The Story of Citizens United v. FEC (2011)

No votes yet

Her first mistake is that this is a democracy. The United States is in fact a federal constitutional republic. A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. If what people want is all these good things why don't people go out and vote for these things? Only 58% voted in 2004. This woman cracks me up.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

...but other than that, carry on...

LOL

Go ahead and tell us those.

Unions, already battling Republican state governments trying to curtail their negotiating rights, are throwing everything they can at the 2012 election.
Thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United decision that lifted many campaign restrictions, union organizers this year can spend union funds to try to politically influence the general public. Worker's Voices, the AFL-CIO's Super PAC, will take advantage of the ruling to send volunteers to knock on doors, urging votes for Obama

"Unions, already battling Republican state governments trying to curtail their negotiating rights"

ONCE AGAIN, those aren't "rights". You NEVER have the right to force the other side to accept your demands, nor to even meet at the table with you.

of their employers businesses each year in America, to the tune of $1.2 TRILLION a year.
And, do it every year and have since the 60's !

So, anything that a thieving, lazy, destructive unionist has to say must be taken from that point of view.

Kind of like listening to any prisoner in the pen and taking the idiots advise.

This smacks of the "Move to Amend" talk. They just want to have a few dictators (central planners) in DC telling corporations what they can and cannot do. I thing we could see companies moving not only operations, but the whole business out of the USA.

Hey! Government doesn't own the corporations, investors do.

Mr. Apathy

Too late Mr Apathy its already happened. The Mittster and his merry bunch of corporatists did this over the past couple of decades. Now we have nothing but a majority of unlivable service jobs.
Through the corporate-funded American Legislative Exchange Council, global corporations and state politicians vote behind closed doors to try to rewrite state laws that govern your rights. These so-called "model bills" reach into almost every area of American life and often directly benefit huge corporations. In ALEC's own words, corporations have "a VOICE and a VOTE" on specific changes to the law that are then proposed in your state. DO YOU?

What is ALEC?

ALEC is not a lobby; it is not a front group. It is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, behind closed doors, corporations hand state legislators the changes to the law they desire that directly benefit their bottom line. Along with legislators, corporations have membership in ALEC. Corporations sit on all nine ALEC task forces and vote with legislators to approve “model” bills. They have their own corporate governing board which meets jointly with the legislative board. (ALEC says that corporations do not vote on the board.) Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. Participating legislators, overwhelmingly conservative Republicans, then bring those proposals home and introduce them in statehouses across the land as their own brilliant ideas and important public policy innovations—without disclosing that corporations crafted and voted on the bills. ALEC boasts that it has over 1,000 of these bills introduced by legislative members every year, with one in every five of them enacted into law. ALEC describes itself as a “unique,” “unparalleled” and “unmatched” organization. We agree. It is as if a state legislature had been reconstituted, yet corporations had pushed the people out the door.

to do business in China, they have to build a factory there !?

Obammy, was supposed to do something about that 3.5 years ago and did nothing ?!

China, imposes a 25% tariff on most goods coming from America.
America, imposes a 3% tariff on most Chinese goods ?!

So, this Obozo strategy of doing nothing has ended up in sending 5 MILLION American jobs to his and your brethren in collective group thought ?!

It is cost effective to make things in China and send them BACK, to America !!!!

Your Chairman Obummer, is one economic job killing nightmare !

Do you need an L graph, chart, or something like a newspaper, to learn about economics under the criminals you vote for ?!

"Now we have nothing but a majority of unlivable service jobs."

They are perfectly livable if you just stopped signing up for car, home, education and consumer debt. Outsourcing and offshoring weren't secrets. They were well documented and publicized all along. What, did you think outsourcing and offshoring applied to everyone else BUT you?

bedrock of American Life, is GONE under Obozo's Fascism.
$21 TRILLION of real Americans net worth GONE, under 3.5 years of Obammyism and Demoncommies Fascism !

So, who again has ruined American Life, as we all once knew it ?!

Economic leeches produce nothing in verbal sense or net worth.

If stupidity was a commodity: Demoncommie mooches would be worth their obese , lazy, loafing weights in Platinum !!!

The primary actor in the betrayal of the American Dream was the consumer himself. Capital was always free to flee our shores. You can't just keep using cheap overseas labor to make cheap imported goods, while retaining a base of expensive domestic labor. Americans knew this. And yet, they kept signing up for more debt.

GZ you give the American people too much credit for being informed about politics and economics. Most are complete idiots. Just look at popular media. Why else the Citizens United ruling and the increased spending on misleading electronic media. Again the American people are clueless.

A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

I think it should be more like:

Two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner is an ochlocracy.

Three sheep and no wolves deciding what's for dinner is a democracy.

One wolf and two sheep deciding what's for dinner is a dictatorship.
