Why is Paula Deen apologizing?

Because I thought being a Democrat, or at least a supporter of our current president, meant never having to say "I'm sorry" or being called a racist.

"Television chef Paula Deen, who lost her gig Friday with the Food Network after admitting and apologizing for having used racial epithets, including the “N-word,” is a supporter of President Barack Obama, campaigning on his behalf in 2008 and cultivating a friendship with first lady Michelle Obama." (emphasis mine)

'N-word' user Paula Deen is an Obama supporter

Perhaps she should have conferred with Joe Biden prior to making her apology?

Then she could have gone with the "taken out of context" excuse. It seemed to work for Biden back in 2007 when he said;

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Or perhaps instead of delving into the past, we look into the future? I'm guessing there will be more than a few people who, are currently expressing their best manufactured outrage, will go to the theatre this winter and laugh their asses off at the following scene.

OK

How is what you just said different, in any way, from someone using any other kind of slur? A slur is a slur.

When shall the fat suburban housewives who are Republicans be expecting your public apology? Will you be submitting to a "shame" interview with Matt Lauer?

Liberals are just unendingly hilarious.

Mmm, your indignant tears are delicious! Keep crying chubs, maybe you'll drop some of that "water weight".

It's simple. She lost future bucks. It's going to be difficult for her to rebound. I'm sure the KKK will have a banquet in her honor at her resturant. Honestly, I believe everybody is a racist who is over 7 years old. It's the American way.

Good one.

What I'm wondering is - if she is not on tape anywhere using that word, why in the world did she admit it in a deposition? I don't believe there's a southerner alive who hasn't said that particular word in their lifetime. So freaking what? It's a WORD. There are FAR WORSE WORDS that people use. It's not like she stood in front of a stroller and shot an infant dead, in the face. An event that the national media quickly buried.

Well, here's my theory on why something so pathetically stupid is "national news"... There is a fairly small segment of the African American population that wants to CONTINUOUSLY air their grievances against the white population. A lot of them are tv reporters. They haven't gotten over the 1960's (if old enough to have been there). Instead of moving forward in life with purpose, they want to march in the street and sing "we shall overcome" for the rest of their lives - instead of actually overcoming or accomplishing anything.

Deen is apologizing, because she wants to limit damage to her commercial empire. I don't buy her stuff (a little overpriced), and don't "do recipes". BTW, she is doing exactly what politicians do when caught doing or saying something offensive. Some get a pass (like Jesse Jackson dissing Jews), some don't. They want to save their jobs. This is much ado about nothing. I never got the big deal about PD to begin with. She's roughly my age group & falls into that category of doyennes who like to remind people that they were cheerleaders in high school or dated the quarterback in high school.

Rather than creating this unnecessary hoopla, she should have done what Obama does - lie & deny. And of COURSE she is a BO supporter. She's incredibly immature. Ooh, ooh, I know - they could do a beer summit with her at the White House. There - all better.

Farmergal, you are wrong about Blacks not wanting to acheive and all they do is complain about White America. I have witnessed and witness to this day the insults and demeaning white Americans direct toward minorities of all origins. What tickles me most is when I see an uneducated Applalacian White person trying boss around a very well educated and successful Black person because they think they are entitled to do so. About a year ago I went on a trip to Myrtle Beach with three firends. One of my friends was Black. We stopped at a store just off I77 to get some gas and wanted to use the restrooms. The store clerk told the White guys in our group to use the restroom inside the building. He told the Black guy he had to go outside to the rear of the store to use the outhouse. Fortunately, there was a Holiday Inn next door where suitable restroom facilities were available. We all went to the Holiday Inn and decided not to buy anything at the store. This kind of attitude that the clerk demonstarted is engrained in America, so, I don't have any sympathy. She got caught. Now she has to pay.

OMG Who the fuck cares?

The woman cooks chicken for a living. She has zero influence on anyone. If she does they will die early because they eat her unhealthy diet.

I am just so tired of this story. No one gives a shit what Paula Dean thinks. I barely knew who she was before this story.

In the meantime I have to wait to hear about the President overseas, or Snowden being charged, or the stock market tumbling. But no that must wait because headline " Old Southern Lady has racist feelings" WOW what a shocker! No one cares!

Lets move on already to shit and people who matter. And that will be nothing about a Food network show.

This is typical of the positions you take. Anytime a Euro is caught in racist behavior you want to sweep it under the rug as though it's not important or doesn't exist.

I said nothing in the first two threads. A third thread, for a nobody? That's too much. It is not sweeping it under the rug.

We need to be focusing on real issues. If you want to talk a real race issue there is the Zimmerman case.

I refuse to believe the racist thoughts of a woman who cooks food on tv rates this much discussion nor do I think it's any type of leap forward or back for civil rights.

MikeyA

She is an icon of sorts. That's why there is so much discussion about her.

She is not an icon.

No one is out there talking about her outside of this story. Kids do not dress up as her on Halloween. No one quotes her like a sage. She just makes food. If she's racist. Fine, don't watch her show. Don't buy her books. But don't accuse me for sweeping anything under the rug. We had the story, it's had it's five minutes.

Disagree? I challenge you to find on here where she was discussed on here before this story.

MikeyA

The story about Paula Deen is all over TV, radio, the internet, and newspapers. What cave are you living in? Paula Deen has also tried to issue an apology on all the media sources trying to get her show and cash cow back. She was watched by millions of viewers each week. Now she will be watched by no one except on Youtube. She also promoted a unhealthy lifestyle to millions of people while suffering from diseases associated with the the deadly lifestyle. This is one venonmos woman. Of course her behavior should be exonerated because she is a Euro. This woman's evil and greed can't be ignored or sweeped under the rug, but some people want to take the position that her fouls have no importance or don't exist. This is typical Euro mentality. At one time Adolph Hitler was a nobody and look what happened. Maybe she should be charged with crimes against humanity before the sicko's rally in her defense and join her ideology like thousands of Germans joined Hitler's madness?

" Kids do not dress up as her on Halloween."
LOL, Good one Mikey.

I've said this before, NOW MORE THAN EVER I DEMAND that the racist restaurant chain, Cracker Barrel, STOP using the "C" word!

It's RACIST and I am offended!

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

I agree.

What kind of repercussions did Jesse Jackson suffer when he referred to Jewish folks as "hymies", or NYC as "Hymietown"?
I assume he's still living large, although he doesn't seem to "DO" anything, other than racebait.

"We're all riding on the Hindenburg, no sense fighting over the window seats"-Richard Jenni

Jesse Jackson is not popular, nor is he viewed as a leader. He's a welfare pimp.

You got that that one right, he is a charlatan, and there are many black Americans that do not see him as a leader....but see him as divisive.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

Jamie Fox played in the movie Django Unchained, where the "N word" was used 113 times.
He was quoted as saying, "I get to kill all the white people in the movie, how cool is that"?
That's ok though, right?

If you thinjk it's okay to say that word, go down to Ewing and Dorr Streets and scream the word at the top of your voice. Maybe Fred will conduct your memorial service.

HaHa good one charles. Fredo "save money" Lafever
