One of the biggest disappointments of President Barack Obama presidency is his failure to close Guantanamo Bay as promised during his presidential campaign. So say the people looking for an excuse to diss the president. Soooooo where do they think the "prisoners" are going when released? Isn't Guantanamo Bay a military prison? So does that mean that most of the prisoners would be our prisoners of war? Would that mean that most then would be from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and other places of war? I know one thing, if one of my children or relatives is on foreign land and has a breakdown and leaves his camp either voluntarily or non voluntarily, yes I expect my country to go and get them. I don't care who they have to trade. Eventually the Gitmo detainee's are going home! BETTER OUR POW'S COME HOME ALIVE!

They should be put in American prisons, and here's why. We need more, much more prison floor space in our country. This would be a good excuse for starting more prison construction, as in RFN!

All hail the police state, may you be arrested and sentenced quickly, asshole.

On the contrary, the president's critics don't diss him for not closing Gitmo, but do remind his supporters that he pledged to do during his 2008 campaign and apparently thought it was going to be easy to accomplish. Emptying the prison has been off everyone's to-do list since around 2010.

Patience is a great virtue.

Including Congress, who got in his way of making it happen.

Remember he has a pen.

The Justice Dept falls under him. The DoD falls under him. The leaders serve at the pleasure of the President.

All Congress could do is cut funding. That hasn't stopped him on anything else. Yet, that's the one thing Congress was able to stop. You are being willfully ignorant.

While Congress opposed closing Gitmo, it did so in response to Obama's proposal to ship the detainees to stateside penitentiaries. For some reason, congressmen weren't thrilled with the idea of accused terrorists possibly landing in their state. Funny how the national media that used to call it America's greatest shame have seemingly forgotten about the prison.

Patience is a great virtue.

What, Congressmen being NIMBYs about terrorists being put in prisons in their districts? YOU DON'T SAY!

And for once you didn't distinguish between Republicans and Democrats. Very unlike you not to cast all blame for whatever situation on the GOP. Reality got your tongue?

Patience is a great virtue.

He also promised hope and change, and we could keep our insurance, PERIOD!, and some of us would get free gas cards, and yada-yada-yada-yada-and so on. What actually happened, though, was that he made unmitigated FOOLS out of the people who apparently believed him.

Suddenly purnhrt has a strong opinion on the prisoners of Gitmo. LOL

She is a typical Obama supporter that's for sure. That means the ends determine the means.

So now she's really in favor of bringing POWs home. Funny she wasn't so outspoken before now.

I guess shes been quietly protesting this whole time.

I think you make a good point, purnhrt. And, judging from the responses I've seen so far, there doesn't seem to be much sense from those that would challenge your opinion.

It's going to be fun this week.

I predict his foreign policy approvals will drop dragging his overall approval down. It's funny because they expected a euphoric response and a distraction from the VA scandal. What they're getting is the public reminded of what executive incompetence looks like.

Feinstein isn't too happy. http://thehill.com/policy/defense/208070-white-house-apologizes-to-senat...

The more information we find out the more bipartisan the negativity gets.

Mikey, the low information voters have very little, if anything to be happy about now. None of 'em got ANY of the free shit they were promised. Many are sitting on their asses waiting for the "Man" to dry up and blow away and lose control of the United States. That won't happen any time soon, BTW. The president couldn't close GITMO even during the time the democrats' party had BOTH houses! Lastly, this president seems to appoint lots of White people to important jobs, which sort of surprised me.

What do you the chances are of Biden becoming the 45th President of the United States?

Do you mean by 2016, or by the end of the year?

Well I think the chances of both just went up considerably.

veterans have taken the vow that they made when serving their country seriously and,
are true patriots. To see Berghdahl's comrades speaking out against him is giving information to the other side. Even during the Viet Nam war/conflict (which Americans were totally against) there are veterans who will never speak of their missions while serving and it has been 50 years for some. These young men today speaking out about their mission in Afghanistan to bring Berghdal back are simply traitors....

And since you're on the side of veterans suddenly do you support dismantling the VA which is forging documents to disguise the wait times veterans have the face for treatment?

Deserter = Hero

Soldiers who risked their lives to find him (and at least six died in the process) = Traitors

Go back to Facebook purnhrt, you're drunk.

I must have missed prunefart at the wounded warrior softball game this weekend supporting our troops, my bad.

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no Senator's son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the tax men come to the door
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah, some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer, more, more, more, oh

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no

What I think is being said by her-is comparable to the ravings of a semi literate drunkard.

I missed you at the Truth Gallery this weekend In support of a young black man graduating from Cornel. G-man, semi literate? Never heard that one before. Bawawa!

Are you going to answer my question on the VA?

One thing about this has been fun. Watching the talking heads on MSNBC go from celebratory to losing their minds in less than 72 hours.

Rachel Maddow looked like she was going to cry last night.

She's upset, as are the rest of them. This social experiment, is unraveling right before their eyes, at warp speed. The next few years should be hilarious, unless the Country totally implodes first.

Aw damn, and here we were just starting to get level with the edge of the hole GEORGE DUBYA BUSH dug for the USA, despite the obstructionism of the GOP.

G-man this country will never implode despite efforts both foreign and domestic. The Republic will survive.

I sure hope you're right..

We survived Bush. If he couldn't fuck it up beyond repair, then there is no way Obama or the current do-nothing, shut-everything-down GOP can either.

YOUR Obama and his administration is going down to be the WORST EVER. Blaming Bush doesn't compare. Besides, people are tired of hearing you Dems blame Bush. In other words, you keep saying, let’s keep doing what Bush did no matter how bad it is. That's some stupid rationale.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

Whereas you worship Saint Ronnie yet any time Obama does something Reagan did, it's SOCIALIST COMMUNISM or something.

It's also the only rationale they have. It is where the saying "stuck on stupid" comes from.
