The Politicians Are Playing Games

Both political parties in this country are playing games with the American public. They feud and fuss with each other for public consumption, to try to make us believe they have real differences. They are both the same, controlled by corporate contributions. The Democrats and the Republicans are supported by the same interests whose only interest is in dividing the American people so they can keep their own power. If the public would unite for the common purpose we could topple the powers that are controlling the political process.
During all this current budget impasse in Washington D.C. the members of Congress and the President probably have all this scripted and know what the final outcome will be. A compromise to protect their own job. They are probably sitting there in D.C. having martinis together and laughing and saying: "We've got them all fooled." My own opinion is to clean house in Washington and vote out every current member of Congress in 2014 and see that the new members pass real campaign finance reform that will do away with the rich and powerful controlling this country. If they don't pass campaign finance reform by 2016, then clean the slate and throw them all out. Our fellow American is not the enemy, politics as usual is.

No votes yet

I really like the idea of voting out every member of the House, as well as the Senators who are up for re-election in 2014.

Them all. Starting with Obama right down the line. Both Houses of Congress need to be swept clean. This country needs a shakeup and power be given back to the voters and not big donors.

Sarge, are you sure that Republicans are to blame too? I thought it was just the Democrats.
Didn't all this crap started when Obama took office?

This coming Sunday.

The Vets are not blaming both sides - they are blaming Obama:

From the above-linked article:

The announcement said the group Special Operations Speaks is organizing the rally because the Obama administration “is using the government shutdown as an excuse to keep our veterans from acknowledging the debt owed to them and their predecessors.”

“This is unforgivable. It is also unjustified, as no taxpayer funds are spent by keeping these shrines open. We will open them ourselves, if that’s what it takes,” said the group, founded by former Navy SEAL Larry Bailey.

“We know that there may be some degree of confrontation, given the anti-military attitude of the administration. It is our intention to avoid confrontation, and we request that you join us in avoiding any kind of physical contact with park rangers, police, or other law-enforcement personnel. Give them no excuse to hijack the moment.” the organization said.

On its website, there was no waffling about the blame, however.

“In a mean-spirited fit of selfish anger, Barack Obama has shut down our nation’s war memorials. And he has declared open war on our honored veterans!” the website says. “The World War II memorial … the Vietnam Veterans Memorial … the Korean War Veterans Memorial – Obama has shut them all down to force his will on the House of Representatives and frankly, to get revenge on the American people who oppose Obamacare and his other naked power grabs.”

The message to veterans continued: “Let’s put it plainly: Barack Obama is behaving like a vicious tyrant. And if he succeeds in this assault on the democratic system, the republic we love is at mortal risk. It’s just that simple.”

Farmergal, I have concluded that you blame Obama for the Great Flood of Noah fame.

If the public would unite for the common purpose we could topple the powers that are controlling the political process.

Sarge, apparently you didn't notice that the American people have united for a common purpose. It just so happens this common purpose crosses itself when enacted. Each person is trying to maximize his own taking from the commonwealth. On average, each person is just borrowing and spending as much as he can. Each organization does this, and each level of government. This is the real common purpose in the United States.

Commonality isn't the solution. It's the problem, given what we've chosen to do in common. But this problem fixes itself, once it causes enough socio-economic damage. It creates widespread poverty. Once the middle class pretty much destroys itself, it won't be around to complain about said destruction.
