Better Parks-More Police

At the council hearing today on the planned 1mil levy for parks and recreation Lindsay Webb let it slip that this was going to be the selling point........better parks-more police. According to Ms Webb if the citizens just decide to tax themselves a little bit more council could give back $900k so we could hire more police to then patrol the parks.
She did not explain why if we have $900k we wouldn't just leave it there and use it for the parks instead of giving it back, or why citizens who already pay for the zoo, metroparks, imagination station, school playgrounds need to now pay to provide recreation programs for kids who care little about them.
Councilman Collins decided to try my patience at the end of my remarks and I think I was polite in my response. He was under the false impression that I did not support Fifth Third Field , which has nothing to do with today's meeting, and decided to try to make points by calling me out on that lie.

Sorry, but we're Taxed Enough Already. You can't get blood from a stone, although it's frightening to see how many Toledoan stones want to get blood from YOU, the real taxpayer.

Couldn't agree with GZ more. Trouble is, as Brian Wilson has pointed out, if it gets on the ballot there is no shortage of people willing to vote for it, mainly because THEY don't have to pay for it.

Does that carpetbagging Brian Wilson still have you fooled? He no longer live in Northwest Ohio. He only pretends to be from this area. Doesn't Huddleston Virginia need a second rated talk show host?

Do all the posters on here live in Northwest Ohio, or even Toledo? Is that a new requirement for participation in politcal discussions and comments on taxes? I wonder how that type of thinking fits in with SEIU, UAW, AFL-CIO, and Teamster members who travel state to state to get involved, like in Wisconsin.
I would think that Ottawa Lake would need a self serving blogger, there can't be that many living there.

Some of us can see this is all about shilling for your corporate handlers. Saying and doing silly stupid things is like going to the circus and watching stupid animal tricks. Too bad so many ditto heads can't see the difference because so much of our media is owned and controlled by these slick conglomerates. Well good luck in your silly media tricks Fred, a Glenn Beck you are not!. Too bad more aren't fully inspired and join you in your foolishness. At least then you would look as more of a leader than a clown.

Neither do you Paul, so if you dont have a dog in this fight or a vote in this ballot, why not STFU?

There's No Business Like Show Business lyrics

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know
Everything about it is appealing
Everything that traffic will allow
Nowhere could you get that happy feeling
When you are stealing that extra bow

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low
Yesterday they told you you would not go far
That night you open and there you are
Next day on your dressing room they've hung a star
Let's go on with the show...

The costumes, the scenery, the makeup, the props
The audience that lifts you when you're down
The headaches, the heartaches, the backaches, the flops
The sherriff who'll escort you out of town
The opening when your heart beats like a drum...
The closing when the customers don't come...

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know
You get word before the show has started
That your favorite uncle died at dawn
And top of that, your pa and ma have parted
You're broken-hearted, but you go on

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low
Even with a turkey that you know will fold
You may be stranded out in the cold
Still you wouldn't change it for a sack of gold
Let's go on with the show
Let's go - on with the - show...

I'm really trying to understand the posts from Ottawa Lake poster. Either I am driving public opinion and am wildly successful or my protests are failures and I have no power. I simply did what Bain Capital asked me to do. They are very concerned about the Toledo attempt to put another levy on the ballot and Grover Norquist had me sign the no levy pledge before I took this job, my hands are tied.
