Sue from Toledo on Rush Limbaugh today.

So, was in the car today and caught a bit of Limbaugh in the drive thru at McDs. Lo and behold, Rush takes a call from Sue from Toledo...an usual syncophant caller these shows usually get. She claimed that Obama was the one that actually wanted to bomb Osama's compound but the military leaders convinced him to do the Seals raid. Then she criticized Obama for bragging (she used the word bragadocious 4-5 times in order to sound intelligent) that a treasure trove of intel was discovered and that it might tip off our enemies. After a few minutes, Rush finally understood what she was saying. This was preceded by Limbaush deriding the Obama administration calling them a "Regime". Sue probably forgot that when we caught the supposed leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq in 2006, a military official described after the attack that alot of data was found similar to the material found with Osama and media reports labeled it a treasure trove. I hear Hannity talk about the liberals having Bush Derangement Syndrome but are the right wingers like Sue afflicted with Obama Derangement Syndrome?

You're right Dave which is why we must keep military decisions from becoming politicized.

I doubt that the military would have pushed for a raid while downplaying a bombing. It's not the military's job to make the decision just to show the President the pros/cons of any military action. When I had a staff position that was what I did for my boss. I gave her options and showed her the cost of them. If I had a preference for one I would tell her but if wanted another or asked for/about another it was my duty to give her the full analysis.

I agree there are many on both sides of the aisle who don't have a full understanding of the military's role. I see that on this site on a weekly basis.

The hunt for Obama was an important mission. Both Presidents Bush and Obama hunted him as much as they could, of this I have no doubt. President Obama made a great decision to put boots on the ground (something I've consistently said we need to do on this site) and it proved to have been wise.

I do find it amusing the number of monday morning quarterbacks (most of which describe themselves as military enthusiasts... HA!) who have tried to explain military actions to me. Rarely does it extend beyond tactics and they tend to have little understanding of military or geopolitical strategy let alone operations and logistics.

Barack Obama: it is no longer essential to kill Osama bin Laden

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article55201...

CIA director says Marines made call to kill OBL...not President Obama.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/al-qaeda/8493391/Osama-bin-Lad...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Just a quick clarification. Navy Seals made the call not Marines.

Even though I know the Marines would have loved the opportunity.

You are correct...I mis-stated....Seal team 6 to be exact...Dick Cheney's death squad...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Quite honestly I don't know the full capabilities of the MarSOC teams as they are still fairly new. The Marines resisted more than the other services to putting up a special operations command because of the belief that the Marines themselves are a special command because we specialize in amphibious operations. Of course they changed their tune when they realized how much $$ SOCOM would bring in to the USMC.

Each special operation command is established with a set of capabilites which they are designed to accomplish. I didn't want to give the impression that the Marines would have a MarSOC unit capable of carrying out this mission. They may have one I just haven't worked closely enough with MarSOC to confirm it.

Knowing what we know about Obama's charge to Panetta to make it a top priority to kill Osama, perhaps, just like Bush, it was designed to trick Osama into believing that he wasn't the priority and was living in a cave which we knew wasn't true. We now know that this was 4-5 years in the making.

Your second link is totally out of context which so many extremist posters do to smear opponents and make themselves look better. If one would read the story, your headline about the link is so wrong, it's pitiful. It mentions that Obama administration ordered the killing of Osama but that during the actual raid Obama didn't give a kill order. Of course, he couldn't. It was up to the Seal's discretion to assess the ability to capture or kill him. You take one sentence totally out of context to spin it. PITIFUL.

Meet Paul Wolfarth of Ottawa Lake Michigan. That's what he does, and how he rolls.

He has the dubious honor of being the only poster out on SB to have been forced by an attorney to admit that a previous post was a lie.

Basically a liberal douchebag and not worth anything more than slight entertainment. Even the libs out here give him no credence.

"He has the dubious honor of being the only poster out on SB to have been forced by an attorney to admit that a previous post was a lie"

That was absolutely hillarious too...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Billy, both sides do it and I was more pointing out the BS in Zeit's remarks. That one tipped the BS meter off its dial. Both sides twist things to suit their positions no matter how much they have to take things out of context.

What BS?

Obama did not give the kill order.....that is established by his own CIA director.

If you have an issue with it...take it up with the white house...

It is what it is...a quote.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Just semantics you are playing with....the usual BS.

If the order was "secret"...how in the hell do you know about it?

A standing order to capture or kill OBL.and specific mission ops are two separate things...

The Out-of-Towner
While Bush vacationed, 9/11 warnings went unheard.

Quote from article:
"Roemer then asked Tenet if he mentioned Moussaoui to President Bush at one of their frequent morning briefings. Tenet replied, "I was not in briefings at this time." Bush, he noted, "was on vacation." He added that he didn't see the president at all in August 2001. During the entire month, Bush was at his ranch in Texas. "You never talked with him?" Roemer asked. "No," Tenet replied. By the way, for much of August, Tenet too was, as he put it, "on leave."

#1...you obviously didnt watch the video dogboy....the clip is 180 off your description...

#2....I had to read all the way through that conspiracy crap to read the correction at the very end...

to wit:

Update, April 15, 2004: On Wednesday evening, after the hearings, a CIA spokesman called reporters to tell them Tenet had misspoken: It turns out he did brief Bush in August 2001, twice—on Aug. 17 and Aug. 31.

#3....you are a tool....
