Obama to bypass representative government, dictate new gun control policies via executive order

"So we've been able to take some actions on our own, recognizing that it's not always easy getting things through Congress these days," Obama said.

Great; more executive orders, talk about an abuse of power.
Although, now that Obama has shown that taking unilateral actions, via executive order; is permissible. I wonder how the Progressive Liberals will feel about a conservative exercising his/her authority, and establishing their agenda via executive order.

No homosexuals in the military?
No homosexuals allowed living together?
Mandatory Drug tests, for food stamp, and welfare recipients?
Voter identification cards?

After all, it’s not like they can impeach them for it.

I don't know why he would try to prevent Americans from owning guns? I mean he's been the biggest promoter for gun ownership.... in Mexico!

I thought Bill Clinton flew in on a black helicopter and took everyone's guns already...

He was behind the assault ban in 94" ....not all guns...

about it ?!

When they came for the Jews, I did nothing because I wasn't Jewish.
When they came for the school teachers, I did nothing because I wasn't a teacher.
When they came...

History failures should never be allowed to post...

Every two years, the Republicans trot out emotional issues. During his 8 years in the White House, how many law-abiding Americans who were not mental patients lost their guns to the evil Democratic leader, Bill Clinton? Every American who wants a gun, owns one or more guns. About 20 years ago, the gun manufactureres did a survey which showed that every American male who wanted a gun, owned a gun. So, they started to manufacture smaller, lighter weight guns and targeted (no pun intended) females as new customers. It worked!
No one is taking anyone's personal defensive weapon away in America! Just to reiterate: I support gun ownership. My son-in-law is a gun owning, card-carrying member of the National Rifle Association. His father shot at and scared off a home intruder. BTW -- they are both well-trained with their weapons. I support both of them and all responsible gun owners.

Finally, nothing the government can do is going to protect us from crazy people! However, it is downright idiotic to talk about how if there are no guns available, massacres such as the recent slaughter in Aurora will be done with machetes, or some other weapon. Both sides on this issue should understand both of these facts. It is ludicrous to believe that any American President wants innocent peopple killed in our nation because of too much, or too little, gun control. Each President is looking to do the best job to protect us as well as he/she can.
Life is capricious. Let's spread more love and less vitriol. We should care more about each other each day we are above ground, because we can never know when health problems or outside forces will end our lives. Too many crazy people find a way to do crazy things.

I doubt anyone thinks the government is going to suddenly come out one day and say all guns are banned.
That's not how they work, they are incrementalists. If we let them they will chip away at our rights a little at a time.
They do things like use scary sounding names like "assault rifles" and ban those scary, bad weapons.
History proved that the assault weapon ban did NOTHING to reduce crime, so, tell me what WAS it's purpose?

In 1992, according to the Republicans, Clinton was going to take all of our guns away if he would be elected. In 2012, every law-abiding, sane citizen (and many who are not) who want a gun, owns one or more. That's a fact!
These fallacious charges are brought up in every election cycle to take attention away from the true Republican agenda. Emotional issues are used to divert attention from the real issues which affect the lives of average Americans. Republicans seek to further enrich the richest among us, collect as much taxes as they can from the shrinking middle class, and add more people to those living in poverty. This drives down labor costs so the richest among us can net more wealth! Statistically, the United States has the greatest discrepancy between what the average worker earns and what top corporate executives earn anywhere in the industrialized world!

floor at St.Charles Hospital !!!

$21 TRILLION and counting, is the amount of real Americans , net worth GONE, POOF, VANISHED, in the 3.5 years of Obozo and the Fascist Dims, absolute and total destruction of what we've endeavored to attain !

Home values, retirement monies, items sold to stay afloat, and you are whining about the most vapid non concerns that anyone facing foreclosure worries about !

Your World, of radical Liberalism and collective communism hasn't worked for Toledo, the former U.S.S.R., Venezuela, or anywhere !!

Keep trying though, History shows that school indoctrinators are among the first ones that Fascists, eliminate once they've consolidated complete power !

Good lord, you so full of it your eyes are brown. Show me where the Republicans are trying to get more taxes from one group over another.
It's the Democrats, even with all their talk about "fairness" who want to raise taxes only on the rich, who are already paying the majority of the federal income tax.
It's unmitigated redistributioin of wealth. They have to push it so they have enough $$ to keep all the low income and minorities on their plantation.

"We're all riding on the Hindenburg, no sense fighting over the window seats"-Richard Jenni

If a rich person makes 50 times as much money as I do, of course that person will pay more in taxes in actual dollars than do I. DUH!
But, according to Willard's tax return which he has made public, he paid a little less than 14% of his gross income in federal taxes. My wife and I paid a little less than 16% in federal taxes. Now, what's fair about that?

BTW -- That left-wing, pinko Communist Bill Kristol has joined the chorus calling for Willard to release several years of his income tax returns, much as his father did a generation ago when he ran for President of the United States. Kristol joins other liberals such as Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and former Mississippi Governor and Republican Party Chair, Haley Barbour! These liberal attack dogs are just so cruel!

"Now, what's fair about that?"

I agree, it's not, but it's based upon a core tax principle that can't be changed since few Americans want to change it: Capital gains are taxed at a lower rate than "income".

Anyone who structures their wealth increases as capital gains will always get away with a lower tax rate than the people who increase their wealth with "income". And most Americans love that difference, since (sadly) most Americans have this ridiculous little idea that their stock portfolio and houses will make them rich as Croesus.

If you have long term gains in excess of your long term losses, you have a net capital gain to the extent your net long term capital gain is more than your net short term capital loss, if any.

"DTOM" {1776} " We The People" {1791}

Before Ronald Reagan's Presidency, when marginal tax rates were much higher, 1/2 of long term capital gains was totally untaxed. The other 1/2 was taxed at the taxpayer's individual rate.
When Reagan got Congress to significantly lower marginal rates, he stated that a special break for capita gains was unnecessary. For several years, capital gains were taxed at the same rate as other income. The only reason that the 15% upper limit for capital gains was instituted was to give a gigantic tax break to the super-rich like Willard!
Reagan understood that there was no good economic argument for such a lowered rate on capital gains. All income should be taxed equally. As both George Prescott Bush and his father, Jeb, recently stated, with the views that made him President 22 years ago, Ronald Reagan could not even get the Republican nomination for President today.
