The Utah State Attorney General is investigating whether College football is violating anti-trust laws with the Bowl Championship Series.

Personally I believe it has. Utah, the only perfect team this year, wasn't even given a serious look. The "mid-major" conferences have to be perfect to get in while the BCS conferences get in automatically despite inferrior records.

Please place Darlene Fisher on the OSFC TPS committee

By Warren Woodberry:

At the recent TPS meeting, Thursday Jan. 8, 2009 Steven Steel was nominated and successfully re-elected as president of TPS. No surprises there as the steps to city council become shorter if you can come into the election with a high profile position. No one begrudges a person trying to secure a higher position, but their judgment is highly

Latta does not like the Democrats removing opportunities to speak out on legislation

WASHINGTON- On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed H.Res. 5, a rules package for the 111th Congress which limits the amount of debate legislation will receive. Specifically, H.Res. 5 eliminates the ability to highlight key policy differences during floor debate. After voting against H.Res. 5, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement:

The Newsmeister is reporting Amy Finkbeiner broke her arm

George Tanber is reporting the Mayor's wife will have surgery on her broken arm.

TOLEDO, Ohio - Ice and the city's First Lady have a thing going on - a thing she could do without.

For the second time in a decade, Amy Finkbeiner took a spill on a slick surface, breaking her arm. The most recent incident occurred Christmas Eve on the front steps of the South Toledo home she shares with her husband, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner.

Week long lay off & trash pickup

A friend of mine works for the city and we were talking the other day about the upcoming week long layoff coming in February -- and possibly several other times this year-- and she mentioned that she'd heard* something about the refuse workers getting their layoff slips.

Which led me to wonder, if they in fact will be off for a week, how exactally is that possible? Or perhaps it is better asked, How can that be right?

The lay off is to save the city money supposedly. I get that but in this case I don't see how it is fair to Toledo.

Joe the Plumber: War Correspondent?

TOLEDO, Ohio--Joe the Plumber is taking on a new job.

The Ohio man, who became famous during the U.S. presidential campaign after asking Barack Obama about his tax plan, is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for a conservative Web site called pjtv.com.

Dubbed "Joe the Plumber" by McCain's campaign, Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher was held up as an example of an American worker who would be hurt economically by Obama's election.

LATTA TAKES OATH OF OFFICE, READY TO BEGIN WORK IN NEW CONGRESS

WASHINGTON- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) took his Oath of
Office for the 111th Congress today and released the following
statement:

"I am humbled and honored to represent the constituents of Ohio's Fifth
District in the United States House of Representatives. I look forward
to working with my colleagues to address the challenges our great Nation
faces. As we begin debate on many important issues, I hope we can reach
bipartisan agreement to achieve energy independence, lower taxes, and

What message does funding carenet but not police send?

Council passed the budget tonight. I heard all of the sob stories from council members on TV on how they had no money for a police and fire class. I had to wipe a tear from my eye. Then the anchor said they funded Carenet. My eyes dried up quite quickly. To me it says they have no clue on priorities. And we wonder why we don't have any jobs, people are leaving. What about you? We should be so honored to have such bright leaders in council.

Why I defend Jon Stainbrook

After reading Brian's comment that I was up Jon Stainbrook's ass, I felt it was important to clarify my feelings about Jon Stainbrook and the Lucas County Republican Party.

Carty calls together area clergy

I received this email from www.cedarcreek.tv . It looks suspicious to me for Carty to do this.

nstead of New Community being at Perrysburg this January, we will be meeting as a group of churches for a city wide prayer meeting for the state of the city. Lee and Ed recently attended a meeting with Carty Finkbeiner and the following is what he organized.

Carty gathered the pastor’s together from the city to organize a city wide event.

Bolton and Yoo advocate a return to Senate's treaty powers

Tagged:

Remember Bolton and Yoo, the two neo-cons from the expiring administration? Among other things, Bolton fought the US's approval of the International Criminal Court and Yoo wrote the infamous memos approving the use of torture. Both have now co-written a NY Times op-ed piece saying the Senate must regain control of treaty powers. What duplicity and arrogance! What cynicism! After having spent eight years subverting due process, checks and balances, and constitutionality, they now espouse support for those principles for the new administration.

Jon Stainbrook's 6 month tally

I composed this tally for thread on Glass City Jungle.
Talk about ineffective leadership, let’s look at Jon's accomplishments in the last 6 months:
-Forgets to file paperwork to get Jan Scotland on the ballot, blames everyone and their uncles. His own mistake cost citizens the right to a second choice. Of course that is a “rookie mistake” although I can’t remember any other rookies making this mistake in the past.

Politics 101: Don't try to rewrite history with someone who made it

There is something wrong with someone who writes to clarify the record, has the record rewritten on behalf of the “President of the Toledo Board of Education”. That sums up what Steven Steel tries to do in a response from a community member trying to clarify some misconceptions.
