WSPD is a radio station in Toledo, Ohio, which broadcasts at 1370 AM. The station has gone by the slogan "News/Talk 1370" since late 2005. Originally "Speedy 1370," starting in 1983 it was known as "AM Stereo 1370, WSPD," beginning with Kahn AM stereo, later switching to the FCC-approved Motorola C-QUAM AM stereo system. Since the early 1990s, WSPD has had a conservative news-talk format, featuring programs such as The Rush Limbaugh show, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck and The Mutual Fund Show with Adam Bold. While WSPD did away with music programming in the late 1980s, the AM stereo signal continued until it was switched off after Clear Channel acquired the station in the early 1990s from Storer Broadcasting, at which time it became known as "News Radio 1370 WSPD." WSPD broadcasts with a power output of 5,000 watts on 1370 kHz and has a directional signal pattern at night.
The WSPD call letters were once shared with TV channel 13, when both were commonly owned. The TV station's call letters changed to WTVG in 1979 when the radio stations were sold off and the former owners kept control of only the TV station. In addition to a local news staff, WSPD is affiliated with Fox News Radio, which provides live top-of-the-hour newscasts, actualities, and breaking national news coverage. WSPD has been the flagship station of University of Toledo football and basketball since the mid-1960s, and also carries the NASCAR Sprint Cup racing series. The station is also the chief Northwest Ohio affiliate of Cleveland Indians baseball, after sports sister WCWA obtained the flagship rights to Toledo Mud Hens baseball in fall 2007. WSPD carries all weekdays Indians games and weekend Indians games that do not conflict with NASCAR or U-T broadcasts, or Mud Hens broadcasts on WCWA.
WSPD's studios, newsroom and offices are located at Superior and Lafayette in downtown Toledo. The station's transmitter is located on Oregon Road near Wales Road in Northwood, OH, and still contains a small DJ booth, reportedly the original broadcast studio. There are three unique free-standing towers at the transmitter site.
WSPD is Toledo's longest running radio station, originally started on-air as WTAL in April 1921. Some on-air alumni of WSPD include: Connie Desmond, Art Barrie, Jim Ubelhart, Jeanne Overton, Bob Seybold, Bob Martz, Don Edwards, Neal Carmean, Chuck Parmelee, Ed Hunter, Jerry Keil, Eddie Kootz, Frank Venner, Jack Mitchell, Jerry Anderson, Larry Weseman, Art Edgerton, Lou Hebert, Mike Stanley, Ron Tindall, Paul W. Smith, Jim (Ted) Bayer, Doug Bermick, Lee Conklin, Bill Stewart, Pat Brogan, Dave Macy, Lee Kirk, Mark Standriff, Ted Dalaku, Jim Donkel, Kent Slocum, Scott Sloan, Paul Stowers, Bob Frantz and Denny Schaffer. WSPD was also instrumental in the very early show business days of Toledo-native Teresa Brewer, who sang on the radio station as a child in the 1930s.
In 2007, long-time station engineer Bill Rossini brought WSPD into the digital-age with the introduction of (hybrid) digital "HD Radio" (IBOC) broadcasting over WSPD (during daylight hours). On September 14, 2007, WSPD began 24-hour hybrid digital radio broadcasting.
All I can say about conservatives is THANK GOD they are starting to use the same tactics that the libs have, in many cases, used successfully the past forty or so years I have been following politics! They even have coined a term for it-Borking. I'm guessing there will be rallies, pickets, maybe even sit-ins before the next election. Bada bing-bada boom.

I agree but with the tract record of our elected I can see why many voters are anxious. Both parties have spent us into a hole that is truly frightening. Getting involved in stupid unaffordable wars doesn't help and outsourcing American middle class jobs are killing tax revenues from the unemployed and under employed. Also no health care options for more and more Americans caught in the global economy race-to-the-bottom job competition. I think we need more information and less political rhetoric. It's been widely reported that the current system is unsustainable and will go bankrupt in the near future. So what do we do act like raging lunatics or force the powers-at-be to work out a system that works for all Americans?

I'm glad you took issue with my wording. Congressional Health Care Takeover were my words and not that of Rasmussen, which is a pretty reputable pollster.
But not the wording of this last post and the first one. What you said it means and what this asks are different. I must admit I purposely baited you into this.
That's also the reason I quoted a similar poll from June as well. Right now we're in Mid-August and I think anyone would agree that a lot has happened since then. The public has started to see what the "public option" aka Gov't Takeover means to their lives.
But there are other ways to take issue with the NBC/WSJ poll. It disproportionately sampled Obama voters to McCain voters 41-32. And added in those that did not vote (18%). Since there are more registered Democrats than Republicans and since registered Republicans have a higher tendancy toward voting we can effectively deduce that the sample leans even more heavily toward Democrats.
Needless to say no one should be quoting this as fact.

Here's what Gallup found: The number of Americans who say the media have exaggerated global warming jumped to a record 41 percent in 2009, up from 35 percent a year ago. The most marked increase came among political independents, whose ranks of doubters swelled from 33 percent to 44 percent. Republican doubters grew from 59 percent to 66 percent, while Democratic skeptics stayed at around 20 percent.
What's more, fewer Americans believe the effects of global warming have started to occur: 53 percent see signs of a hotter planet, down from 61 percent in 2008. Global warming placed last among eight environmental concerns Gallup asked respondents to rank, with water pollution landing the top spot.

My point is that this debate is moving and the polls are reflecting that. This is a far cry from "Regardless, over 70% of Americans want a strong public heath care option."
This post shows the discrepancies in the numbers and the dates. The previous post with Gallup even tells us "aken together, these findings underscore the conclusion that Americans' views on the push for healthcare reform are in a state of flux, perhaps mirroring the back and forth debate in Congress on this contentious issue. Two keys for the average American appear to be cost and urgency. The data suggest a continuing need to convince Americans of the return on investment of any proposed major investment in healthcare reform. Americans also appear dubious about the benefits of what they perceive to be less-than-fully-informed representatives in Washington rushing into a new healthcare reform law when the need for such legislation is not the highest on the public's agenda."
I agree with this wholeheartedly. This debate is far from over and using generalized terms like 70% of Americans support it is overreaching.
