Three masked men with walkie-talkies and guns, one of whom had an AK-47 assault rifle, robbed the National City Bank branch in north Toledo this morning of an unspecified amount of money, Toledo police said.

Robbers with AK47's....
The shootout erupted at the Bank of America in North Hollywood when officers responded to an alarm shortly after the bank opened. As many as five robbers were believed to be involved, police said.
After the robbery went awry, the bandits fled the bank and one of them brazenly strolled back and forth in an adjacent parking lot, reeling off round after round from an AK-47-style assault rifle until he was killed by police.
A second robber limped to a heavily fortified getaway car and slowly drove about two blocks before commandeering a pickup truck while still in his car. The truck driver fled, and after transferring some weapons into the truck, the gunman climbed into the pickup, then got out and opened fire at police before being shot to death by the officers.

pay me enough to work at a bank in the hood.
I read the comment before the actual "post". I was going to correct NC that this event happened Feb.28, 1997 in California. Then found that something did happen in Toledo.
Wow! Pretty organized. Took the time to set up communications. Wonder if someone is raising money for a terrorist op combined with the Nazi rally. Lots of "soft" targets in one place if people are fool enough to show up. Wouldn't put it past either Al Queda or the anarchists. They love their bombs.
and if they got loot from the vault by tellers/mgr. that had the right keys & combos with them, they got a good chunk of $. These guys really seem to know what they are doing, and the fact that they conked the male worker on the head worries me. It sounds like things could easily escalate if someone made a confusing move at the wrong time.
I was thankful not to get robbed while I was there. There were robberies before I came and a violent one after I left. Ack.
Because these banks blatantly violate the civil rights of their employees by demanding that they cannot be armed to resist such assaults, then the robbers know full well that as police presence drops, banks are more available for the looting. As the looting progresses, inevitably a criminal will take the next level of ego inflation and will just start shooting people in the bank for the fun of it.
When it comes to crime, there is always a war. The criminals have declared war against the law abiding citizens and it behooves said citizens to admit they are under attack.
Does anyone remember the vast array of assurances before 911 about how we had to remain calm and just do what the hijackers said? THAT worked out well, didn't it? Since then, hijackings cannot succeed in America. When confronted by crime, the citizen must fight, and at least airline passengers understand that now.
But ... when will bank employees understand that? Will they wait until gunned down in some bank branch in Toledo?
...but we would also have to accept the fact that probably more people would die because someone gets mad at someone, and blows them away in the bank.
This would make a most interesting legal case. The right of an employee to be armed in a profession deemed to be dangerous, bank teller, then the 7-11's will be armed, the Kroger's, money there and so on.
"Since then, hijackings cannot succeed in America."
We do not know for sure and there have been many reports of missing TSA equipment, uniforms, badges and so on.

Oh, stop. You cannot demonize or illegitimize self defense. If it's a termination offense to arm yourself against armed thugs, then it's equally a termination offense to misuse your personal armament. In other words, if you're afraid of being fired for one, you should be afraid of being fired for the other.
Liberty isn't safe. Safety is not what makes liberty useful and wonderful. We've gone so far down the unconstitutional road that we don't even understand the rights and responsibilities of liberty.
However, a TSA agent on a plane still cannot effect a hijacking since the passengers will mob him. I'm not sure I understood what you meant?
To suggest that arming bank tellers is some how a constitutional infringement is a stretch unless of course the framers meant a militia in banks.

You do not understand what I meant, about what? Lil' help here, please.

I don't see how a hijacker can succeed even if he's wearing a TSA uniform. A hijacking is still a hijacking and Americans won't tolerate that any further.
The uniforms have gone missing. So, someone could show up for work and not be a TSA agent and allow a person with some device or weapon on board.
The few times I have flown there have been TSA agents in uniforms.
