

"Gosh, what an idiot I am"

Thank you captian obvious.....

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

The important thing is the American People are joining together now because of the way Washington is trying to march us on our way to socialism, whether or not we want to go. This will be a fun year for Conservatives and Independents, and bad news for democratz, socialists, and of course hard core commie pinkos.
