Barb Sears draws ire of conservative groups, invites primary?

Local Rep. Barb Sears has drawn the ire of local and national conservative groups, including FreedomWorks, a major force in the national Tea Party movement, for her stance on implementing Obamacare in Ohio. RedState, a news outlet led by conservative icon Erick Erickson, published this hard-hitting piece on Sears:

http://www.redstate.com/2013/03/25/republican-rep-barbara-sears-blocks-e...

"One needn’t look too deep to understand why Sears wouldn’t want the HCFA to pass in Ohio. Not only has she received a substantial amount of financial contributions from the health care industry, she currently works at a health insurance provider and recently passed her own bill which helps implement Obamacare."

"If she is truly representing the people of Ohio and not the health insurance industry and herself, to back a law protecting her constituents makes logical sense."

I have heard that several conservative groups are discussing providing significant financial backing to a primary challenge to Rep. Sears in 2014. One potential challenger is former Waterville Mayor, Derek Merrin, a movement conservative with an impressive track record. Merrin was recently named to the Top 30 conservatives under 30 in the country (link), and has the credibility to take on Sears.

Another opportunity may be Dock David Treece, a frequent contributor to the Toledo Free Press (link). Treece is a solid and credible fiscal conservative, but is viewed as a social liberal which may limit his appeal in House District 47 and to the conservative groups. Treece does come from a strong family background, and likely has the ability to financially mount a solid campaign even without the backing of conservative groups.

Perhaps Sears isn't planning on running in 2014?

Time will tell...

Barb Sears tomorrow morning on with me at 7:30 to answer these questions.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

I happened to have been at a meeting this evening with some fellow Conservatives and we discussed this Sears issue. We came to the decision that if she continues down the path of opposing the HCFA, we will not only work to assure she doesn't get the nomination next time, but if she is successful, we won't cast any vote for State Rep from Sylvania. Better a Democrat than a turncoat Republican.

Please let her know that there is no "explanation" she can give that would justify a vote against the HCFA.

yes i'll tell her an anonymous poster on the internet says that he is so closed minded he doesn't want to have a conversation about her vote.

One man's "close minded" is another man's "conviction."

Fred,

Is there a podcast of this up.

I just woke up and realized I missed this. I wanted to hear what she had to say.

This says it all>"One needn’t look too deep to understand why Sears wouldn’t want the HCFA to pass in Ohio. Not only has she received a substantial amount of financial contributions from the health care industry, she currently works at a health insurance provider and recently passed her own bill which helps implement Obamacare".

I don't live in Barb's district so I can't vote for her. I suggest you listen to what she says about some of the parts of HB91 and how they conflict with that the voters passed as the Health Care Freedom act last year. It's obvious to anyone reading the language and listenning to her explanation that there are genuince conflicts of language and intent.
To claim that she is interested in implementing Obamacare is just ignorant. Even belfore the grassroots amendment passed she had introduced with others a bill to stop Obamacare.
I suggest each of you read her response on Maggie's blogsite and listen to the interview, then at least you are coming to the table with facts. Quoting the article doesn't really mean anything because they never contacted Sears for comment.

Well Fred, maybe you should check out the facts a little more yourself, HB3, i.e. navigators, and come back to the table with those facts....

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

Was there something specific you wanted me to watch for, because I've read the bill, and read about navigators.

Then you have no issue with the fact that Sears proposed a bill that seeks to regulate government created jobs that will cost the states a lot more money. i.e navigators. Also she works at an insurance agency that will benefit from her bill, seems a conflict of interest to me. The other fact that hurts her is she spoke out aganist HCFA..

Navigators are made by Ford.

If Sears is going to support obamacare in Ohio, time for someone else. She ran as a conservative. So either switch parties or step aside. Would love to see Merrin in her seat. He's a solid conservative and has a great record of public service.

Get Merrin. Get someone else.

I'm not surprised here. Barb Sears was in favor of the merger between Sylvania and Sylvania Township. The only reason she got on the Wingnut ticket was because the Moonbats wouldn't have her.

Get rid of Sears.

Mad Jack
Mad Jack's Shack

Kmart bought sears out.

Just listened to the podcast and you gotta love how Sears' indicates that we should consider her learned opinion because she works in the health care industry. Yep, no bias there.

It's like Al Gore suggesting that we should all be forced to buy carbon credits because--after all--he's an expert because he owns a company that sells carbon credits. Yeah, sure.

When finally there are some politicians who are willing to stick their necks out with a bill that tells health care insurers to put up or shut up--Sears doesn't want to support it.

I'm in Sears' district and she NEVER responds to any of my or my neighbors' messages (phone or email). In fact, I've tried to use the Contact option she has on her webpage and it hasn't worked for a long time. For the sake of her constituents, I think she needs to make a decision and step down from one of her jobs.

I think Sears doesn't respond to her constituents' calls or emails because they don't have their own blogs--because she wrote a tome to Maggie Thurber!

usually get voted out of office in the end.

I listen to the talking heads on tv, and to leftist/communist politicians... who often use the phrase "hard right". That's a joke. Because in this country now and for the long foreseeable future - the country is basically divided between HARD LEFT and HARD RIGHT. Nobody politically active can afford to try to please everybody or have it both ways. Those of us who vote, want to know up front - are you "left" or "right"? We will vote accordingly.

That's why Rand Paul, rather than Marco Rubio, is the real threat to the Dems in 2016. He doesn't equivocate, and everybody knows what he stands for. Same for Dr. Ben Carson, should he decide to run in 2016. Nobody is in doubt about Dr. Carson's principles and morality either.

Both will make it as far as Ron Paul did...

That's an asinine prediction, if ever I've heard one.

Consider the source.....

Please go back and read both our predictions for the presidential elections. Talk about asinine predictions. I've got this one nailed too...

Fucknut and Girly man both voted for shit romney which shows what moronic sheep they are
yet they are attempting to talk shit on someone else. LOL

Quote:
Americans for Prosperity, known largely for its affiliation with the billionaire Koch brothers and for organizing Tea Party rallies, is part of this state-focused spending spree. The group has opened new local chapters or more than tripled the funding for existing chapters in key states. This increased spending has helped Americans for Prosperity recruit conservative activists and deploy them during contentious policy debates. Audit reports collected by the New York State Attorney General’s office show that Americans for Prosperity went from spending about $4.9 million on state chapter activities in 2009 to $10.6 million in 2011, the last available disclosure. Those figures do not necessarily account for the television, radio and Internet advertising purchased by the group when lobbying on state policy issues (which has reportedly reached over $4 million in places like Wisconsin), or the ubiquitous bus tours it has sponsored around the country.

Statements made are the opinion of the writer who is exercising his first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and are generally permitted.

When little willie says "Fucknut and Girly man both voted for shit romney..."

In English that means:
"I'm getting blisters waiting for someone to verbally spank me. Please abuse me because my sexually deviant fantasy is for someone to talk down to me like the dirty little boy I am."

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

No, your reply shows that I own your little bitch ass. Also, Get rid of that picture of you and your mother when you were in high school. Have some respect for the nag.
