Toledo Blade plans outsourcing, layoffs, WSPD next!

WSPD will be next!
If the Blade goes down so does WSPD. WSPD uses the Blade content to report their news. Brian Wilson reads the Blade online to run his show from a remote location, Huddleston Virginia. What will Fred Lefebvre use as a news source for his show? The weekly Toledo Free Press? Almost everyday he takes Blade news articles for discussion on his show. The WSPD news staff is a joke and could never support the radio station alone. Without the Toledo Blade journalism will suffer greatly in Northwest Ohio. Readers of this should think twice about wishful thinking of the Blades demise. Whether you like the Blade or not they do a service to all this area. Who will do the in-depth reporting of issues on a daily basis? WSPD! You got to be kidding!

All union members from across Northwest Ohio should stand with their union brothers and sisters against this attempt by the Blade to bust the unions. This attack on the middle class should not go without a response from the many local unions and politicians who have their jobs because of previous Blade support. I expect Ms. Kaptur will come out against "big paper" soon and stand shoulder to shoulder with the hard working, middle class, blue collar Blade employees with a statement about the fat cat Block brothers. How can you run a Toledo newspaper from Pittsburgh, right Paul? The outrage! Harumph, harumph!!!!

Soon if the naysayers have their way WSPD will have to invest in a real news gathering organization. This will take pain in their limited budget requiring all WSPD staff to take pay cuts in order to fund the new news department. Fred you will understand you can't live off the back of the Toledo Blade forever. A 10 to 20 percent pay cut by you and BW will surly help fund this new department. Hell maybe if they required you and your boss to work a 40 hour work week like the rest of America they could afford a real news gathering department.

But by using your logic since buying a nonunion made vehicle means I'm anti-union, correct?

So then I can deduce that everyone who gets the Bland is also anti-union. Can I not?

The Blade is FINALLY living up to self imposed motto of "One of America's Great Newspapers".

Union members are no longer the middle class. The middle class actually works, and is actually subject to the markets. Unions have protected their members from responsibility and economics. So we have to stop calling them the middle class. We should instead call them the SIDE CLASS. They exist to the side of the middle class.

But Paul, I AM the middle class. Are you suggesting that the middle class should take lower wages and that I should begin to work for what my Chinese counterpart would be paid? OUTRAGEOUS !!!!! HARUMPH, HARUMPH! (no newspapers were harmed in the cutting and pasting of the above blog)

"I didn't get a harumph outta that guy."
"Give the governor a harumph."
"Harumph!"
"You watch your ass."

One of the great movies...

The fruits of MY labor are not a social commodity.

The Blade is already outsourced from Pittsburg.

The Toledo Blab is shafting your Union hack brothers again. The Toledo Blab is waging war on the middle class. The Toledo Blab has bent you over again and you are taking it just like you ass-kissers did when the Blade locked out it's Union and had Jeff Heitz tell Toledo that Red China was better than you and your uneducated union hack brothers.

And somehow you turn this into another of your psycho rants about WSPD? My god you are one unbalanced stalker. I hope Fred has a CCW permit because you are obviously unhinged enough to try something and hopefully, Fred can put an end to your psychotic misery.

Please, get help before you hurt someone and stop beating your wife when the voices in your head keep wispering "WSPD is out to get you, bitchboy"

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

I would never intentionally shoot Paul.

From the American Journalism Review of May 2006 regarding the decision to close the Washington Bureau of The Blade and Pittsburgh Post Gazette-"There were no investors agitating for higher profits, no fund managers threatening a hostile takeover. This was just the Blocks, scions of a family that has owned the two newspapers since the 1920s, voting three to one to save money by shuttering the bureau " And this- The most important thing is the maximization of profit," says Marvin Kalb, a senior fellow at Harvard University's Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy. But in the end it's really about how a company treats it's hard working, blue collar, union employees-"After the Block family decided to close the Washington bureau, the company did not notify the people who worked there" "Initially, (Karen) MacPherson says, she was shaken not only by the loss of her job but also by the cold-hearted way in which it occurred. "
Time for all good union brothers and sisters, even those retired members of the UAW, to stand up with the unions at the Blade and stop this vicious attack on the middle class. Any thoughts on when your first protest might be Paul?

WSPD can't do pay cuts because the majority of their air-staff (exception of show hosts) only make minimum wage anyway...Wilson's pay takes up most of the budget while board ops and producers make peanuts and often have to have second jobs. Of course, in Wilson's eyes this is fair because he earned it and nobody else does.
