Chip Shannon is the next man up for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald, stepping in to assume the role of campaign manager in the midst of a mass exodus from FitzGerald’s team.

Shannon, 28, is the “permanent” replacement for former FitzGerald campaign manager Nick Buis, who left his post Monday night along with communication director Daniel McElhatton and consultants Aaron Pickrell and Louis Capobianco. Shannon’s promotion was confirmed by FitzGerald press secretary Lauren Hitt, who may also end up leaving FitzGerald’s team.
