Keep Jeep in Toledo!

Yesterday a bombshell was dropped on Toledo. Denny Schaffer 105.5 interview with Bruce Baumhower https://soundcloud.com/dsnorulesradio/the-denny-schaffer-show-bruce-baum... CEO Sergio Marchionne made the statement at the Paris car show that Fiat is making plans to make a new unibody independently suspended ALUMINUM bodied Wrangler. Now if that's not enough to scare the bejebus out of the four wheel drive market Sergio continued to say it may not be built in Toledo. HOLY SHIT! Toledo has always built the Wrangler and it derivatives here in Toledo except for a short period from 1988 to 1992 where it was built in Brampton, Ontario by AMC. Most of the workers at Jeep have a family employment history going back decades. The Toledo Jeep Plant brings in some $9 million a year in tax receipts for Lucas county, it offers those with limited opportunity a shot at the Middle Class. It gives employment instead of poverty. It goes a long way at giving Toledo a market for its housing stocks. Toledo should again embark on the "KEEP JEEP IN TOLEDO" campaign. Better to have it here in Toledo then some other place that has no history to the iconic vehicle.

Since the UAW has become an arm of the Democrat party, it has burned its bridges with many of us. The people who brought us the disaster that is Obama now want us to rally to save Jeep--no thanks.

I don't feel responsible for giving "those with limited opportunity a shot at the Middle Class."

As for Jeep affecting Toledo home prices--you gotta be kidding me! Neither of my three relatives who work at Jeep live in Toledo. I asked one of them to estimate what percentage of the Jeep workers he knows live in Toledo and he said less than half. Geez--Toledo home prices have steadily decreased over the last five years and Jeep has been increasing its number of employees. What happened there? (That question was rhetorical--I know the answer is that Jeep-supported politicians like Obama, Kaptur, and Gerken have weaved their magical spells on us.)

Yep, it's too late to turn to us for help. Toledo can just be another monument to what happens when you sell your soul to unions and Democrats.

Yep

Yep, the family members I have who "work" for Jeep all live in Sylvania and Perrysburg.

If Jeep leaves I will care for about 2 minutes. It'll just be one more business that left Toledo for a brighter future.

I don't get too emotional when foreign companies leave the Toledo area.

Of course you don't. You have your nice cozy GOVERNMENT job working for the military-industrial complex in a nice cozy REMF position, like the good little hypocritical socialist you are.

Awww how cute. AC is using more terms incorrectly.

Just remember he's the People's Choice for Biggest Troll on Swampbubbles!

even if you WERE getting a paycheck from the gub'ment - so does Lil Coward. Difference being, you have to work for yours and regularly pee in a bottle for it. He doesnt...

Also I am subject to coming in during "off-hours", year-long deployments, and tighter rules than the civilian community. Not complaining, I love what I do. I provide a service to my country. As long as they're want me to keep providing that service I will keep providing it.

He's using the term military-industrial complex completely wrong. That would infer that I work for a defense contractor. I don't. He doesn't understand the terms he is using.

Since when is the military not part of the MILITARY-industrial complex?

You "work" because people in power find it profitable to have America be the world police and get involved in everything. You'd be out of a job if we elected anyone who ACTUALLY gave a damn about cutting bullshit government spending, because the military would be taking big cuts. You, like all the other military Republicans, talk a big game on cutting spending... right up until it hits Defense and threatens your job, which is somehow absolutely essential to "national defense" and "homeland security". The only differences between yourself and your take on a union employee is your check comes direct from Uncle Sam and your "union dues" are just the risk of having your ass shot off should you ever stop being a REMF and face actual combat, since the defense industry is happy to buy off politicians of both parties (assuming of course the President and VP and Cabinet members aren't former members and stockholders of the defense industry and thus automatically benefit from all the stock they hold going way up as they kick off a couple wars).

even if you WERE getting a paycheck from the gub'ment - so does Lil Coward. Difference being, you have to work for yours and regularly pee in a bottle for it. He doesnt...

Well Billy, you know, making false claims about people tends to be an actionable subject, given I'm not on welfare or any other government assistance.

When you can't debate the truth, go for the ad hominem, eh, Mikey?

I bought a jeep product and it was the worst vehicle I ever owned. Maybe the quality will improve if it is made somewhere else.

Over the years, I had a '70, '78 and '79 C-J fives. Poor gas mileage, very fragile(one I put 5 u-joints in, and NEVER drove it off-road), and next to impossible to get in or out of. I say get rid of them!

The best way for Jeep show profits, would be for then to trim benefits to retired salary workers! eff 'em, says me!
