TEAMS NEED TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT

Tagged:

So Obama recently said that he thinks the Washington Redskins should change their name. Yep. Next thing you know he’ll want the New England Patriots to change their name because “Patriots” represent a time in American history that he despises.

I say—why stop at just changing the teams that have Indian-related nicknames? We need a full sweep of team names that might have a remote chance of hurting someone’s sensitivities. Here is a good place to start:

Washington Redskins = Washington Obamas

Cleveland Indians = Cleveland Native Americans

Chicago Blackhawks = Chicago Doves of Undetermined Color

Miami Hurricanes = Miami Global Warmings

San Diego Padres = San Diego Agnostics

Milwaukee Brewers = Milwaukee Teetotalers

Green Bay Packers (name refers to meat-packing industry) = Green Bay Vegans

Notre Dame Fighting Irish = Notre Dame United Nations

Michigan Wolverines = Michigan Endangered Species

Cincinnati Reds = (no need to change, Obama LOVES that nickname)

Denver Nuggets = Denver Unsaturated Fats

San Antonio Spurs = San Antonio Humane Societies

USC Trojans = USC Planned Parenthoods

New Orleans Saints =New Orleans Jihadists

Detroit Pistons = Detroit Volts

"This has become a kind of conventional wisdom: that the Republican Party has gone so far right Reagan himself wouldn't fit in.

But, I'm here tonight to call bullsh*t on that. Ronald Reagan was an anti-government, union-busting, race-baiting, anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-intellectual who cut rich people/s taxes in half, had an incurable case for the military-industrial complex, and said Medicare was socialism that would destroy our freedom. Sounds to me like he would fit in just fine.

Now...I know over at Fox News right now, they're already putting out a fatwa on me. For committing the cardinal sin of taking in vain the sacred name of Ronald Reagan. It's a name like Jesus Christ. You can say it, but only in a good way. Like, "Jesus Christ, bless this chili dog."

Not like, "Jesus Christ, look at the ass on Rihanna!"

But, what they cannot contest is that even though Reagan did a few things today's GOP would not like, he wrote the playbook for them on every issue of consequence. Sure, he raised taxes a few times. But, when you look at where he started with taxes and where he ended, this is where our income inequality problems began. He invented "voodoo economics."

On race, his ideas couldn't have been more Tea Party if he shouted them from a Rascal scooter. He ran on states' rights. He invented the notion that black people get all the breaks...constantly telling the story of the "Chicago Woman"--wink, wink--who has "80 names, 30 addresses, 12 Social Security cards, and her tax-free cash income is over $150,000."

And that woman today is RuPaul.

Actually, that woman never existed. Reagan just made sh*t up. Something else he pioneered for his party of today.

He described the New Deal as fascism, Medicaid recipients as "waiting for handouts," unemployment insurance as "prepaid vacation for free-loaders.  And once said, "A tree's a tree. How many more do you need to look at?"

He was the original, official pitchman for bat-sh*t. When they hold up signs that say "No Socialized Medicine," where do you think they got it from? We got it from you, Dad, we got it from you. [slide of Reagan record album]

RECORDING OF RONALD REAGAN: "If you don't do this and I don't do it, one of these days, you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it once was like in America when men were free."

Drama queen much? Worst of all, Reagan inspired a whole generation of people who hate government, to get into government. Both sides really should stop pretending he was something other than the man most responsible for our decline. And I do mean both sides.

You know, I get why Republicans worship Reagan. They're the religious party. Worship is in their DNA. They can't help it. They love him beyond logic. Last year, they tried to elect his haircut. [slides of Reagan and Mitt Romney]

They want him on a stamp so they can lick his backside.

But, why are Democrats conceding the argument on Reagan? Obama talks about him like he's a "brother from another mother." "He changed the trajectory of America." Yes, but not for the better.

When you mainstream Reagan, the far right becomes the new middle. He wasn't a friend to all Americans. He was "Patient Zero" for everything you're fighting against now. He was the original "teabagger."

Stop agreeing he was a saint, especially when his two miracles were turning water into polluted water, and walking on the poor."

This certainly is a pertinent comment to a post on politically correct team names!

where did you get this from? I know you didn't think of this on your own. Did you plagiarize this piece?

Galt actually probably did think this up on his/her own. He/she put on their "I'm a liberal and everything offends me" hat and it just flowed!

I believe in order to be insulted you have to respect the person who renders the insult.

With that in mind, I don't feel slighted by Purnhrt's insinuation that I copied my politically correct team names. Although people of Purnhrt's ilk make their way through school by plagiarizing, I thought up the names all by myself!

also the president who opened the doors and let the mentally ill out of hospitals and free to make their own decisions for their mental health care.

When I think about the nicknames of sports teams, the idea of letting the mentally ill out of hospitals ALWAYS comes to my mind too!

Anyway, you aren't serious--are you? Did you hear Rachel Maddow says this about Reagan and the mentally ill?

First, explain to me how a President can make a decision about letting the mentally ill out of hospitals--and it becomes law? Perhaps this link that might help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dVo3nbLYC0

Second, something called the "Supreme Court" decided in 1975 that a state can't confine a non-dangerous individual who could safely live on their own.

Liberal groups and organizations like the National Institute of Mental Health played a major role in shifting patients from state hospitals to "community centers."

The ignorance and gullibility of liberals is impressive. They live in a defy-reality, urban-myth world.

Yes people like Cary Grant's mother.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cary_grant

When Cary Grant was 9 his father had his mother institutionalized. His father told her she was dead. Cary Grant believed this until in his 30's he found her alive and well in an institution.

His father later abandoned him too.

Why would we not want to close places like that? This is just one example of many where the mental health institutional bureaucracy failed. The first of many reasons why the government should not control our health care.

And I live in an area with many people who are Indians as recognized by their Indian Nations (each gets to determine what qualifies someone as eligible). They all think changing the names is stupid. Many prefer the term Indian and there are some who cheer for the Chiefs and the Redskins.

Galt, I prefer the Notre Dame Disgruntled Immigrants of Irish Descent.

Galt, If Ronny Reagan was alive and some how you met him, he would hate you.

Actually, I did meet Reagan! I was a journalism student in college (look that word up) in 1976, and several students were given press passes to follow Reagan when he came to Detroit during the primary. We met Reagan--and he didn't appear to hate me--but then, you know best.

After that assignment, I came home and announced to my Dad--who was a Teamster--that I was a Republican. I've often thought that if my Dad were alive today, there's no way he could have voted for the list of socialists that the Democrats have put up as presidential candidates in the last 12 years.

Ronny bonzo reagan would of hated you. He hated faggots!

Did you mean, "Ronny bonzo Reagan would HAVE hated you"? You're welcome!
