Sauder Village Opening Week and Quilt Show

Sauder Village officially opens this week near Archbold, OH. It is a fascinating place to visit in and of itself. This week, they are having their annual Quilt Show in the Founders Hall. Hundreds of quilts will be on display. Here is a link to their website:

In addition, in a tour of the village, visitors can see many buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries and watch crafts being done by contemporary experts in their fields. These crafts include pottery, tin smithing, glass blowing, and blacksmithing. The on-site museum has innumerable antiques and collectibles from those early times as well.
Included among the old buildings is the original place where Erie Sauder started handcrafting so many items. This has grown into a large, local business making furniture of all types. Erie Sauder also started the non-profit village in his family's name to commemorate all of those early settlers who braved the frontier and made their homes in Northwest Ohio.

Plan for a meal there, too. A full service restaurant, The Barn, is on the site and serves home-style food. And there are several places within Sauder Village itself to get other food as well, including an old-fashioned ice cream parlor!
