Should blog comments be strictly limited to a thread topic ?

Do we really need to restrict ourselves to commentary that is EXACTLY about the stated topic in a thread ? Don't we all occasionally banter back and forth ? Sometimes the conversation breaks up the monotony of a thread.
Do you think that commentary that is contributed to a thread MUST be exactly on topic all of the time ?

We are not communists.

Shouldn't we enjoy a little levity here and there ?

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH EEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL look at my blog!!!!!!!

A little is Ok but this BS between you and Brian deserves a GROUP by itself. Maybe I will create one and then you and Brian can bitch back and forth at each other all you want without bothering the rest of us!

Exactly HOW does it bother you ?
Can't you just read around comments you do not like or approve of ?

NO I can't. You two have polluted the thread with so much Bullshit that the main focus has been lost and I don't feel like wasting my time trying to filter out your crap. Maybe you two should just get a room because it sounds like lovers feud to me.

This is the last you will hear from me on your spat with each other because I refuse to be drag into your childness.

Sorry to offend you.
But I am confused.

There is so much information on the internet that it boggles my mind. There is so much info that I have to pick and choose.

I choose what I want to read, and leave the rest.

Are you saying that you can not do that ?

Its not as easy to avoid here as it might be on some other websites.

When nearly all of the recent comments on the right side of the page pertain to you and Brian bickering, that should be a sign to you that its a little excessive.

Yes, I stop reading any thread where you guys do your fighting. But you still can't help but be exposed to what's happening, based on the comment previews. Not to mention that it pushes aside recent comments that might interest others, which leads to the demise of a topic that might actually be relevant and interesting to posters around here.

When the vast majority of people here are unified in saying "enough is enough," that should be a sign that its time to either stop the bickering or take it somewhere else.

I never looked at it that way.

You won't have to put up with such nonsense any longer.

You cause me to look for other sources of entertainment.

Of course, you're still encouraged to use this site for non-Brian entertainment. ;)

The comment preview thing was the only thing that really bothered me about your guys' bickering. Obviously any of us can stop viewing a topic that you guys take over.

But (and I only speak for myself) I don't always have time to check all the new comments here on SB. I use the comment preview feature to get an idea of what's going on, and often only end up having a chance to view/comment on recent topics that appear there. When 95% of the most recent comments involve whatever issue there is between the 2 of you, it takes away from the rest of our experience on the site. Even if we try to avoid the topics that get taken over by the 2 of you.

(Though in general I would agree with you that a little off-topic discussion is fine. Its just that this thing between the two of you has escalated to a whole new level)

Maybe I will create one and then you and Brian can bitch back and forth at each other all you want without bothering the rest of us!

I did that once. didnt work.

The childish bickering takes away from the site. There are numerous threads that were hijacked by this annoying crap and is far from occasional banter. It's aggravating and, again, takes away from the site and the threads.

Wow the one things that liberals and conservatives can agree on! el mahico and Brian need to take there feud elsewere...
