Ed Schultz for ITM Trading here. In the United States Congress, Republicans and conservatives want all the chairs to be red on the right. Democrats and liberals want all the chairs to be blue on the left. Some call for bipartisan purple chairs in the center just for show. The trouble is, all of the chairs are on the deck of the Titanic and it’s going down. Sixteen trillion dollars of national debt is a hole that may never be fixed, yet Congress continues to squabble over the arrangement of the chairs on a sinking ship. Our country takes on $1.7 billion of new debt every day. Can it ever be repayed (sic)? Never?

How is this different from the guy who used to advertise tennis shoe stickers at this site?

In the event that you really are flacking for the gold bugs - does anybody actually believe that when (not if) the economy is deliberately crashed, that Kroger's or K-Mart OR Walmart are going to accept gold for food or merchandise?

Otherwise, if it's a joke, I don't think anybody reading "gets" the joke.

Look up fg, this one is over your head apparently

Fred,

She tried to call the number and it didn't work so now she's bitter.

MikeyA

OK

Other than knowing that Wolfman and Fred have some kind of blood feud going, that apparently goes back some years....

If this is "over my head" (which I don't deny & which is why I asked the question)....
then let's see someone other than the board troll explain the point of these continuous repeat "gold" posts.

I'm betting that not one other poster knows what Fred's point is - including trollie wolllie.

And the butt kissing MsDependent is still carrying the water for Big Auto Companies to MAKE THEIR STOCKHOLDER 1% RICHER ON THE BACKS OF THE MIDDLE CLASS.

OK, just don't shop there. Problem solved.

Concerned citizens can buy their China-made stuff at K-Mart, Target, or Kroger, instead. If you are buying trendy tilapia fish, btw, most of it comes from China. We shop Kroger's, but, like Michael Savage, never buy the tilapia or any food stuffs from China.

I have a friend who always reminds me, sanctimoniously, that she never shops Walmart. I'll say, well, you can get that vitamin at Walmart for $2.00, why is your doctor giving you a prescription for ________? "Oh I don't shop Walmart." Fine, then go to Meijer's where it's $4.00 Her doc, btw, is "prescribing" a cheap vitamin, because that way, it is covered by Medicare - but that's another story.

Retail is not as simple as the anti-Walmart crowd make it sound. Most of the time, I have no real idea what their beef is.

Actually FG here's why this is stupid.

DC is not very big. It's less than 10 miles by 10 miles. Walmart can just as easily locate stores in places like Alexandria, Rosslyn, and Falls Church in Virginia and in Maryland the cities of Bethesda, Silver Spring would easily locate a Walmart and still be able to service the people within DC since most could fall within 5 miles of one at any point.

Most individuals commute into DC so this would be a smarter option.

DC just decided to lose 900 new jobs that no one else will fill as Walmart will still locate in the area out compete everyone else in town.

MikeyA

I didn't know DC WAS that small. The only time I was ever there I was in 7th grade & Jack Kennedy was prez. (My dad told everybody that we were going to see Jack & Jackie... which of course we didn't...)

That's a lot of jobs to give up due to what looks like brain-dead liberalism. A decades-old complaint against retailers in general is that they have withdrawn from the inner cities. So when Walmart attempts to remedy that, a DC govt entity makes sure it doesn't happen. Brilliant.

The District of Columbia is listed as being 68 sq mi; that's smaller than the City of Toledo (84 sq mi). But the surrounding urban zones are significant when compared to Toledo. Considering population, DC by itself is about 3 times denser. Imagine the entire population of Lucas County stuffed within our city limits.

Today from MarketWatch.com

The Libtard headline from the yappy little Obama leg humping dogs of the "mainstream" media:

Wal-Mart walks away from D.C. store plans
July 11, 2013, 9:38 a.m. EDT
"Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it was scrapping plans to build three stores in Washington, D.C., after the city council passed a bill late Wednesday that would require big retailers to pay starting wages that are 50% higher than the city’s minimum wage."
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/wal-mart-walks-away-from-dc-store-plans...

In English this means:
Dimocrats in Washington D.C. would rather people STAY ON WELFARE and suck at the teet of Mommy Gubbermint rather than work for the Minimum Wage that Democraps in Congress have mandated.

Dimocraps, the laziest people money can buy.

And shortsighted.
Think of the HUNDREDS of construction jobs that Dimocraps in D.C. just flushed.
Think of the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF $$ in payroll taxes they just flushed.
Think of the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF $$ in sales taxes D.C. just flushed.
etc. etc.

Don't blame me,

That's why I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart. Despite the incredible wealth that the Walton heirs were born into, they pay their employees lousy wages and few if any benefits.
They actually encourage their employees to take advantage of every government assistance they can. So, in effect, we the taxpayers are subsidizing the Walton heirs.
If Costco can pay decent wages and offer benefits, Wal-Mart can.

"We're all riding on the Hindenburg, no sense fighting over the window seats"-Richard Jenni

Well, I'm sure Wal-Mart could, but it won't. And if they tried, their prices would rise so that their revenue would shrink. So it's a double hit to their profitability.

Assuming all things are equal then by your case study we have just a few years before CostCo surpasses Walmart as the largest retailer and the American worker's wage will rise.

Then you should quit trying to stop Walmart and let nature take it's course.

One supported by a well paid liberal blowhard who can afford to invest in gold, the other forced to shop for the best deal possible because of confiscatory policies of the last 50 years. Ed Schultz however continues to scare his audience into investing in gold along with Thom Hartmann. Both can afford this expense which many blue collar workers cannot. They threaten the audience with dire consequences like the Titanic example while all the while raking in money from big corporate sponsors like NBC.

But I would call it the OBAMA ECONOMY. How do you figure either family (the white family now divorced, wife lost the house, grown children living sad lives) can afford the continuing ALMOST $4 PER GALLON GAS we have had under BO - thanks apparently, to HIS "oil buddies". I mean BO must have lots of oil buddies (or puppet masters) for gasoline to go and stay that high, month after month, year after year. These gasoline prices are devastating the poor, and harming everyone other than the rich, like Ed Schultz.... (OK, now I get Fred's point).

MOYERS NEVER MENTIONS THE DEVASTATING GASOLINE PRICES IN THE ENTIRE PIECE. HE NEVER CALLS OBAMA TO ACCOUNT IN THE ENTIRE PIECE. There was a very brief clip of a member of the black family [both families were in Milwaukee - filmed over a number of years] - who indicated he didn't trust politicians in general -- but NOBODY was on camera calling Obama to account. There were no questions as to who they voted for, if they were disappointed in this or that politician. Moyers protected BO very well. Which in my opinion, phonied up the piece to a degree.

I have watched lots of Moyers' pieces on PBS over the years. He gets "punished" from time to time by whatever regime is in Washington D.C. when he gets too uncomfortably close to criticizing them. For example, I watched Matt Taibbi on Moyers a while back. Taibbi is a liberal, but came too close to saying that BO isn't a saint, and said that the Democratic party is just as corporate as the Republican party. Then there was Oliver Stone (also liberal) who was SHOCKED that BO was ramping up Afghanistan, and said so out loud on Moyers' program. Moyers, apparently under pressure, had to fold his tent on that weekly program. And he has OBVIOUSLY been told not to criticize Obama. It's screamingly obvious.

Back to the 2 families. Here is something else I took away from that. The black family is still together - oldest son doing well, considering the ultra depressed area they live in. But that's because they are all strong Christians. Their faith sustains them. The white family - sad and pathetic - with apparently no such spiritual base. But both families have stories that you could find being lived out by MANY families in this area. The devastated city of Milwaukee is similar to Detroit and Toledo.

But not once - does apostate Christian (meaning once was a believer, isn't really now) Bill Moyers reach any meaningful conclusions. Whereas an obvious conclusion is that having a communist regime in the White House is destroying this country. The Soviets proved conclusively that communisn is evil and doesn't work on any level. Whereas you have BO in DC, IN EFFECT (based upon his actions) saying.... no wait, communism can work -- just let the $4 per gallon gasoline really devastate the economy - just let me take away your religious and other freedoms - drink the kool aid - here's a few food stamps - trust me - you are going to love the new poverty. (Warning: satire ahead) What's that Michelle?.... ok, coming... gotta go folks, we're going on another world trip - at your expense, ha ha ha ha. IN EFFECT, based on his actions, that is exactly what the American people are being told to accept. And if they don't like it, they will be further punished next year by being forced to buy unaffordable insurance policies.

Politicians and highly paid radio hosts have no idea what it's like for middle class Americans. The six figures liberal blowhard Ed Schultz makes each year comes from a huge communication company, NBC. In return Ed sells his sould to hawk gold to people who can't afford it and are scared they are as Ed says on the Titanic.
