Liberal-Quality Of Life

Tagged:

Here's one small example of what liberals call quality of life. This is the splash pad at Savage Park on Vance St. near Nebraska. These were taken today at 2:50p when the temp was 78 degrees and it was muggy. Sounds like a perfect time to take advantage of a free quality of life service from your friendly neighborhood Democrats. Each year the pools lose money, this is why.

Perhaps you should shut your piehole before you jam your foot any further in it.

Does your link have anything to do with Toledo tax payers or the swimming pools? I'm surprised you were able to even type with your head so far up your ass.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

Your post has jack shit to do with "liberal quality of life", and I'm not surprised at all that you're obsessed with things being up asses, as most Republicans are horribly repressed closet cases.

Actually anonymousCOWARD you are wrong once again. The term 'quality of life" is used quite often by the elected liberal/Dems on toledo city council to excuse misuse of public funds like pools and splash pads. Do you have any research to show your closet case statement is true, or is that just personal experience on your part?

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

I'd like to think that the absence of kids at the splash pad means they're all participating in the library's Summer Reading Club.

Patience is a great virtue.

Or maybe the photographer asked the kids to stand to the side while the photo was taken.

Fascinating.

Patience is a great virtue.

Keep in mind WE don't know WHEN this pic was taken for real. We just have to trust Fred's word, which is for sale to whichever powers Fred cares to sell out to.

Creative cropping and timing can lead to whatever scenario one likes even without Photoshop.

How much credibility does Fred actually have?

Hahahaha oh ignorant one, why do you say WE? you seem to be the only one unable to read the info on when the pic was taken by a listener. as for my credibility I think mine will stand against yours any day as you are the only one on here to be forced to apologize publicly for anything posted. try again with the powers that buy me also, unless you consider endorsements like ed schultz and other hosts do selling out .

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

RIIIIIIIIGHT. You and your "listener" have no agenda whatsoever and you're going to trust what your "listener" says without verification.

Get your money back from that granny who defrauded KFC? How many of those hoaxes/scandals have you fallen for, Fred LeFEEBLE?

Looking at the shadows in the photos it appears the photos were taken shortly after sunrise. At that time there most likely were only a few people in the park.

No wonder there's a couple of people being shot every day in Toledo--they're not at the pools and the water parks! Here's the plan--when the police apprehend the shooters, they'll shine a bright light in their faces and say, "Didn't you know that we have City pools open? Now, go out and use them."

Whew--another problem solved.

to the "splash pad? Entertainer? I have and it is ok for small children. Small children need to accompanied by their parent. At 2:30 I would suspect parents would be working....Oh I forgot black parents don't work. What is needed is a quality swimming pool along with a program that teaches children how to swim in water over their heads. The splash pad is the same as using a water hose at home. Why spend gas to get to a place that sprays water? Plus you don't know anything about the black experience and water. This is just another case of your denigration of the black community.

Many members of my family go to quality swimming pools through Y memberships and have taken swimming lessons. We didn't expect that the government would pay for these things. We worked as many jobs as were necessary and budgeted for these items. If we couldn't pay for it, we didn't expect others to through taxpayer dollars.

When I was younger my family was poor and we lived in South Toledo. There wasn't a pool nearby so if we couldn't use friends/relatives my parents would set up a sprinkler in the yard. It worked just fine.

MikeyA

If the splash pad is the same as using a water hose at home as you say, why is the city spending tax payer money to open them up? Is it to make residents around Savage Park believe they are being served by their elected officials? I do know the YMCA offers free swimming classes as part of their annual splash program for children of any race. And your comment about blacks and water sounds a little racist. Maybe you don't know your own history, check this out from the international swimming hall of fame - t their first encounter with sub-Sahara Africans in the 1400’s, Europeans explorers found a culturally aquatic people who learned to swim in the coastal and river villages of west Africa, both men and women, as soon as they could walk. For centuries, Africans were regarded as the world’s greatest swimmers and enslaved African swimmers and divers created enormous weath for their masters by harvesting pearls, recovering sunken treasures a working in and around the water. Nineteenth and Twentieth Century racism excised this rich aquatic legacy from Black Culture with these tragic consequences. Today, as many as 80% of African Americans are not competent and comfortable swimmers, and African Americans are 3 to 4 times more likely to drown than whites. Celebrate Black History Month with the International Swimming Hall of Fame by learning about the rich history and inspirational stories of Black Swimmers of the past, present and future.

the pools lose money each year because no one was at a splash pad in the central city.....How big of a leap is that....You are undeniably a ditto head....

No, the pools lose money because the numbers from the city show they do. It's not just one splash pad which I went by today and again so no one using. Maybe the kids are out playing basketball or something, but I saw no kids at the park at all. Each summer I pay a visit to each open pool at least three times to see for myself whether they are being utilized or not. I didn't need the numbers from the city but they validated what I already had seen with my own eyes.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

Careful, Fred.
An old man, especially one carrying a camera, who is spotted frequenting and lingering at locations where small children gather could find himself in trouble with the law.

Patience is a great virtue.

A March 19 city report compared the 2013 costs for the pools versus attendance and found the average taxpayer cost per visit was $8 for the splash pad; $11 for Pickford; $21 for Willys; $33 for Roosevelt; $41 for Navarre, $47 for Jamie Farr, and $87 for Wilson

you know nothing about the black community. Even you can understand that....However you may know a lot about and understand "White Privilege."

Sadly, I don,t know anything about the Black Community either. I would like to study the subject. Where should I go to learn more about it?

Tell you where not to go. Legrange and Mettler.

MikeyA

We know there shouldn't be a "Black community".

You only get away with your racist utterances like that because of the insane public perception that Black people can't possibly be racist.

Actually, black people can't possibly be racist, at least in America. Black people can be prejudiced, but not racist. Racism is a fiscal-based political system in which people of a certain race, whether they comprise a majority or minority, have near-absolute or total control over a nation's wealth and its distribution. Zimbabwe and apartheid-era South Africa are examples. An argument could be made that Israel is racist. Hitler's Germany was racism on steroids. The U.S. government certainly used to be racist and many prejudiced politicians still hold power, but all but a few who still cling to the victimhood label agree that the American system has sorted itself out. And there is no denying that effective Affirmative Action laws helped get us here.

Patience is a great virtue.

Israel is a representative democracy. Israeli Jews who are native to the Middle East are from the same Semitic racial group as are Arabs; therefore, it is impossible for Israel to be a racist country.
Israel has an official religion. Most nations in the world also have an official religion. For example, in Italy, the official religion is the Roman Catholic faith. In England, it's the Church of England. In Greece, it's the Greek Orthodox Church. In Saudi Arabia, it is the Sunni Muslim faith. In Iran, it is the Shia Muslim faith. In India, it is Hinduism. The United States of America is the nation that is different from most others, by not having an official religion. I believe that the United States is better for not having an official religion, but most nations do have an official religion.
Israeli citizens of faiths other than Judaism, and other minority groups in Israel, have more rights than do minorities in any other country in the Middle East, and in many other countries in the world.
Israel is a VERY TINY island of freedom surrounded by a sea of despotism.

(pictures of Teabagger and fundie Xtian Republican voters with signs that the USA is founded on Xtianity)

The idiotic third of America disagrees with you, Dale. Didn't you know all the Founding Fathers were hardcore Christians? That includes Thomas Jefferson, who wrote his own Bible and had and studied a Qur'an.

Isn't it great that ol' TJ blasphemed to the extent of desecrating Christian God's HOLY UNCHANGEABLE WORD (edited and rewritten and translated dozens if not thousands of times) and ran around with a Qur'an and he's a right-wing hero (cue waving flag and crying eagle), but the minute a non-White guy starts looking like he'll win election, OMG OBAMA IS A SECRET MUSLIM USURPER.

Those who know little about history believe that negative campaigning began just a short time ago. In truth, negative campaigning started in America in the Election of 1800, if not before. Because Thomas Jefferson was not a fan of any organized religion, he was branded an atheist by the Federalists. In addition, Jefferson was widely ridiculed for having an affair with Sally Hemings, the personal slave to his deceased wife, Martha Jefferson. Hemings came to live with Thomas Jefferson along with Martha when Martha married Thomas. Hemings was very likely Martha's half sister, sharing the same father.
Jefferson was so victimized by the mostly Federalist-controlled newspapers at the time, that he often ruminated over the problems arising from having a truly free press. As Jefferson stated in 1808, "The papers have lately advanced in boldness and flagitiousness beyond themselves. Such daring and atrocious lies fill the third and fourth columns of the third page of the United States Gazette of August 31st, were never, I believe, published with impunity in any country. However, I have determined to submit myself as the subject on whom may be proved the impotency of a free press in a country like ours, against those who conduct themselves honestly and enter no intrigue." Or as Jefferson put in in another context in 1816, "The man who fears no truths has nothing to fear from lies."

I agree with you that Israel is not racist, although others argue otherwise concerning their treatment of the Palestinian people. You are correct that Semitic alludes to Jews and Arabs, but some think it refers to the roots of the Hebrew and Arabic languages. And while Israel easily affords its citizens the greatest say in their government, Kuwait does have an elected Parliament and an independent judiciary. Not that any of this has anything to do with the misnomer of Black American racism.

Patience is a great virtue.

"Black people can be prejudiced, but not racist."

That's one of the finest pieces of DoubleSpeak that I've seen here in a long time. Doubleplus good, Comrade! Minitrue approves.

Black people can't be racist? Go back to bed DW.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

When black Americans seize political control on the federal and state levels, including the judiciary, and take the reins of Corporate America, including the banking and investment systems, then enact laws and policies designed to deny white Americans of equal educational and economic opportunities, including housing and employment, and target them through unequal enforcement of laws or write laws specific to their Caucasian features and skin color, I will call blacks racist. Until then, they can only be prejudiced. And I wouldn't blame them for feeling that way toward those who believe they somehow have the power to be racist.

Patience is a great virtue.

"[...] enact laws and policies designed to deny white Americans of equal educational and economic opportunities, including housing and employment, and target them through unequal enforcement of laws or write laws specific to their [...] features and skin color"

Except that nobody does this, at least to any noticeable degree. If anything, our laws and policies are written to discriminate against WHITES, per "affirmative action" and other lunacies.

So by your own definition, Liberal managers and legislators in our government are racists. And that actually matches reality.

Your head must be submerged in a full toilet.

I guess we know who is sponsoring those "Anti-Racist is a code word for Anti-White" billboards.

Tell us, is "GuestZero" a code phrase that means something like "Grand Wizard" or "Grand Dragon" or some other Klan title?

"GuestZero" is a code phrase for responsible citizen. I expect* you to change your moniker to AnonymousZero promptly. Chop chop!

I'll bet all the good water is pumped to White pools, and the runoff gets sent to Toledo.

as usual.

What do you expect from the GOP/Tea Party? They specialize in attracting low-information voters.

DTOM, a self-admitted Fox News viewer, is actually STUPIDER than someone who does not watch any news at all.

That's not surprising.
http://www.businessinsider.com/study-watching-fox-news-makes-you-less-in...

That’s impossible, You Ac, and your underling PW, along with your boss Mr. Indy, have that title all wrapped up. I would write it this way; Ac, a self-admitted MSNBC viewer gets his information from a news channel that has a 5% truth rating for reporting the news, which makes him “STUPIDER” than DTOM who watches Fox News, which had the highest rating.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

Hey DTOM, I have repeatedly said I do not have cable and there fore do not watch MSNBC. Would you like to apologize for your slander and false statement now or before a judge?

I tried to be civil with you, but you keep calling me out in your posts. All bets are off now asshole. I will apologize right after you do, you MSNBC watching moron

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

If you don't like it I hear there's a bunch of people on Facebook who share your opinion(s).

MikeyA

gave the best description on why a black person can not be racist that I have read.

Doesn't mean you are racist.....oh wait...yes it does....

Hey how's the treason thing working out for ya?

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Let's just say that a person CAN be a bigoted, prejudiced asshole, without being a racist. Can we agree on that? It's proven here all the time.

I believe in civil discourse. I have called out some of the posters here for stooping too often to profanity and downright nastiness to others who post here. I agree with AC on most issues. However, AC seldom posts here without using profanity and/or highly offensive language directly aimed at those with whom he disagrees.
I have stated before, and I will state again no matter who the poster is, the overuse of profanity not only does not make one's case stronger, it turns some readers off so much, they stop reading what you are writing. If you are writing to put your ideas out there with the notion that your ideas and facts are better than those whom you oppose, you defeat your main purpose by using language which limits the number of people who will read your posts.
BE CIVIL, PLEASE!!

Dale I fully agree with you. Profanity can be used effectively if used in moderation.

Likewise I believe too many on both sides are routinely disrespectful, not only to each other but to our national leaders.

For politicians I have respect for the offices they hold even if I disagree with the individual holding it. For that I do strive to keep a good faith decorum even while arguing against them. Regardless who holds the current office of the President I refer to them just that, with the capital P. Once they leave office I will refer to them by their last hame or in the case of the second President Bush as W just for brevity and clarity.

As far as other posters are concerned. Routine disrespect is too much of a routine on here. Now I will admit there are some posters that due to their continued attacks on people on here hold neither my respect nor good nature. I don't disrespect people just because they don't agree with me. AC being a good example, I do have respect for him. Yet their are others FG, Mike Coon, and purnhrt specifically who's attacks have been so deplorable they have earned zero respect from me and lost that I genuinely hold for my fellow human beings and countrymen.

MikeyA

for Ac, really? I don't see Purnhrt, or FG, talking to you the way Ac has, and does. I have used the words asshole and I abbreviate the F word toward him, and that's just recently. I tried to be civil with him, and said so in responses, Ac is a hypocrite, he will condemn the ways of others, while doing it himself. I just don't see how you can say you respect him after his word usage toward you, that one I don't get.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

The difference is AC will actually cite things and normally they are from credible sources. He and I have been going back and forth since '05. Despite his profanity he's actually smart. He's passionate and partisian. But he does at least understand that debating isn't so much winning and losing as it is exchanging information. I would lie if I didn't say he's caused me to think through why I believe what I believe on multiple occasions.
You are right about him being a hypocrite and yes that does diminish my respect of him but I feel he deep down believes what he says he believes.

FG and purnhrt however are not intellectuals in any sense.

purnhrt is a racist. Other than posts on TPS if it doesn't relate to the Black community she doesn't really care. She only posts more on political issues because the President is black. She adds nothing to the conversation and only seeks to ridicule and incite others. If the GOP nominated Charles Barkley for President against Hilary, purnhrt would vote for him because he has "street cred" whatever that means. Additionally, she cannot let differentiate between the internet and real life. She was edited by Lisa Renee Ward on Glass City Jungle. She still attacks LRW to this day even though LRW was very civil to her.

FG is almost the white version of purnhrt. FG's issue isn't race though it's religion. She cannot debate anything religious without putting down the others or deeming them a blasphemer. She too adds nothing to the conversation. Every post she makes embarasses me since she's a "Republican". She's one who believes that if someone doesn't agree with her 100% of the time they deserve being shunned.

I'm a big boy. Words don't hurt me and I think crying "bullying" is what weak people do. What I can't take is accepting stupidity. Those two are like a beacon of stupidity. Everyone is dumber for reading those two's posts.

MikeyA

the substance of Purnhrt's posts. FG seems to be paranoid. I don't think bringing up the facts concerning the Bush Presidency and grammar checking posts constitutes being smart? Facts are facts, if he's right, he's right. I don't have a problem with that. One thing Ac has made clear is those who oppose him are stupid, illiterate, racists, right wing extremists, and misspell a word, or misplace a comma, than you are really stupid.

Mind you, he is guilty of the same things he accuses others of. I don’t respect him because he is a hypocrite, and he doesn’t show respect in his responses, so engaging him intellectually will get you nowhere, except a demeaning of what you post. That's one reason I don't bother. My responses and posts are exactly how you treat someone like him, in my view.

You stated" But he does at least understand that debating isn't so much (winning and losing) as it is exchanging information" What about the whining, cussing, demeaning, and threatening part, during and after, the debates? Exchanging information, how? By telling you the screw-ups of the Bush years, while ignoring what has happened during Obama's.

Dale Pertcheck...

I can only try.

I think a-c provides comic relief for the Forum.

I have to admit that some of his posts bring a smile to my face. In my mind's eye, I see a guy in a bathrobe in front of his computer, a maniacal expression on his face, screaming and hurling spit as he bangs out a reply to Mikey on his keyboard. I wonder if Chris' software is able to tabulate the number of times AC's typed variations of "fuck" since he came aboard SB.

Strange that you should be obsessed with anal cavities, DTOM. Everyone knows those people who are most obsessed with the orientation of others down to making the types of comments you make are most likely to be raging self-hating closet cases. I'm so sorry you are too weak, self-conscious, afraid, and ashamed of yourself to admit you inner feelings. Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course, it's just that I don't have much sympathy for your hypocrisy. Maybe if you were brave enough to admit it, you could help change perception and be accepted.

Are you GAY? just wondering, in your post here, you talk about a guy that masturbates furiously while reading. You talk about how to make another man shoot their load. I find your unhealthy obsession with determining my sexual orientation and your continued references to my lower digestive tract extremely disturbing and frightening, and respectfully ask you to stop it. Now. You're entitled to be a hypocritical, self-loathing closet case, DTOM, but just like straight men become "assholes" and "douchebags" when they continue to make unwanted passes at women after being told to stop, you're well into "flaming faggot" territory with your behavior. I'm sorry that I obviously diagnosed your behavior correctly and embarrassed you but you really need to deal with it instead of projecting onto others.

I'll ask you again Ac are you GAY?

Given "buggery" is usually a British-slang term for male homosexual acts, and "bugger" is a British slang term for someone whom engages in said acts, that's some big damn Freudian slip you made there, since you probably meant "boogers".
