The Problem With WSPD 1370

Many area residents are being blocked from posting or contributing to WSPD 1370. Seems the station is trying to control freedom of speech on our public air waves. I find it ironic that both Fred Lefebvre and Scott Sands do not appear to own property in Lucas County. According to Areis Online http://maps.co.lucas.oh.us/areis/areis.asp both don't appear on the auditors real estate listings. I have heard that Scott Sands lives in a downtown Toledo apartment and Fred Lefebvre lives in an apartment in Sylvania Ohio. They appear to own no property in Northwest Ohio yet block property owners that pay real estates taxes in Lucas county from the airwaves of Northwest Ohio. Two divorced corporate toadies not native to the area with no family in the area and no allegence accept to sell corporate nonsense to the uninformed. Those who think WSPD is the model for success in Northwest Ohio need only to take a look behind the curtain. The morning and afternoon hosts are far from what most think as successful in Toledo.

No votes yet

The problem with WSPD is that there are way too many sandwich shops near the station.

If the boss's at Clean Channel want them to push their right wing lunatic agenda what are those two jabroni's going to say no? Where else are they going get a halfway decent paying job with the lack of talent they have.. Did you watch the debate last night? I felt embarrassed
for Fred. Try not to be so hard on him.

Hope I didn't offend anyone!

Fred has an embarrassing life history that is in stark contrast to his radio persona. He wishes to promote himself as a knowledgable successful talk show host with all the answers. His accomplishments in life are really embarrassing. He has very little assets for a life of work. No home, minimal retirement savings. The poor man will work till he dies! No, those who feel he has usable knowledge will be sadly misled. Fred's knowledge of economics and finance is almost nill. When he does his daily talks with Dock Treece it become embarrassingly apparent on how ignorant he is.

How is the fundraising to stop the pipeline going?

Last I saw it was maybe at like $60.

Why not find a different media source? It's not the only radio station in town. It's not the only talk radio station in town.

Being that it's public only means it's aired publicly. It does not mean the public has a right to say what they want on it. The station paid for their license and they have the right to put out whatever they want on it.

Why don't you pay for a radio license and then you can broadcast whatever you deem fit?

MikeyA

There is no logic in trying to equate property ownership with freedom of speech--but I'll play along.

This will apparently come as a surprise to the poster, but if these radio personalities did own property in Toledo, their real estate taxes would go to Lucas County--not Toledo. But since they do work in Toledo, they pay income tax to Toledo. So much for "far from what most think of as successful in Toledo."

Now--on to fight ignorance in other venues.

As many of you know by reading MRINDEPENDENT's previous posts, he is a Democrat/Liberal.

In the true spirit of Democratic irony, he is suggesting that people who don't own property shouldn't have the same rights (i.e. being able to block people from posting) as people who own property.

Yet if we were to suggest that only landowners should be able to vote--MRINDEPENDENT would have a fit.

In the history of this country landowners were granted voting rights over others. While I'm not advocating that I do find it interesting that the radio personalities of WSPD own no property, have no family locally and have no skin in the game so-to-speak. They come to this area to earn a living promoting whatever nonsense their corporate employers tell them to promote. Neither are concerned with balanced news, only the titilating ratings grabbing gossip. I only hope the people of Northwest Ohio are smarter than that.

One WSPD host portrays himself as a self made man. He advocates for working till you die and frowns on those who have earned pensions. He never tells his audience that he has no other life options and is beholden on his employer generousity for the rest of his life like a scene in Cinderella Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNXTKVxOmfk This unhealthy reliance gives others who made wiser choices and planned for their futures wisely reason to doubt the host's abilities to be fair and unbiased to the more successful among us. Or for anyone that can't further the stations ratings.

Just recently Fred Lefebvre took advantage of Opel Covey in a series of demeaning interviews/podcasts for ratings. Many of us felt this was unnecessary and down right mean spirited attempt to further his career. No other media personality would stoop in treating Opel in this way. It just shows a personality flaw of someone with deepseated emotional problems.

In the last month we have had problems with the station not allowing interviews with natural gas pipeline opponents. The station has been receiving advertizing revenues from the American Petroleum Institute and the Rover pipeline. We think this is a gross disservice to Northwest Ohio residents. Allowing apparent greed to rule over the publics need to know is unethical.

As for Galts assertions that I'm a Democrat in ignorant of the facts. Even if Galt was somehow correct I find the fact of ones political leanings does not take away from ones opinions.

Honestly, if the Pope interviewed Opal Covey, he'd probably look as if he was being demeaning.

Fred invites all sides .

WSPD Fred Lefebvre Senator Sherrod Brown interview
http://wspd.iheart.com/media/play/26736038/

At the very end Fred tell's his audience after Senator Brown hangs up, "I'm not your buddy!" (6:45 on the timeline clock) This is the type of clown who plays the senator then after he hangs up critiques him without his knowledge. Anyone who thinks this guy is fair and inclusive is a fool.

Too many pastrami and rye sandwiches will make you act this way.

soul food to me! Besides blocking the arteries, what's inherently wrong with pastrami and rye?
Seriously, I prefer corned beef to pastrami. And I seldom have eaten either in the past 20 years, since my angioplasty. I do get an extra lean corned beef sandwich about once or twice a year.
I do miss those olden days when I ate the fatty kind almost every Sunday with my family! Oh, well. The price we pay for staying alive!

There is nothing wrong, but he also eats too many sandwiches of every type. I mentioned pastrami and rye because that's what I had for lunch. It was great!

They nearly killed me. But I love fatty foods.
The typical Ashkenazi Jewish diet, with which I grew up, is very big on red meats and other fatty foods. One such food is grebenis. It is chicken skin fried in chicken fat with onions. I haven't had grebenis in about 50 years, but I can still remember the wonderful, fatty taste. Rendered chicken fat is known as schmaltz. If you like mashed potatoes with butter, you'll probably love mashed potatoes with schmaltz. I also haven't had schmaltz in mashed potatoes in about 50 years. Schmaltz is also great in traditional chopped liver.
If cholesterol is not a problem for you, and you love fatty foods, here's a link to how to make (really collect) schmaltz, and how to make grebenis. http://toriavey.com/toris-kitchen/2010/06/schmaltz-and-gribenes/
These are both quite simple to make, but if you eat too much of them, you might just end up having angioplasty when you're only 48.

The only "problem" with WSPD is that Liberals can't control it. That drives them into paroxysms of fury. Liberals are all about media control, since they can hardly sell their un-workable ideas in any other way.

That's also the reason they hate Fox News. Actually I've never seen them as fearful as they are now, of losing their control!

Can you belief WSPD Fred is promoting a no vote on issue one. Yes Issue 1 is a proposal to give balance to the gerrymander district in Ohio. Because of Republican control Marcy Kaptur's district is a line line along lake Erie. The paid for shill Fred is running his foolish mouth all day promoting more of the same. Anyone who listens to this corporate shill will get an oligarchy of corporate interests. Fred cannot think for himself. He is dependent on the fear of losing his job and living in a van down by the river. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nhgfjrKi0o

Paul is uninformed and this is proof.

First, issue 1 does not affect Congressional Districts. So this new Law has NO AFFECT on Kaptur's district. NONE, ZERO, ZILCH!

This ONLY affects State legislature districts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, it does not end gerrymandering. If it only gets a simple majority then the district stands for 4 years and is voted on again. IF the simple majority holds THEN it stays for 6 more years. Gerrymandering is still possible. This bill just limits court challenges since and injunctions.

Can you belief WSPD Fred is promoting a no vote on issue one. Yes Issue 1 is a proposal to give balance to the gerrymander districts in Ohio. Well the vast majority could not be fooled and voted yes on issue 1.

We live in an age of such intense computerization that there's an obvious solution to the gerrymandering problem: Using clearly stated algorithms to apportion population. Mathematical handling of population is clearly nonpartisan.

Notice that NEITHER major party has even proposed such a solution. That's because BOTH major parties want to gerrymander.

So I voted "no" on Issue 1. Try again, you partisan assholes.

Fred LeFebvre has blocked me on Twitter and on Facebook. He won't even return a simple phone call. GEE, I wonder why! https://plus.google.com/104872403751680706892/posts/6w77HdjibDt

I do think that it's more likely that the multiple post on this thread by Mr. I was more likely caused by a computer glitch. That occasionally happens to me.

On the other hand, I do know that it can be upsetting to have people post intelligent, well researched posts which are contrary to one's own positions on issues or about one's personal life. I would guess that Mr. I has posted things that have irritated Fred, and that would account for why Fred refuses to answer Mr. I and why Fred has blocked Mr. I.
It does astonish me how thin-skinned some people are, who are in the public eye [or ear].

Maybe it's a control thing. When someone calls into a talk show, there is almost always a "delay" of several seconds, so that the host can zap individual callers who get past the screener. That's not true at a site like this one, thanks to Chris!

Incorrect.

You will notice post 2 of 4 contains significant deletions. That means it was a different post and not a posting error. Likewise all posts can be edited to indicate a problem.

ZCs posts are beyond retarded.

MikeyA

You are right that one may edit one's post(s). But, when I am not sure if my first post went through, I often try to reconstruct it, and it then appears as a second post right below the other one. Often, I will delete the body of the post as an edit, and state that it's a double (or triple) post, but not always. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt when I'm unsure, but you may very well be right. It may be purposeful for emphasizing what he wants to show.

You know, Mikey, while we often disagree, sometimes quite vociferously, I do respect your opinions. Unlike many here, you most often base your opinions upon factual evidence or opinions of experts in a particular field, not just upon "gut feelings." Now, I will often disagree with your interpretation of that evidence, and/or that expert's statements, but that's what makes for a productive argument in a free society.

And, once again, I feel the need to thank Chris for providing us a place to express our opinions freely. I know it takes a lot of time -- and a lot of expertise -- to do this.

one of those notices that I was disconnected and my post did not go through.

post, I just had a message appear stating that I no longer had a connection to this site, even though when I eventually got back on, my "new" post was here. I could have typed it out again and posted it again. That DOES happen.

Simple mistake over analyzed. Michael Arthur needs to get a real job besides being the self appointed gate keeper to SwampBubbles. In fact the former marine needs to control his impulses across the internet. The multiply posts were a mistake as Dale has outlined. SB still has a problem with posting. Michael, has WSPD paid you for all your trolling?

I will tell him if I ever meet him. I will say he was VERY interested when you posted his family's address.

Why don't you contact him since you care so much about him?

I mean you must have a lot of free time since the Nexus pipeline is going in!

Edit: or responding to 5 month old posts.

MikeyA

He won't return your phone calls because he's spending too much time at Mc Donald's and Tim Hortons.
