a quarter. Call somebody who gives a shit.
Chad you are starting to sound like an infomercial. Take a break.
As far as I know, there's no elf forcing you to read my posts. The choice is yours.
Pay Attention!.....Life happens Fast.
If you want to know a little more about who I am
not really...
I actually went out there and read the story. a bundle of clothing and some knives and what all sealed up under a stairs?
This preceeded by a flood and sinkholes appearing on your property?
Sounds like the prolog to a ghost story! Have things started going bump in the night at your house?
Tough crowd. Ouch.
where the milk of human kindness is leaking from, is it?
Chad - that's unbelievable. I apologize - you may have posted this info - but how did you come to buy that particular house?
And the bag you found, was it wet? I'm wondering if it was not wet on top - if there was dirt/debris there? Or maybe it had been dumped recently?
We were actually looking at another a block up, for a couple of years. This one was occupied until a year before we bought it. It was a bank repo and our pal let me know the day the sign went in the yard. I looked at it the next day and put in an offer.
This house is smaller than we originally wanted by several rooms. The other we had interest in had 33 rooms. After looking this one over, we decided it would do and would better fit our finances in renovation.
It was not a "bag", it was a sheet all bundeled up and half burried in dirt that was apparently put there to cover it. I'm thinking the dirt washed away with the double flood. Inside the sheet were the clothing items and the knives and cell phone. In the remainder of the dirt were the other items. It has to be sifted through and items were removed from the dirt.
It's obvious that it was hidden there intentionally. Why?? who knows.. I'm just glad the crap is gone so I can finish the cleanning. I hope the Police look into it and find out why it was there, who put it there and followup with it. I'm almost certain it had to have been there 2 years, but it could be as little as 14 months. The house vas vacant but vandalized for a year prior to our purchase.
Yikes!
It IS a tough crowd on this thread...
Without taking a few hits. In find it odd tht anyone even reads my stuff. All new to me. I'm not always right, I know that and admit as much. At least I try for a positive solution. I don't see half as many ideas as I do criticism of ideas.
I can accept that some just like to bitch, that's cool. But why waste a good tallent? Put your mind, energy and tallents to work for the good of the City. Come up with good ideas and push them to center stage.
You can analize someting to death, but if you get no answers/ solutions, what's the point? I thought "debate" was intended to prove the values/merrits of sometihng and resolve things. Debate being the determining factor in the winning position.
Thanks to those that follow, and I'm sorry you feel that way to those that don't.
what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
Well put chad. If we really want Toledo to turn around, everyone needs to develop a good attitude about the city. While I think the Toledo Pride campaign is a little over the top, I can't help but think that a little pride is necessary.
Indeed.
Thanks junta....
Pride is lonely without self respect. Toledo lacks respect in a serious way. Toledoans must take "pride" in themselves some, take pride in their City and in the cummunity that surrounds us all. Self respect and true pride of accomplishment come from hard work, self sacrifice and being willing to go for the gold ring without trashing everyone and everything around you.
I don't bow my head when I tell people where I live or where I'm from. I hold my head up because I know in my heart and soul that Toledo is a ripe, full, life adventure waiting to happen. Sure Toledo has problems, but we created them and we can fix them. "Blame" starts at the doorstep of everyone livng here. So blaming and ridiculing and carrying on without a goal is a waste of time and energy.
It is far better to recognize the issues of concern, allow that it may just be chance or circumstance in some cases, but for the most part, we, via appathy have allowed the problems that plauge this city to rise to the level they are.
People love gossip, rumor, anything sensational...that's a universal truth. When it comes down to it, what you have to ask yourself is this: What am I willing to do, what am I willing to delve into and examine, what am I most able to help with? Then focus on that alone and let others who are stronger in other areas deal with their portion. But we must all remember, to keep a watchfull eye on all things, know what's going on everywhere and speak up loud and clear when the direction conflicts with what is sane, reasonable and reality based.
I know that Toledo can be a wonderfull place to live, work and raise a family. It's a flawed beast these days and will always have some issues. It's how we approach it, how we deal with it and how we treat one another that counts. It's not about the finish line, it's about the race.
Much like my house, the City of Toledo will never be completely finished. There will always be more to do, more ajustments, more remodels, more tweeking of things to accomodate life as it changes. Budgets have to be ajusted, sacrifices must be made and sometimes, we will need the expertise of others to make it happen. Sometimes we'll look as if we're doing nothing, other times we'll be in overtime. Life fluxuates a lot, money, drive, ambition, and common sense sometimes take a crap. That's life.
All I know for certian is, if we want to have our thirst for a better life quenched, we better start squeezing the lemons. :-)
