After four attempts -- including enlisting the help of Governor Ted Strickland AND Congressman Dennis Kucinich -- the appeals board for the Ohio unemployment compensation/OJFS has consistently refused my valid appeal regarding gross underreporting of earnings on my original claim. Once my second extension runs out, the amount of underpaid benefits on my claim will amount to $7,500.00.

I keep reading that remark and every time it brings me to tears, sadness, anger, frustration, disbelief--I cannot tell you the range of emotion. I do not know why anyone would even want to be a police officer anymore in the community of Sylvania Township. For, be sure, those so-called "bad apples" so callously and carelessly named are genuinely good police officers.

My most recent blog-based project is a 4 episode video series that chronicles a 1000 mile motorcycle trip through NW Ohio and Lower Michigan.

They say the voters are never wrong, and that is certainly the case with the Sylvania merger issue. In this instance the status quo is pretty good. Both Sylvania governments are currently financially sound and providing similar services to their residents. My motivation in pursuing the merger was to secure lower real estate taxes for everyone in both jurisdictions and a lower earned income tax rate in the entire community.

With November 4 just a day away, State Senator Mark Wagoner and State Rep. Barbara Sears are finishing their elections strong, eager to get back to Columbus and serve Northwest Ohio citizens. This effort has been recognized by local community members, such as Jan Lowe from Waterville via a letter-to-the-editor in the Maumee Mirror Newspaper:
