"The secretary in now on suspension with pay."

boy that's a slap on the wrist.

care about these children. Diane Irving said that it was a "human" error. No it was a stupid, inexcusable error. What if the mother's ex-boyfriend decided to harm the little girl?
What is wrong with these people?

John Foley is in over his head.

I agree Twila. I will even take it a step further...

After reviewing everything that is going on at TPS, it is time for a change!

Change I believe should always start from the top.

#1 John Foley needs to resign

#2 this teacher should be terminated immediately

Before you make accusations, have your facts straight, it was not a teacher. Rather the office staff, who made a bad choice and is now on leave. TPS admits to the mistake and I am sure they have learned from the situation.

How many employees does TPS have?
Are they human or machine?
Humans do make errors and mistakes and they learn from them. It is an unfortunate MISTAKE and all are very thankful this child is OK. John Foley and our BOE will make sure this kind of situation never happens again, I can assure you.

Sandy,

Whether TPS is human or a machine is not the question. Humans makes errors, and machines break...and TPS is in a league of it's own...they always make excuses for what they do or don't do.

Sandy, whether it was a secretary or a teacher...that is irrelevant! the fact of the matter is that a child was placed in harm's way.

Sandy, close your eyes and think about this for a moment...What if something tragic happened to this child? How would you feel? What could you possibly say to that family? What do you think should happen to the secretary?

Now open up your eyes.....and stop dreaming! How would you feel if this happened to your son or daughter?

Again....Foley needs to resign and the secretary should be terminated.

And also, if you think this was just an honest mistake...and if you are a teacher or work at a TPS school, please let the public know which school...so that we can keep our child away from that school....as it is evident that there are some workers at TPS who put children in harms way, and then simply call it a mistake!

how can you assure us, what authority do you have?

++++TPS admits to the mistake and I am sure they have learned from the situation.++++
TPS had no alternative but to admit to the "mistake" because a child was missing, trust me if they could have, they would have kept it quiet but parents are tired of the mess TPS is putting down.

TPS is no longer a credible institution and parents and the community are tired of them eliminating the future of our children. No more!

a day last school year when I had to pick up my 4th grade niece from class at Crossgates Elementary. This was on an emergency basis with no pre-notice to the school administration that I was there to collect her.

I casually strolled right up to the front of the school building, a strange man in his 40's, grabbed my niece by the hand as she exited the building and walked back to the car and loaded her in. NO ONE ever questioned who I was or what I was doing. No parent, No teacher, No secretary, No bus driver, NOBODY. I could have been anybody up to no good.

I did not think too much of it at the time but now that I have had time to reflect back, is this considered 'normal' security measures at TPS elementary schools? If it is; it defidently needs to be reviewed and strengthen.

I have been asked to pick up my brother's three children at least a half-dozen times in the last year. The mother has custody of the children (by court order) from 8 PM to 8 AM. Then my brother assumes custody. If he isn't able to pick up the kids he has asked me to do it. I don't know if I am on any list. I just wait outside looking anxiously for the first boy to show up, and then waiting for the others (hoping that some "pervert" won't pick them up). I have never been challenged on this.

And yet the secretary at this school is supposed to keep track of the mother's latest boyfriend who comes to pick up the child. I wonder if the list had been updated? And what is to be done in the meantime if neither the mother nor another boyfriend doesn't show up? The schools have a lot more responsibility than when I went to school. Responsibility for admistering the tranquilizers (a secretary at the elementary school where my mom worked in the kitchen once opened a drawer on her desk to show it crammed full of drugs that she was responsible for giving to the various kids who were sent down by their teachers at various times to be dosed), responsibility to make sure the kid goes to the newest boyfriend, and responsibility to make sure kids learn when the kids know all they have to do is concentrate on their "layups" to make the pros.
