An Amazing Run For Democrats In Lucas County

Tagged:

News today first heard on my show that BAX Global is shutting dow as of Sept. 1. 700 jobs already lost. From the Port Authority release- "We are incredibly disappointed to learn that our partner for more than 20 years - BAX Global, a subsidiary of D.B Schenker Logistics (a German-based company) - will be phasing out of its U.S. dedicated air fleet and transitioning from operating its own air fleet to a non fixed-base model.
Toledo Express has a strong background in the global cargo market and it is the desire of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to continue cargo operations absent of BAX Global. The Port Authority continues to actively pursue various activities and opportunities relative to cargo development at Toledo Express. We believe the combination of the experienced existing workforce and the logistical advantages of the Toledo region and Toledo Express provide a strong framework for these activities.
The Port Authority lease agreement with BAX Global, guaranteed by D.B. Schenker, is effective through September 2013. In the coming weeks, the Port Authority will determine the impact this will have on Port Authority operations. "
Add them to the list of companies that used to be here, Electric AutoLite, Sheller-Globe Corporation, Champion Spark Plug, Questor, and Dana Corporation.
Congratulations to the Democratic party of Lucas County and the 40+ years of Democratic rule in Toledo that have brought us this progressive success.

No votes yet

Fred...either you are extremely ignorant or simply choose to rewrite the facts to fit your rant. The five former companies you mention were not driven out of Toledo by the Democratic Party. Mergers, buy-outs, poor business decisions, changing business patterns, and other
factors were to blame. To lay it all at the feet of the Dems shows your stupidity. I don't visit this site much anymore since it has evolved into a daily pissing match between you and the Wolfman. I sorry I took the time today. See 'ya.

Air cargo was seen as Toledo Express' bedrock business

Signs of trouble
A consultant says it ‘is not going to be easy’ for the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to find another company that could replace BAX Global at Toledo Express Airport. After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 and then as fuel prices shot skyward later, the company increasingly turned to trucking for cargo delivery, particularly in traffic lanes for which truck service was time-competitive with flying freight to Toledo, sorting it, and sending it back out. Domestic air cargo in general nosedived when the U.S. economy entered a sharp recession in 2008 for several reasons. They included the tailspin's particularly severe impact on the auto industry -- until then a major air-cargo customer sector -- and other customers' cost-cutting reliance on less costly modes such as trucking and, for overseas transport, ships. Early in 2009, DHL, owned by Deutsche Post, shut down its massive cargo hub and distribution center in Wilmington, Ohio, eliminating 7,000 jobs. DHL had previously closed cargo facilities at the Cincinnati airport after merging its operations with those of Airborne Express, which it bought in 2003. The 2007 bankruptcy of Kitty Hawk, another air-cargo carrier, left vacant a hub facility in Fort Wayne. Chris Ferrell, the co-author of a report issued last month on transportation trends, said many freight shippers simply haven't come back to air cargo since then even though their business is improving.

You forgot Seaway Foodtown.

Don't be so hard on Fred, he is just drumming up business for his radio show. Fred is no idiot. Do you really think he believes half the things he post here? He is following the glenn beck road to success, Get in front of a microphone , throw shit against the wall and see what sticks, then run with it. Intellectual zombies like libscanblowme take the bait and keep his ratings up. I thought all this was pretty obvious. Maybe I was wrong.

Well done. You have vomited up what George Soros and your owners in the Union have spoon-fed to you and ordered you to repeat.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

Fred, have you actually ever talked to brian wilson in person? If you have does he stutter and stumble when he talks most of the time like he does on the air?
