Kasich's illegal appointment to Director of Health

Defend this, conservatives!

On Friday afternoon Kasich released a statement saying he was going to appoint Rick Hodges as Director of the Ohio Department of Health. Hodges, a former lawmaker, currently leads the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Hodges will be replacing Dr. Ted Wymyslo… and that “Dr.” part is kind of important.

According to Ohio Revised Code 121.10:

The director of health shall be either:

(A) A physician holding the degree of doctor of medicine from a medical college approved by the state medical board who, before assuming his duties, has been licensed to practice medicine in the state and who has had experience in pursuing some phase of medical practice;

(B) An individual who has had significant experience in the public health profession.

No votes yet

Heck, Kasich is going to have to "illegally" appoint at least 100 more people before he comes even close to Obama's record. Even the Supreme Court recently voted 9-0 that Obama appointments were unconstitutional. Kasich is a Boy Scout in comparison.

This has nothing to do with Obama, nice try with the diversion though!

Impeaching him.

MikeyA

What is up with you Republicans today and your diversions?

If Democrats are too timid to impeach this overreaching lawbreaker, at the very least they should file with the Ohio Supreme Court asking for a ruling on Kasich's blatantly unconstitutional actions.

Patience is a great virtue.

Statehouse is controlled by Republicans, so tell me exactly how far impeaching Kasich would go.

Yeah, I thought so. Now how about you stop diverting from the issue and defending Kasich?

This has nothing to do with political parties. Your world must be filled with nothing but labels and assumptions.

Patience is a great virtue.

Says the guy whose previous comment mentioned Democrats.

How much Toledo water did you drink?!?! I know they say it's a neurotoxin, but really?

Notice he ignored the court proceeding in lieu of impeachment.

I have no doubt there will be a lawsuit on this and it'll be for the court to decide. From what has been referenced it doesn't look like Kasich's appointment will hold up but let them sue and he can defend it.

MikeyA

So what would you call the reference to Bush--ummmmm, maybe "diversion."

An example of how not to do it! I don't care who the hell does the appointing, I like the people who are doing the job to be knowledgeable and competent at it, and preferably not in the pockets of the people they're supposed to watch over. The House Science Committee shouldn't be filled with morons who couldn't pass a high school bio or chem class, for example!

Inexcusable appt.

... you agree with something I posted, without equivocation?

HEY EVERYONE, SATAN HAS FREE ICE AVAILABLE IN HELL, BRING YOUR OWN CONTAINERS!

What a dick!

Completely agree BN

Inexcusable is inexcusable regardless of political party.

His "inner child" is having a bad day.

I recall reading somewhere that the Governor was also considering appointing someone who had previously held executive/management level positions at county health centers as well as county community hospitals.

I wonder if that would have sufficed as an individual who has had significant experience in the public health profession or if the Plunderpals were going to complain regardless because it was a Kasich appointment?

"executive/management level positions at county health centers as well as county community hospitals"

Yeah, because being a VP or CEO with an MBA brought in to manage a business operation knows all about the business they're brought in to manage.

Ya might want to rethink your idiocy before I bring out the list of CEOs who jumped from job to job because they were "turnaround experts" and B.S. like that.

Promedica's President and CEO has a Masters in Healthcare Administration and a Doctorate in Management. Yeah, I don't think I want him being picked for Health Director, either. His "significant experience in the public health profession" isn't dealing with diseases, it's pushing paper to make money off of sick people.

Sorry, AC, but by your own posting, ORC 121.10 B says Promedica's President and CEO is a legally compliant choice. It's not about what you want. It's about what's legal.

Anyhoo, I make you a deal. Print the text of your madletter to the State Atty Gen on the Kasich-appointment issue, and I'll copy it and send one myself. I can't promise that I'll keep all your "fucks" and "shits" verbatim, but I'll do my best to keep the tone, as it were.

Deal?

Yeah, and one could argue that a hospital janitor meets the requirement you cite as a legal choice. Or the IT director for Promedica would meet it too, I mean, IT people know all about "worms" and "viruses", right?

So... what do you suggest to do about it?

MikeyA

Demand Kasich appoint someone with an appropriate background in public health with an actual medical degree instead of a paper-pushing executive with a doctorate in management, duh. And don't play your defending Kasich word-games when you and your side would go after a Dem gov for the exact same reason. Can we perhaps AGREE that the right person should be appointed to the right job and not have the partisan bullshit, or are you truly incapable of taking any criticism of someone on your side as anything other than a partisan attack?

"Inexcusable" is inexcusable, no matter with which political party the Governor aligns.
Period!
