Did they do a purge? It would seem the most likely thing that occurred.

Contact Fred Lefebvre. He can personally contact JR. I know he can cause he had me deactivated at TT so I'm sure he can influence in the other way.

Back to your old ways? Both Fred and JR have stated here this is untrue. Jr also stated you broke the site rules. And you have admittedly lied on here before.

Now, anyone can personally contact JR through the site. This is not limited to any one person.

So why don't you either contact JR or stop lying and go back to posting about the pipeline that no one cares about.

MikeyA

Not true JR does not return contacts. Also I did not do anything wrong. I only questioned whymore entertainment districts are need downtown.

Our daughter and her family live in Swanton. We go to her house almost every week. Every time we go there, I see anti-pipeline signs on private property there. It's a legitimate issue.

Yes Dale it is a legitimate issue. Last time I checked my blog, Fulton County Ohio: Nexus Pipeline coming to Swanton Ohio http://swampbubbles.com/blogs/mrindependent/20141020/fulton-county-ohio-... had some 13,300 hits. I used this site to promote nationally what was not being reported locally. Since then the Toledo Blade and several other area newspapers have carried the issue. I thank SwampBubbles for letting me break the story of the Swanton NEXUS pipeline. Since Fred Lefebvre has left this site and WSPD has moderated its rightwing extremism I've moved on to other issues. Being a union retiree it allows me the freedom to volunteer in ways that employed people cannot. MikeyA consider the following article if you think no one cares about the pipeline. NEXUS pipeline route may avoid Oak Openings http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2015/05/08/NEXUS-pipeline-route-may-avo...

issue forward in a positive way. People often complain about the "needless" public hearings, but this situation points out why these hearings are so important. Sometimes things can be changed!
There is no perfect scenario. Product needs to be moved. There is always some NIMBY involved with these projects. The least we should do is to get a project done with the least possible harm to the environment and to the lands needed to bring the project to fruition for the betterment of the greatest number of people.

Pipelines are a much safer way to move products. This is just a fact. The product will be moved. So the question of where will it move thru is what's left. Now, knowing what government can do one must have a compelling reason of where it should move and why.

For this reason is why I generally believe it should be located with existing infrastructure. Highways, train tracks, power lines, etc. it's harder to fight an eyesore if there is already an eyesore there.

MikeyA

How do you figure 13k hits on that topic? I would bet swampbubbles alone only gets 13k hits in about a month. Chris can tell us the stats he sees.

Plus hits do not equal people especially if a small group is motivated. If They refresh the page frequently then that 13k can quickly dwindle to 1000 or less. That's why those commenting are a good indicator of motivated people. Since your posts about the pipeline get few commenting I am willing to bet it gathers little interest outside of those moderately curious.

MikeyA

Mikey you have a nice day!

And you as well

Well, sort of. A few of the now-extinct users went over the top with inflammatory comments and ignored JR's requests to chill out. Ergo, they got deleted. Fucknut knows exactly why his account was deleted, as does AC. As usual, he's playing the innocent victim.

Jr put the kibosh on signups once people like myself and AC got booted from the site. Our manners may have been acerbic but our willingness to address uncomfortable issues is what sparked the most ire.

Truth is often harsh and few people have the moral strength required to tolerate it. Jr doesn't have that moral strength. So he's effectively banned the general public from the site to put a stop to hearing the truth said. You can't register a new name and post on the site, at least the last time I checked. In fact I challenge you to find a registration link on the site.

Naturally, Jr doesn't live in Toledo like many people who don't want to hear the truth about Toledo's culture and economy. At least he approximated the truth about his philosophical stance when he advocated "Lake Erie West" to avoid the use of the name "Toledo". Toledo is a deep pit of despondency in the middle of a so-so economic area. Nobody wants to deal with it, since in order to deal with it, you'd have to "do something" about all of Toledo's Blacks. Nobody can survive politically by addressing the inner darkness of Toledo. Nobody wants to talk about race and welfare and government dependency and cultural despondency. Instead of talking about it, they only act, and when they act, they move away from the Blacks. Toledo only gets more hollowed out. The future becomes more Detroitian... in fact that's what's the most alarming, in that we already have a model for what's happening and for what's going to happen, but nobody wants to talk about that either.

So other than squelching participation, ToledoTalk isn't about anything but fluff: Birdwatching, restaurants, the weather... you know, all the stuff that doesn't matter when Toledo is in the throes of a wholesale economic collapse. ToledoTalk is just another part of the larger cultural propaganda; it's there to defuse popular unrest, not to enable it.

On the credit side, Jr has continued to let Econcat88 post there. For all my criticism of Jr, that shows a bit of spine on his part. Even The Blade had to scamper away from Econcat88 with its tail between its legs. Jr could have banned him in 2 seconds, but didn't.

I wish more people could understand how important debating and discussions are toward actual learning. Yeah it can get heated at times. Sometimes downright mean and impolite, but the benefits far outweigh the downside when done properly.

MikeyA

The sad irony being, you have to take the time to explain to people in this nation on these sort of forums about the benefits of freedom of expression. It's like explaining to fish the benefits of water.

How the fuck did we fall this far?

When our Founding Fathers placed Freedom of Speech within the First Amendment, their main concern was open political debate and discussions without government interference or reprisal.
I give Chris so much credit for running this site and keeping this forum as open as possible. I can't remember the last time I went to another such site. Who has the time?

He doesn't have to let me or anyone else he doesn't like on his board.

I find it hard to believe he could be this bitter or petty.

That's right, Pertcheck. Suck up to the SysOp and maybe he'll raise your security level.

You were a brown nose in the school system, and you haven't changed.

Chris and I have nearly polar opposite political opinions. We also have a mutual respect. I wish others here could agree to disagree with some sense of respect similar to the relationships I have with both Chris and MikeyA.

I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to express my opinions here. I find Chris to be fair. If not vilifying someone makes me a "brown nose," I guess I'm guilty.

I agree with Dale. Chris is fair and allows partisan debate. At Toledo Talk you'll do fine if you talk about you favorite recipe or how to fix a garage door. If you wade into politics it decidedly one sided. No toleration for progressive excess. JR will tolerate extreme right wing attacks but forget about an equal defense.

Thanks. I thought I was missing something.

You are missing something, fucknut. It's called an account, and the SysOp deleted it because of an asinine comment you made. You'd have to ask JR just which comment it was that pushed you over the top and out the door, but since he's (wisely) not responding to your emails, you're relegated to your typical jejune questions and inane comments at SwampBubbles.

The same thing happened to AnonymousCoward, who chose to ignore the rules of the man who is hosting the site and posted one too many inflammatory comments, then predictably got suspended. Permanently.

No big deal to me. Since it's not such a user friendly site I just thought I couldn't find a way to re-join that may have existed.

I don't know why you've got to get all pissy about it. It's not like it's really that important. I guess I couldn't be shiny, happy people holding hands on every post I made. Life goes on.
