Let's put the Obama vacation and golfing right-wing b*llsh*t to rest right now

"Presidents don't get vacations — they just get a change of scenery. The job goes with you." -- NANCY REAGAN

Next right-winger here who makes a vacation-related remark is guilty of hypocrisy and making a liar out of The Most Holy Nancy Reagan.

The Obama apologists (and believe me--there's a lot to apologize for) are falling all over themselves to compare Obama to other Presidents' vacation time.

Here's a little research that should keep the liberals busy for awhile. Compare how many vacation days that Obama, Bush, and Reagan spent at locations other than Camp David or places that they personally owned (e.g. ranches). It's the money, stupid.

Let's criticize someone who is wealthy by the standards of common folks, but NOT so wealthy as those who have their own ranches and/or family complexes in vacation areas. Poor little W. "Where should I vacation THIS time? Should it be Camp David? Too quiet. How about the ole ranch in Texas. I was just there last week. I know! It's a nice summer day...so let's go up to the family complex in Kennebunkport this time!"

Poor Ronnie. "You know, Momma, I really get bored at Camp David. Let's go out to the California ranch THIS time! And...we'll have the Secret Service keep those nasty news people far, far away for 'security reasons,' hee, hee.'"

Get over it! Obama is in the middle of all POTUSes when it comes to "vacation" time. How about this source, Ronald Reagan, "I think Nancy put it best: Presidents don't get vacations. They just get a change of scenery. And you're still President. The job goes with you."
Now, I know that many of you "true believers" would probably call Reagan a RINO. But, at one time, he was considered to be the most important and effective conservative POTUS in our nation's history. This quote appeared as a part of an article in the TCPalm, Florida, on Feb. 17, 2013, written by Eve Samples.
But aka Galt -- Please, please, please, don't allow facts to get in the way of your opinions...EVER!!!

The Out-of-Towner
While Bush vacationed, 9/11 warnings went unheard.

Quote from article:

"In an otherwise dry day of hearings before the 9/11 commission, one brief bit of dialogue set off a sudden flash of clarity on the basic question of how our government let disaster happen.
The revelation came this morning, when CIA Director George Tenet was on the stand. Timothy Roemer, a former Democratic congressman, asked him when he first found out about the report from the FBI's Minnesota field office that Zacarias Moussaoui, an Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747. Tenet replied that he was briefed about the case on Aug. 23 or 24, 2001.
Roemer then asked Tenet if he mentioned Moussaoui to President Bush at one of their frequent morning briefings. Tenet replied, "I was not in briefings at this time." Bush, he noted, "was on vacation." He added that he didn't see the president at all in August 2001. During the entire month, Bush was at his ranch in Texas. "You never talked with him?" Roemer asked. "No," Tenet replied. By the way, for much of August, Tenet too was, as he put it, "on leave."

Oh, and how much *did* it cost in Secret Service, security, use of Air Force One, etc. every time Chimpy McFlightsuit decided to go cut brush on the ranch?

HOW ABOUT THAT MONEY, MORON?

Let's see, 77 trips on Air Force One to Crawford... how much did that cost?

What's your next argument going to be, that this shouldn't count because Bush was "working from home"?

Thank God you didn't call Obama "Chimpy" something because that would clearly be racist.

focus on the person making the post instead. Well done!

What argument would I be losing?

You're the one getting personal instead of debating the issue.

The real issue is whether Obama has taken any strokes off his game. Why won't his simpatico press tell us? But we can be reasonably certain that, if his game reflects the time he takes to respond to foreign crises, he stands for about an hour over any putt longer than five feet.

Patience is a great virtue.

I may not agree with it, but it is fair criticism in the appropriate context.

Wow

PBS--now that's an unbiased source.

Oh my God, you are calling PBS biased over a SIMPLE COUNT OF VACATION DAYS.

Pretty goddamn easy to, you know, FACT CHECK that. Please, oh please, post your Fox News Fair and Balanced counter-claim. PLEASE PROCEED.

I bet you were one of those Gore lackeys who complained about the SIMPLE COUNT OF VOTES.

You can't show statistically that Obama vacations more than any other POTUS, so you try to change the focus of the topic. I applaud you. This is a very good debating technique.

Well he can't simply admit that in his eyes and the eyes of the majority of the GOP voting bloc that nothing Obama can do is "right" except perhaps drop dead or resign and hand over the reins to Mitt Romney or Boehner or Rafael Eduardo "Ted" Cruz, so instead he's gotta attack Obama for anything Obama does including taking a vacation, no matter what HIS side has done in the past or is doing in the present. Notice how there's zero criticism for BOEHNER's golfing, despite the fact that Congress is doing jack shit and can't pass any bills. Anyone want to place bets on how many bills are sitting on Boehner's desk while he goes out golfing? Wanna place bets on whether Galt lacks the manhood and testicular fortitude to criticize Boehner just as harshly as he's criticized Obama, or whether he'll deflect and try to rationalize it by saying Boehner's job isn't as important. It's not like Boehner's been partly responsible for shutting down the government despite having a clean bill to fund the government on sitting on his desk waiting for a vote or anything, you know, IMPORTANT like that EVER.

This is part of why I'm ANTI-REPUBLICAN. They have nothing but criticism for how Obama does ANYTHING yet they have no ideas and get in the way of Obama doing anything then blame Obama for not getting anything done, and they won't do their ACTUAL jobs, they just think their job is to yell about Obama and act like children... and if you call them out on it they either deflect, refuse to debate, or admit they're being complete hypocritical assholes and say "so what?"

You watch, it'll either be them ignoring this, or saying "so what, Boehner isn't Obama", or pretending they didn't see this and attacking Obama again.

Boehner is not Obama in many regards, including getting to the 19th hole much earlier than the president. The speaker has a respectable 8-handicap while the president is saddled with a 17-handicap, according to a leading golf publication. Veep Biden impresses not only with his oratory skills but on the links with a 6-handicap. Since excellent golf skills, like belief in a deity and the ability to crack wise, is an attribute we want in our commander in chief, the 2016 presidential race rightfully should pit Rep. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) against Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn). Each boasts a 2-handicap.

Patience is a great virtue.

the debate was about who golfed the most; not who golfed the best. Of course, the way some people choose the person for whom they cast their ballot, maybe golf handicap would work as a better measuring rod.

Some of you folks are interested in time on the course; I'm interested in results. Do you watch football to see which players play the most minutes? Do you purchase movie tickets based on the run-time of the films? I couldn't care less how often Obama plays golf. I want to know if he can put the ball in the cup.

Patience is a great virtue.

Look, stupid AnonymousCoward, as everyone can plainly see the Ayatollah Obongo is black. African American, if you will. A person of color. Now stop and try to think for a millisecond or two; How many blacks did you see the last time you were out golfing? I mean excluding Tiger Woods.

One? None?

So wouldn't it naturally follow that he wouldn't spend nearly the amount of time on a golf course that Ronnie or George did?

According to the website "Statistics Brain," the average household income of a golfer is $95,000. According to the website BlackDemographics.com, the median income for African-American families is $40,946, which is 34.5% less than the median income for white families of $62,527. So, it makes sense that one would see fewer African-Americans on a golf course, than one would see at your average supermarket.

Now, even though Twila hates it when I make this reference, I grew up in Toledo's inner city. We were on a dead end street named Marcella Court, near Bancroft between Upton and Auburn. I only had ONE friend who golfed. He only had a few used clubs that someone had thrown away, and he would forage for golf balls in the woods at the Ottawa Park Golf Course. He sometimes took the 5 finger discount route at our local discount store on Bancroft and Auburn, too.
I never took up golf because I couldn't afford to play. It's an expensive sport! Like most inner city kids, I played baseball, football, and basketball. We lived less than 100 feet away from Clinton Park. It had a dirt basketball court, and all we needed was a basketball to have a game. In the summer the Toledo Recreation Program supplied a Park Supervisor, and that person had some additional equipment. We loved it! It's called "quality of life." And it kept many of us from doing the evil which idle hands too often do.

Your friend probably played the back nine. If you time it right, you can slip in between two groups and play the back nine holes which are more or less out of sight of the clubhouse. The key is to dress right and pretend you're invisible until it's time to tee off. I used to do this quite a bit at a country club, and never got caught.

I never went with him when he golfed, nor when he used the five finger discount to obtain golf balls at the store I believe was called Family Fair on the corner of Bancroft and Auburn.
BTW -- This was about 55 years ago.

Oh, so what you're saying is Obama shouldn't be golfing because golf is not a Black sport and only White people should be entitled to play it, therefore the amount of time Obama's been golfing is an anomaly that deserves the attention you give to it since Black people don't play golf (except for Tiger Woods).

Got it.

Perhaps Obama should spend our taxpayer dollars to stick up a basketball hoop out back of the White House, do ya think? Would that be less controversial for you? I mean he wouldn't even have to leave the grounds! Think of the savings! Hell, that begs the question of why we didn't tell Bush to fire the White House groundskeepers so he could just cut the brush and all that himself rather than wasting our money flying to Crawford to do it 77 times. Why didn't we just put a horse stable up and let Saint Ronaldus Maximus Reagan put on his cowboy hat and boots and ride up and down Pennsylvania Avenue?

Unless his time as a caddy is included.

Personally I find this funny.

As I've said before, I feel the President deserves vacations, it's a tough job. Also I don't think even on vacation they're ever really away especially if they're at their "home" because the secret service sets up react rooms.

With both Bushes I have no doubt there was a such room with ability to connect to the JCS, VP, and other members of the cabinet. With Clinton and Obama they didn't take "home" vacations so it would have been done more mobile but still doable.

I've said before it's the President's image that he's hurting. By golfing he's giving the image that he doesn't care or is aloof to the problems of the country even though that is probably not true. He should restrict his golfing to places where he's not easily photographed like on military installations where his detail can control who has access (I had one such occurance where I was on base and told to turn around and take another route, I found out later it was because GWB was golfing on the base course).

I find it funny because he's actually affecting his party's brand at this point. There are reports that he will not be going to any battleground states in the coming election. It's looking more and more like Hilary's campagin will have to distance herself drastically if it doesn't kill it outright.

Great photo-ops, hide away at least some recreational activities. Some notable gaffs -- "Missions Accomplished" sign. Overall, much more politically astute.

Yeah, how about the photo op with McCain's birthday cake and playing guitar during Katrina, those were politically astute.

Karl Rove did a fine job locking down media access, for the most part.

The Hilary and Obama camps don't get along anyhow. You guys were doing Hilary's work for her since it was the Hilary camp that really ramped up the Birtherism BS. Good job, guys!

"That theory first emerged in the spring of 2008, as Clinton supporters circulated an anonymous email questioning Obama’s citizenship.

“Barack Obama’s mother was living in Kenya with his Arab-African father late in her pregnancy. She was not allowed to travel by plane then, so Barack Obama was born there and his mother then took him to Hawaii to register his birth,” asserted one chain email that surfaced on the urban legend site Snopes.com in April 2008.""
