Occupy Toledo oooops Sorry, Occupy Tehran......They Are Protesting The Same Thing

I should have realized it wasn't Toledo, there were more than 15 people involved and no issue 2 signs.

Hey Fred, I have a great idea for you.
Why don't you go over to Tehran and cover OWS from there? It would be great! You could show up with your camera and film their GA each day, then post it on the Internet. You could compare and contrast the two different Occupy locations. Please go...

Fred can't go to Tehran; WSPD doesn't do news. They simply pick it up from real news organizations and pass it on.
The model is this: spit anti-union venom and racist bullshit (in my opinion) on the air; back it up (or advertise it?) here for free on Swampbubbles, and watch everyone get all pissed off - especially "LibswhomIsecrectlywishwouldhavegaysexwithme," Zeitgiest (I'm a deep factory worker with a cool German name) and Mikey who has a very serious crush on Fred.
No, there will be no reporting coming out of Fred.

That's a great point progress, I am not a reporter.

....LibsCanBlowMe is my screen-name because it is a sign of total disrespect to Libtarded individuals like you.

Much like if I say "You Liberal commie pinkos can go ƒuck yourselves' or "I wouldn't piss on your head if your hair was on fire".

Think of LibsCanBlowMe as me telling you personally that I totally disrespect you. In other words, BLOW ME, go ƒuck yourself, Kiss my ass, Do the world a favor and DIE.

Get it? Or do I have to spell it out for you?

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

LOL

LOL,

Hey Fred, I don't listen to your show. Never really did.

But because I defend you against trolls and lurkers in here I have a crush on you. I M in wub wit U!

To be fair, I would defend virtually anyone in here against a troll or a lurker ('cept purnhrt, ok... probably even her too).

But on a serious note. You guys have GOT to get over your obsession with WSPD. It's not healthy.

Yeah there is media out there I don't agree with most times (MSNBC, NY Times, salon.com) but I don't harp over them as you do. Why? Because as much as I dislike their methods or their conclusions I recognize that our society needs them. I encourage them to speak out and report their side.

If you have a problem with Fred's show, as I do, I recommend you do what I do.... don't listen.

Petition WCWA or one of the other stations to pick up a more local show. I thought that's what the nookular option was doing? In fact I support doing more local shows than anything else. Instead Toledo media has fallen into the trap of the "morning zoo" format where anything wacky can happen at any moment. It's hacky and pathetic and just another indicator of the lack of original though of the majority of the people of Toledo. I cannot think of one Toledo station worth listening to anymore. They all suck.

And my observation has much more to do with what Fred doesn't do. He is the most sadly ineffectual local radio host I have ever heard of. He comes on this site and spits his hatred (while gladly accepting advertising revenue from the very sources he so loathes) in an attempt to get people to listen to his boring ass radio show. I just think that someone in his position would have something to say, would make an impact.
As one of my favorite radio blowhards would say - the room is just too big for him. He is not equal to the task. He was better as the doofus sidekick he used to be.
Oh, if you're looking for something good to listen to in the morning - toggle between 106.5 for Mike and Mike in the Morning and 91.3 - because NPR is great programming and it will actually make you smarter.

Honestly I never understood the entire "listen to the radio guy" thing. To me a radio was something for music, and in return you had to endure commercials which paid for the broadcast in the first place. If I wanted to obtain some guy's opinion, I'd read about it in a book. Then the 1990s swung in, and the music on the radio became a monotony, probably due to corporate consolidation and the revolting Grunge movement. So I turned the radio off, essentially permanently. Today I probably listen to a long-term average of 5 minutes of radio each year, not counting my Radio Shack weather radio gadget (I love that thing).

Around Toledo and its blue collar shops, I notice the radio being played, largely because the work being performed was manual and didn't engage the mind, even that done in offices, hence the mind was free to dwell on other things, which radio could feed. The most revolting of those fall into two categories:

1. FM 104 nonsensica.
2. Talk radio propaganda.

Neither are appropriate nourishment for the mind, which again comes back to Toledo's combined problem of delusional thinking and apathy.

"He comes on this site and spits his hatred (while gladly accepting advertising revenue from the very sources he so loathes) in an attempt to get people to listen to his boring ass radio show." Welcome to reality. It's not fair and it doesn't always make sense. Fred more than anything is a businessman. He sells himself. He will always sell himself to the highest bidder despite his opinions on the air. It's called capitalism and it works.

"Oh, if you're looking for something good to listen to in the morning - toggle between 106.5 for Mike and Mike in the Morning and 91.3 - because NPR is great programming and it will actually make you smarter."

Ok first you should be shot for actually trying to push Mike and Mike as "something good to listen to". I'd rather listen to the chalkboard scratching hour.

As for NPR, I do listen from time to time when the signal comes in here. No it doesn't make you smarter. That's where you liberals get confused between inteligence and informed. Listening to NPR makes you more informed, it has nothing to do with your IQ. People with higher IQ's tend to listen to NPR because people with higher IQ's want to be more informed. The problem with NPR is it is not entertaining. If NPR had to fund itself it would fail within a year, not very smart now is it. If you want information and entertainment I'd suggest listening to BBC radio which blows NPR way out of the water.

Interesting idea pay.

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

Probably not actually said by Ghandi: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. "

OWS NY started with less than 2 dozen determined folks, but for every one who can take the time away from life, family, jobs, etc. there are dozens who support the actual occupiers, here in Toledo too. Stay non-violent at all cost. Riots end, occupations last forever. (Just ask the tens of thousands of State Department guns-for-hire (at $150 k/yr) that will stay in Iraq long after the last troops leave.

OWS is an idea, an original one. Something Fred simply cannot relate to. He hasn't had one of those since his first erection.

Yeah but that was a hell of an idea. An original idea? OWS is not an original idea, the unhoused have made city parks thier homes for years. The idea that they are protesting is not new, protests have been going on since this country was founded. The idea that they have no leader and no focus isn't new, mobs never do. Exactly what about OWS is new Mark?

Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted.

OWS

OWS will not be successful unless they can find a way to transfer their message into votes.

The majority of the electorate are not going to sway their vote by a 22yr old college grad student who doesn't want to pay his student loans. I'm sorry that's just a fact.

In fact, what you're seeing is same disorganization and internal crumbling that the youth movement experienced in Chicago in '68. It wasn't successful then and it's not successful now.

So unless someone can convince me how the OWS protests can be converted into votes the movement will die.

And those votes have to be for candidates that actually enact change, to put a stop to the Bailout Economy. Going from D to R, or R to D, isn't going to do that.
