Progressive Giant On Way Out

Without any help from Bain Capital MSNBC has decided to cancel the daily disaster known as the Ed Schultz Show. Ed has been publicly demoted to the weekend shift which in TV lingo is death row, next stop-no show at all.
This would be like me being moved to Sunday afternoon between church services and Gun Talk
. Here's the story - Wednesday night, Ed Schultz of MSNBC announced that his The Ed Show would be moving from weeknights to weekends. It will now fill two hours every Saturday and Sunday, 5-7 PM. The show has always struggled to find its audience, bouncing around the dial since its debut in April 2009. Schultz painted the move as voluntary:
I raised my hand for this assignment for a number of personal and professional reasons. My fight on The Ed Show has been for the workers and the middle class. This new time slot will give me the opportunity to produce and focus on stories that I care about and are important to American families and American workers.
MSNBC President Phil Griffin is playing along, congratulating Schultz on the move. “It’s an exciting time for MSNBC, and I’m looking forward to having Ed’s powerful voice on our network for a long time,” said Griffin.
I just looked at the schedule for MSNBC, and Ed will be stuck among the documentaries. Lean Forward Ed, a little more forward as MSNBC bends you over.

Will he be teaming up with Brian Wilson? You know kind of like Hannity & Colmes. What a dream team.

Fox News Ratings: O'Reilly, Hannity See Huge Drop-Off In February Demo Numbers

I don't think he'll be teaming up with Brian. Is that something you heard from your many media contacts or is that something you just made up out of pure ignorance? I see you posted the old story about ratings dropping for FOX stations, but havent found your way clear yet to discuss the ratings of Maddow, Schultz, O'Donnell or the others that are actually rated lower than O'Reilly and Hannity even after their "huge drop offs". Well here are the numbers from Tuesday night

Where's Wilson's ratings? Did he find anyone who will take him? Is he still substituting around the country?

For those like Wolfman who have an obsession with radio hosts who no longer work in the market, you can check out brianwilson.net To answer your questions more specifically he's not here so he has no ratings, and as far as the other two questions I haven't spoken to him since he left so I have knowledge of job prospects.
You really should just contact him through e mail or his website. More to the point though, I'm curious as to why when your favorite progressive talking heads are shown to be failing miserably do you bring up someone who doesn't even work here any longer.
When you failed in school did you tell your parents that other kids were doing worse than you so it was okay since you were going to work in a factory anyway and didn't need a good education?

You may or may not know Ed Schultz is carried on MSNBC. MSNBC is offered as a premium channel on many carriers including Direct TV and Dish Network. FoxNews is carried on every basic package I know of. So Ed Schultz's demographic cannot afford the premium package in this economy. Another example of media control of free speech.

Fact Check- I'm looking at the Direct TV website, MSNBC is included in all their packages http://www.usdirect.com/channels/msnbchd According to the DISH Network website "Sign up for DISH Network Satellite TV today and receive a free DISH HD/DVR, free installation, and free premium movie channels for your first three months of service! MSNBC is available in the following packages, starting at just $29.99 per month." Dish Network package is the 200 Channel package , the Direct TV package is the least you can order so once again your ignorance is on display. Unless of course you have some facts that prove those websites wrong........

This must be a new change because last year Direct TV did not offer this in its basic package. Dish Network package is the 200 Channel package is a premium package. Direct TV is owned by Rupert Murdoch, not an option for me.

A "new change" as opposed to an "old change"? LOL!

Why bother to be right? I mean it's so inconvenient.

Latest news is that the man version of Rachel Maddow will get the slot (no pun intended). His name is Chris Hayes and he fills in for Maddow on ocassion. He's basically Maddow with breasts. Big, bombastic Ed says he wants to spend more time with his family. How's that going work if you have a radio job 5 days a week and a TV job both days of the weekend.

Serial kook Glenn Beck was given the boot on FoxNews when his kookiness became an embarrassment to, of all places, FoxNews. Seems WSPD still carries this crackpot. When I'm out and about I hear people of normal intelligence talk about the screwball crap that oozes out of Beck's mouth. I just shake my head at these ignorant misguided souls.

I think Schultz's passion was becoming burned out and he was just having a hard time filling a TV show and radio everyday. I don't normally listen to Ed because Corporate media has made it hard to access his programing. His TV show was on premium cable and his radio show can only be heard on the internet from Toledo.

Glenn Beck wasn't really given the boot. He started his own channel, it was already in the works when both sides agreed not to renew his contract. Personally, not being a Beck fan I think it was because the money he was going to ask from the network it wasn't prepared to pay and he was going to a situation where he didn't have to give up editorial control, arguably worth the money. He has since expanded it in a merger with the Blaze and that IS a channel that is only on the America's Top 250, it is not in the America's Top 200 or 120, although it is available for purchase a la carte.

Is Schultz starting his own channel?

I'm surprised they aren't trying another talk radio personality like Stephanie Miller or Diane Rehm.

Two liberal radio voices I do listen to from time to time.

Not on this list that's for sure which is why it's so amazing that you continue to focus on two shows that aren't even listed as being important in Talkers magazine. For all the vaunted Bain Capital influence you suggest it apparently isn't working in my case.

I think not having to work through the week will be good for Ed's drinking opportunities.

If Progressive shows have lower ratings than their FOX counterparts, it's because their audience reads more, get its news from a variety of sources, and has more important things to do than sit in front of the tube all day.

so then by your logic those who watch the msnbc shows are less well read, get their news from one source and have less important things to do.....that means anyone who watches msnbc falls into that category.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

Now read carefully... the Progressive show viewers aren't in front of their TVs all day getting their minds filled with goo like the FOX viewers, therefore they (the Progressive show viewers) aren't counted in the ratings. Get it now?

So then who is watching the progressive shows? Progressives. Who can be accused of the same one sided, blind allegiance to maddow and the female maddow that hannity watchers can be accused of, that's my point. I know it was a little over your head.

You WERE on Sunday afternoons not all that long ago on WSPD...What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.

I did a one hour show on WSPD while also producing the Bob Frantz show, and before being given the morning show. In other words I left weekends for the most important time slot of the day. Ed has been demoted from prime time to weekends, nice try to make a point though.

wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in June. Not knowing them personally, but I am sure that played into his decision to leave the 8:00 spot on MSNBC. He definitely went out with a BANG! The Scott Prouty story was the coup de gras! Scott Prouty, an American hero!

Yeh it was probably the cancer. She got diagnosed in June and he waited nine months to show her how much he cared. And what a coup it was, and a BANG. Ed for the night finished behind O'Reilly once again and the next night went beck down to his usual dismal ratings. And Scott Prouty will slink back to his low paying bartender job hoping people like Wolfman and purfrt will contribute to his supposed legal fund. Did you donate Wolfman, did you trypa?

fund is a fredtheentertainer made up story.....cite your source!....lol

two notes from Huffington- one about Prouty offering it to Romney campaign "The filmmaker said that before the Republican National Convention, he contacted the Romney campaign directly. "I sent it to the Romney people ad nauseum," he said. "They knew about it." When he saw Romney give his acceptance speech in Tampa, he wondered what the candidate knew about his videos"

the second about the legal defense fund-from the page set up by Scott himself "I'm the person that released the now famous Mitt Romney 47 percent video. I'm a regular guy who cares about social justice and the future of the United States. I shot the video and shared it because it was important for citizens to know the full truth about a man who had a chance of becoming president. If you appreciate what I did, please consider donating to help with my current and future legal expenses." here's the link fool - http://www.gofundme.com/1ix17c#description once again you show your compete ignorance

I think I figured out why Prouty came out of the closet. His funding page was set up four months ago which predates anyone knowing who he was. So he goes on EdShow and then at least one other high profile? show and all of a sudden his lackluster fund raising is at 55% of his goal. He's a huckster. He couldn't get money from Romney, he starts his legal defense fund four months ago which is just after the election and then comes out to promote himself when it isn't going well......lol
If you have any facts that show a different story let's see them. Cause all of this shit is right from his page and interviews he did with huffington.

So, now Sgt. Schultz is on weekends, with the prison reality shows? They should put the other msnbc turds there, too, and show Three Stooges reruns Mon. through Fri.
