Obama’s reelection effort...Another Low

"Cutter: I’m Just Going to Make S%&t Up about Jobs

Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager for Obama’s reelection effort, seems more a character out of fiction than a real person. A high-octane spokesman, she is willing to say anything to win the 30-second sound byte cycle. She will lie, contradict herself and make up stats on the fly to get through any single cable news appearance. Its something real people, with a credibility gene, wouldn’t do. Fortunately, she’s a Democrat, so the media will never really hold her statements to account.

Yesterday, Cutter appeared on MSNBC and was asked about Obama’s economic record. She claimed that Obama’s “recovery” had created 4.5 million private sector jobs. She went on to claim that Obama has created more jobs than Reagan.

I realize media fact-checkers will be reluctant to dig into Cutter’s statement, so I’ll save them the effort. Her statement is false. It isn’t true. Hell, its not even on the same continent as the truth".

It should be easy, right? "Save them the effort" as you say.

“Over the past, you know, 27 months, we’ve created 4.5 million private-sector jobs. That’s more jobs than in the Bush recovery, in the Reagan recovery,” she said.

The Background: The economy is the No. 1 issue in the campaign, and Republicans have hammered President Barack Obama on the sluggish recovery.

The Facts: Cutter was wrong. Bush and Reagan did better than Obama. She misspoke about the number of months it took Obama to see the recovery of 4.5 million private sector jobs. It was 29, not 27.

Measuring from the employment trough in February 2010, through July 2012, the economy did add the 4.5 million jobs Cutter cited. Over the same span from the employment low point under Bush, 4.7 million private-sector jobs were created.

Reagan’s record was 3.5 million better than Obama’s. There were 8 million private sector jobs added during the first 29 months after the December 1982 low point, compared with Obama’s 4.5 million. By another measure, net job growth since the official end of the recession 37 months ago, Obama does outperform Bush, 3.4 million to 1.1 million. Reagan’s recovery still leaves Obama in the dust: 9.1 million.

Hope this answers your question.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

When Reagan became president we were a creditor nation. Led by the Republican party policy we are now a debtor nation. Turning America into a service economy through one sided trade agreements has created a minimum wage economy. Todays Republican led congress stands at a low 10% favorabitiy rating. http://www.gallup.com/poll/152528/congress-job-approval-new-low.aspx

The Executive Branch of government ?
Or, the Legislative Branch ?!

Who makes up the Congress ?
Is it BOTH the House and Senate of Congress, or only the House of Representatives ?!

And, who has had MORE total power over we citizens for the past 60 years ? the Dims or the R's ?

Since you are way too vapid to know, I'll allow you to continue your unadulterated dissolution to carry on.

Your argumentative and debate skills are as stupid as you post !

Wasn't really asking a question, Fred...
just wanted to see the original poster put up a fact or two. Thanks for the reply.

You're response had some interesting points. If I understand you correctly, 4.5 million jobs were created as Cutter said. It's just that she was off by two months in respect to the time period when she compared Obama to Bush. In other words Bush had Obama beat by .2 at the end of the same time period. And, you also wrote: "By another measure, net job growth since the official end of the recession 37 months ago, Obama does outperform Bush, 3.4 million to 1.1 million".

I knew her comment about beating Reagan had to be bogus, but she was closer on the comparison to Bush. "Don't Tread On Me's" original post said nothing about her comparing Obama to Bush.

Well if you go by baseline numbers then it appears so..... BUT.... those participating in the workforce has SHRUNK. So, it should stand to reason that unemployment should go down just by those who stop participating in the workforce. We have not seen that correlation so one then must assume that when you factor in those who left the workforce the numbers are higher.

It was VERY easy.

I googled US economy recession. 1st Link: http://www.minneapolisfed.org/publications_papers/studies/recession_pers...

Feel free to check out the many graphs. Needless to say, the current "recovery" doesn't outpace much and definitely doesn't come close to Regan's.

MikeyA

Well duh, Mikeya.
I guess you would agree it should have been easy for "Don't Tread On Me" to have had a few facts to back up his post.

Actually I'd think an advisor to the President SHOULD have these facts before she goes on a national news show to spout off on "facts". AND I would think the media would do their job and report on her blatant lie and report it as such.

It should not be the job of bloggers/thread commenters to post the facts. The media is failing because of their love affair.

Then so can the other side. Or from a different angle - the onus is on Steffie to say where she gets this number. It's an obviously fake number. I doubt poor Democratic voters even pay any attention to such baloney. They just think they will get "free stuff" from the Dems. While BO has been wasting taxpayer dollars setting up Muslim Brotherhood governments halfway across the world, and wasting so-called stimulus taxpayer dollars on such things as widely hated "smart meter" rollouts, which are costing consumers unconscionable amounts of money from their meager household budgets. He doesn't care what damage he does, and doesn't have a clue how to do anything but cause the working class unlimited pain. To my observation the past 4 years, Team Obama doesn't really know what they are doing, so they make up stories and make up numbers.

Besides which, the general public knows there haven't been many real jobs created, and just about everyone knows somebody who has been very recently laid off. Everyone knows, the beleaguered middle class, working class and out-and-out poor barely have enough money to make ends meet. We all know that gasoline for our cars, under Obama, has eaten up most of our so-called "discretionary" cash. And yet, they expect Joe Six-Pack to rescue the economy ..... WITH WHAT MONEY?? - and in hundreds of thousands of cases FROM WHICH NON-EXISTENT JOBS???

4 more years of BO will bring another 4 years of $4.00 gasoline (let's face it today's $3.85 per gal. is pretty much the same devastation on our pocketbooks as exactly $4.) [And here we were all told that Bush was the one with the greedy oil company buddies.] The poor & middle class "folks" who the Dems always claim to be "for", are the ones being destroyed by Obama's radical, left wing, know-nothing "policies". I don't think he actually HAS any policies.... he just likes jetting around on Air Force One, living large in the White House, and saying "folks" a lot.

And those beholden to him for their jobs will say anything to get him re-elected. What was that secret campaign slogan again - oh yeah... "By any means necessary."

Like, say, by digging up a previosuly-widely-internationally-reported, long-dead terrorist and killing him again? Just asking.

The Bush great recession plows on an Republicans will increase poverty by cutting services while increasing military spending..

Unemployment rate above 8%+ for 44 months straight.
Gas above $3.55 for 42 months straight.
$21 TRILLION ( and counting) the total net worth lost in just the past 3.5 years.
Energy inflation at 12%.
Food inflation at 15%.
Home values the lowest in recent American History.
Retirement savings GONE, just to survive !
$6 TRILLION wasted in the past 3.5 years on criminal unions, auto manufacturers who produce unionized junk, European banks invested in Fannie and Freddie, States of Dim destruction, and the biggest losers of our tax dollars, Freddie and Fannie themselves !

And, brain dead snot eating jackasses actually believe that we're in the Economic Boom Years of GW ?!

No wonder Toledo, and all of America, is DEAD, in DEBT, and DESTROYED by the D- Criminal Party of AmeriKa !

Wolfie, how long does Obama have to be President before he has to take responsibility for what's going on? He's been President for about 3 and 1/2 years. That's about 88% of his Presidency.

Just give me a number, so that we can apply it to every Presidency. Apparently you indicate that no President is responsible in his first term. ~4 years aren't enough time in office to take responsibility. Naturally, this means the 2001 crash was Clinton's fault. Clinton was a Democrat.

Dogboy, you're hilarious. If you had an ounce of common sense you'd be dangerous.
4, FOUR, fucking years and you STILL try to pawn off the blame on Bush? You pathetic asshole.
