Back from the dead

The decline of major American industries such as steel, textiles, and tobacco threatened to turn these six towns into economic wastelands. Instead, local officials sought out new industries, reinventing their towns as meccas for biotech, software development, and telecoms.

I think we should be talking to these types of communities and replicating their efforts here in Toledo to draw technologies into the city. The UT Technology Park in S. Toledo is all ready to accept these types of businesses and could serve as a stepping stone for future development throughout the city.

They're too busy pointing out which other cities have 'this tax' and 'that tax' to spend any time looking at what other failing cities do to pull themselves out of their mess.

That and the people who represent the "way it's always been done" in Toledo are still the puppet masters for Carty and council.

if our local government won't explore these options, maybe we need a citizens' commission or council to do it?

I mean if the government won't do it - how long do we wait?
