Look for the union label

For some time now, the left has been whipping up a boycott campaign against its favorite bogeymen, David and Charles Koch, billionaire owners of Georgia Pacific.

As the lefties see it, the Koch brothers fund conservative organizations and politicians, like the Tea Party — which means, according to Common Cause, that they are “moving democracy into the control of more wealthy corporate hands.”

(Common Cause, it should be noted, is itself heavily funded by corporate types, including the Kochs’ left-wing counterpart, George Soros.)

But now, a top official of the United Steelworkers union, International Vice President Jon Geenen, has discovered an inconvenient truth about the whole boycott campaign.

Seems the Kochs run one of the most heavily unionized operations in the country, providing some of “the best-paid manufacturing jobs in America.”

Which means that any negative impact said boycott might have on Georgia Pacific (which makes consumer goods like facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, etc.) could “make union workers collateral damage” and “the first casualties of a boycott.”

Oops.

Indeed, notes Geenen on the union’s Web site, 80% of GP’s mills are under contract with one or more labor unions.

Moreover, he adds, “while some companies are running from investment in American jobs,” Georgia Pacific “just reached agreements with its primary union . . . to invest more than half a billion dollars in capital . . . at two separate [US] union mills.”

Michael Moore sure doesn’t treat his employees that well.

All of which underscores that this boycott isn’t aimed at preventing “wealthy, corporate” types from political involvement, but only at repressing those whose political philosophy supports lower taxes and less government.

Hypocrites.

Proof once again...American labor is being played for suckers by American COMMUNISTS.

Looks like labor might wake up to the fact...

Shows why the term, "useful idiots" is so apropos.

JeepMaker the retired UAW autoworker and Zeitgeist the undisclosed union worker both complain of leftist Commie posters while enjoying the fruits of the very organizations that have given them a defined benefit retirement for JeepMaker and a job where Zeitgeist can surf the web without impunity on-the-clock. I find these two posters delusional as well as many Tea Party members who collect farm subsidies and Social Security ETC. Tea Party membership is dropping from recent poll results. I think they realize after the Republican governors take over that maybe their hopes and dreams are not that of David and Charles Koch billionaire Tea Party funder and promoter. Many who have attended the Madison Wisconsin rallies have been outspoken in their change of heart. We welcome all who will joins us against the assault on the Middle Class. The secret agenda is now open by what has been legislated; tax breaks for corporations and pay cuts and tax increases for working Americans. As this travesty unfolds over the summer I would guess more Americans will join us in fighting these corporate welfare and general anti democratic laws.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a

The Koch Bros are MORE pro union than the BLOCK Brothers...

LMAO!!!!

The "kill youself" stuff is over the top IMHO...

Even dog turds have a right to live...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Agreed. The "kill yourself" thing was over the top.
I was trying to think what a typical drunk angry Union hack like Wolfboy would do.

Don't blame me,
I didn't vote for a
socialist.

Dogboy?...he's a coward...he'd most likely toss a brick through your window at 2am, set your car on fire, poison your dog.....stuff like that...

Loss of down. Ten yard penalty. And a flag that throws you out of the game.
I come to S.B. to enjoy the name-calling and engage in it myself. But I have not heard "fuckface" in years. Thanks for bringing back warm memories, Zeit.

Patience is a great virtue.

He never answered directly when I asked him, but I'm guessing wolfboy spent most of his career doing some piece of cake union appointed job.

You act like it was the union that paid us. Yes they negotiated a good wage and benefit package, and for that they were paid very well. To think I'm supposed to kneel before the "union gods", well, unlike you I find it nauseating.

Never mind the fact that once retired, like us, the union has no use for us. That's why WE lost vision and dental care and had our co pays increased and not the active workers.

You mean other people are no longer paying for your vision and dental care? And your co-pays were hiked? What a cruel, cruel world. You say Wolfman had a "cake" job. What kind of back-breaking work did you do while turning out those piece-of-shit Jeeps?

Patience is a great virtue.

Well what did you expect? They can't get any more dues out of you.

Unions only look out for unions.

Hey, I still pay $2 a month.

And Don, I really worked. Jobs that would make you cry like the little girl you are.

P.S. Your dog committed suicide to get away from your psycho ass.

When your federal government is now permanently borrowing $1.5 trillion more each year than it spends, where do you think the money to pay for it all will come from?

Let's do that thing that Toledoans and in fact Americans in general are bad at: MATH. There are 300 million people in the nation, at roughly 2.3 people per household. That's 130 million households. That's about 12k excess government spending per household. That's over and above the spending that you're currently taxed to supply. The federal government has done this new level of obscenity for 3 years in a row, for $36000 that has to be paid for, again, over anything you're paying for today.

Where's that $36000 supposed to come from? It can't come from the printing press, since inflation is dead. The foul rich who took complete control of the federal government didn't work that hard just to watch their same crony government inflate their trillions in stolen money away. So it must come from higher taxes.

And it's even worse for your household if you pay income taxes to begin with. About 40% of the individual income earners don't pay the income tax, since they make too little, and the federal tax code is so massively inflated with loopholes. So at least 1/4 of those 130 million households won't be paying that $36000 regardless. Hence, it must be covered by the other 98 million households, so the per-paying-household amount rises to $48000, at least.

So if you're a household that pays federal income taxes, how can you just sit there and act like you don't owe that extra $48 thousand? Where did you think it was going to come from? It can only come from you. So there goes much of your savings and/or discretionary spending for the next decade or so. Kiss it all goodbye. You never tried to stop the obscene growth of government, so this imperial late-stage borrowing is your burden to bear. Frankly, you deserve it, therefore. You allowed this to happen. You continue to refuse to do anything about it other than bicker about inconsequentials.

You're good at numbers. They scare the fucking shit out of me. What do you do, sit there with one hand on the keyboard and the other on a calculator? And as always, your message is very upbeat. Brings sunshine into all of our lives. I'm trying to figure out if you're some rancid, bitter 60-year-old or a 20-year-old Nazi-wannabe. Either way, put on a CD you like, lie back and enjoy the music. Even if you owe the federal government $48,000.
P.S. We expect payment tomorrow.

Patience is a great virtue.

I'm good at numbers.

You're good at shooting the messenger.

The future will arrive with all the horrors you've purchased regardless.
