What An Interesting Idea For Toledo Public

Something that works. Why aren't more schools doing this? Who will be the first to charge racism?

FTA: "In the few weeks the homerooms have been meeting together, the mentors said, they've seen a change in their students."

There's no data that shows this method is effective because it's only a few weeks old. This is essentially a press release.

If you want to try something new with homeroom, how about eliminating it? That's what my high school did and we scored very high on state testing every year.

There's a city full of walls you can post complaints at

You don't have to be the first to charge them with racism. They admitted being racist in the first place. The assembled a Black-only classroom by intention, and then specifically excluded other races from having their own race-only classroom, to wit:

"No other students were divided by race, Jimanez said, although pupils enrolled in the school's English language learners program were paired with ELL teachers."

This program was proposed by a Black female coach. So it's just more minority racism.

Try forming a White-only classroom in any school system. Go on. I dare you. The Liberals would explode in rage over what you tried to do. But they propose Black-only programs all day and night. This is how insidious racism really is. Racism is the worst when it's accepted as normal in the subculture that it inhabits.

GZ, I think you are missing something with regard to racism. It's only racist when White Males do something like this. When any other minority group in the United States does this, it's NOT racist, rather it's called "sticking together".

Thank you, G-Man, for correctly defining racism. There is bigotry and hatred on all sides, but racism is most of all about the power to control others, a system of governance. And in the U.S., where power is rooted in money, racism is rooted in who has the money, who is in the majority, and who wants to protect and make more of the money. Racism exists in all countries. It's a natural order of things based on economics, whether in Africa, Asia or Europe. In the U.S., where whites control well more than 90 percent of the money flow, it's no wonder why they would not want to keep the system going. Racism, as you suggested, is more about money and control than skin color.

Patience is a great virtue.

I think everyone is racist to some degree. I don't think I am to racist. What I don't understand is why do we have a black history month? If there is a good reason then why don't we have a "Asian history month" or a "White history month" ? We are all supposed to be one in this country. Blacks for years have wanted and fought for equal rights and to be the same as anyone else. Having their own month dedicated to them separates them from the rest of us, which is exactly the opposite of what they were trying to achieve all these years. Its all about appeasement. The powers to be are always trying to appease some group, acting like they really give a dam about them. Screw that bullshit.

May is Asian-Pacific Heritage Month... It may not be a big deal out here in Toledo, but I was visiting San Francisco and they do a lot of Asian-Pacific activities, of course, as that is a large percentage of their population.

Somewhere around September/October is National HIspanic Heritage Month.

In fact, there's a whole calendar of heritage months, which include generally Caucasian-ethnic periods as well, like Polish, German, and Italian heritage month.

I don't get why people get so bent out-of-shape about events that are meant to be around building awareness and appreciation for our rich tapestry of histories that we meld here. Celebrating someone's past and heritage doesn't diminish one's own.

..and there is no official "White History Month". There is "Black History Month" and "Asian History Month", but no "White History Month".

In the strictest sense, (that is according to Darwin); "Black" is a race of humanoid specifically referring to the sub-set of humanoid in the Negroid family.

"Asian" is a race of humanoid referring to the sub-set Mongoloid.

"White" is also a race referring to the sub-set Caucasoid.

Here is the "evolutionist" website that supports that information.
"A human “race” is defined most often as a group of people with certain features in common that distinguish them from other groups of people. Currently there are three or four major “races” of humans, as the word race is commonly defined: (a) Australoid; (b) Caucasoid; (c) Mongoloid; and (d) Negroid. Generally speaking, the Australoids are considered a subgroup of the Caucasoids, simply because the two groups have so many features in common, despite the fact that Australoids possess dark skin"

So, if there is a history month for the Negroid race (Black History Month), a history month for the Mongoloid race (Asian History Month), when is the history month for the Caucasoid race (White History Month)?

Just askin.

....not pro-evolution.

And their article does not at all reflect current (or even really past) scientific thinking. It does not include any recent research into genetics. In fact, it's over twenty years old.

That does not answer your question, however. Some would say almost every month is a celebration of various predominantly white cultures, as it is what is the standard seen around you every day. It is 98% of what we learned in school, in all subjects, all told from the perspective of white america. It's what's the majority of television is about, and marketing campaigns, etc. The reason it is important to call out other cultures is because they usually get the short-shrift in terms of learning history and their place in our society. It's not about making them feel different, it's about acknowledging that they are important and valued in our society.

held in January, March, April, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December . That should be pretty clear.

I looked.
NOWHERE has "White History Month" been officially recognized.

Unlike "Black History Month" in which is officially recognized by Congress. "President Gerald R. Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, calling upon the public to "seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history." Since then, every American president has designated February as Black History Month and endorsed a specific theme."
http://www.nbccongress.org/spotlight/black-history-month.asp
"In 1986 Congress passed Public Law 99-244 which designated February 1986 as "National Black (Afro-American) History Month.”"
http://www.loc.gov/law/help/commemorative-observations/african-american.php

And also "Asian Pacific American Heritage Month" which is also officially recognized by Congress.
"Congress passed a joint Congressional Resolution in 1978 to commemorate Asian American Heritage Week during the first week of May."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Pacific_American_Heritage_Month

Show me the official Public Law passed by Congress that names "White History Month".

It should be pretty easy if America is to be "fair" and "inclusinve".

and you done got played.

She's playing a tune on your skin flute...if you are really good...granny will take her teeth out for ya...and her dreads double as handles...

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

sounds like a good idea to me, however probably wouldn't work at TPS. They have a dearth of black teachers.......
