My take from the article:
Gary Shores and Harvey Steele. WKKO-FM 99.9’s 5-to-10 a.m. remains No. 1. in Arbitron.
“I just think they keep getting stronger,” said John Gallagher, vice president market manager for Cumulus Media, which owns WKKO. “The existing audience stays with them and they’re finding a new audience; our 18-to-34 listenership nearly doubled in the last book.”
WSPD-AM 1370’s Fred LeFebvre at a distant No. 7. New host Johny D. drew an average weekly audience of 0.4, a drop from recently replaced Brian Wilson of 0.6 in 2012.

No votes yet

Would you just stop? You've been proven to not know shit about the media on several occasions yet you keep trolling to get a reaction out of Fred. I would be ok with it but you already have had to apologize publicly once before, it will happen again.

Second, how is the diversity on 99.9? You were making a big deal of diversity last week.

I'm sorry but get a clue Galt

And yes, please no comparisons to grade school children, who are innocents. MIKEY is a monster. You seem waaay too smart to be bamboozled by MikeyA SensorG Notmyfirst.... etc etc etc. whatever he calls himself moment to moment.

So-called "Mikey" (AS MikeyA) e-mailed to Roland Hansen's wife (sometime back, before he got REALLY pornographic) - something about a "blow j_b". Pure filth, for no known reason. And Mikey (always hiding behind one of the alter ego monikers) pushes the decency boundaries here, because he knows Chris Myers won't stop him. All of his "monikers" use the "blows" word in one way or another. He's not real original. Seriously, you "seem" like a thinking person.... get a clue about this piece of filth.

What I don't get is Chris Myers' thinking here. Even Lisa Marie Ward - a liberal's liberal, didn't allow this kind of thing at her website when it was up and running. I do get that one has to be a "techie" to spot most hackers. But you don't have to be a techie to spot and eliminate filth.

You are a piece of human garbage MIKEY

See, your problem is that when you went after Roland Hansen by e-mailing FILTH to his wife, you used the same language that all of your 10 or 14 "board personalities" use. You use the same tactics, same old porno language, same old filth. Why CHRIS MYERS, the board owner hasn't figured out what you are doing is beyond me. He appears to be an OTHERWISE fairly intelligent individual.

You are a piece of human garbage, In real life, you are avoided by decent people. On this message board, absent any monitoring, you wallow, under several different "titles" MIKEY, in pornographic filth.

For lurkers, just watch all the "monikers" that use the same porn language - that's MIKEY. He is on this board morning, noon, and night. His assignment is to shut down any meaningful discussion. He is NOT in the military. The marines are an honorable institution who would not tolerate what he pulls here.

So, even minimal monitoring being absent here - I'm going to call this pig on his filth each and every time he posts - including as the fake military guy he pretends to be. Anybody want backup as to what filth this monster is capable of - just ask Roland Hansen.

It appears I've hit close to home.

" Why CHRIS MYERS, the board owner hasn't figured out what you are doing is beyond me." Because I've actually emailed Chris Myers on several occasions, he's seen my real name and my work email which confirms my identity.

What I haven't had to do is apologize for anything I've posted online. And that is a fact!

Congratulations to my buddies Gary and Harvey, they work hard for those numbers and deserve them. As always though mrignorant misses so much when he just cuts and pastes. The article focuses on what is known as 12+ numbers which most stations don't use as a selling point. What most stations find important to them are the demographic numbers and perhaps the Blade will take a look at those in the next article.
Because of restrictions placed by Arbitron I can't quote numbers but can tell you that each station looks at it's demo more closely than the 12+ numbers. For instance the sports stations are more concerned with a male audience, as would WSPD. Music stations that skew to adults don't care about 12+ they are more concerned with Persons 18-34, and whether or not they have more women listeners.
Arbitron also weights diaries if they feel enough haven't been returned from particular demographics. It's a very screwed up system, but the only one radio has for now. It would be interesting to see how many stations still sell using the Arbitron ratings, something else the article ignored.
But in the end Gary and Harvey are number one 12+ and I congratulate them. They are a couple of really good guys genuinely and over the years we've had some good times.

MSNBC Ratings: "LOL, they suck!"

WSPD Ratings: "It's a complex formula that doesn't show the true picture..."

There's a city full of walls you can post complaints at

The differences in the two stories are lost on a smaller mind like yours, but I'll try to explain. When television ratings are reported in the trades they are for the demo which those shows are trying to attract, normally adult 18-34 or 25-54, sometimes they print males in those same categories. They don't show the numbers for 12+ because very few people between the age of 12-18 bother to watch the talking heads.
What the Blade chose to highlight is the 12+ numbers which don't reflect the strength of each station's demo. It's like telling half the truth, like saying Obama is Black without mentioning that he's mixed race.
Harvey and Gary have been number one in the 12+ demo ever since they started practically but I'll bet they get their bonus on a different demo, just like the rest of us.
I know that doesn't fit into your narrative very well, but it's true.

In my job, I buy advertising for my company. Arbitron ratings are inconsequential to our purchasing decisions. How many listeners a station has is not important, but who the listeners are is vital.

Arbitron is archaic. It continues to assume that the people who spend money are under the age of 55. Think of a 30-year-old that you know. Does he/she have more money to spend than you do (assuming you are older)? The under 55 crowd in the Toledo market is not as well-off as their parents were at that age.

As an example, research done by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Center found:

"In 2007, drivers between the ages of 35 and 44 were the most likely to buy a new vehicle, according to the group's prior research. In 2011, drivers between the ages of 55 and 64 showed the greatest probability that they would buy a new vehicle."

Arbitron needs to be updated.
