Daylight Saving Time

When I discuss this issue with people, I am consistently surprised that it elicits such strong opinions in so many! I LOVE Daylight Saving Time. To me, the benefits outweigh the negative effects. The extra hour of daylight in the early evenings gives people time after dinner hours to do so many outdoor activities, including yard work and other family projects.
In my personal case, since I am still playing senior softball at my advanced age of 71, and I play at Navarre Park where there are no lights, it allows us old people, (Yes! We do have a couple of women in our league.), to get two games in before dark (most nights). We start at 6:00 P.M., mainly because many senior citizens are still working regular hours and have a hard time arriving much before 6:00. We do start 15 minutes earlier in August because we have less hours of sunlight in August.
I have a hard time imagining how our league could function at our current facility if there would be no Daylight Saving Time. And, I know that, at least in the earlier days of summer, there are many youth baseball and softball leagues which play in evenings on fields throughout our area which have no lights as well. What would happen to them? And when would people who work regular hours have the daylight to use after dinner and/or after work hours in the summer to get their outside work done? Remember, most retail businesses today are open on Saturdays and Sundays as well as the "normal" work week. And, many people who have "normal" work hours also have a second job to work at on weekends.
BTW -- The proper term is "Daylight Saving Time." There is no "s" on the end of saving when used properly. I looked it up.

I'm in total agreement. Hate when it's dark before I even get home from work

That's the way I see it!

I agree with Bucknut!

Hope I didn't offend anyone!

We go off Daylight Saving Time EARLY Sunday morning at 2:00 O'Clock. 2:00 O'Clock becomes 1:00 O'Clock (for a second time) EARLY Sunday morning.
I like to keep it simple: Spring Forward-Fall Back. This is Fall, so we turn the clocks back.
Enjoy your extra hour of sleep!
