If a tree falls in the woods, will it be turned into a Toledo Blade that people will read?

The Daily local in it's race to the bottom takes a comment out of comment and turns it into a politically incorrect statement. I am not sorry in saying that half the truth is 100% of a lie!

Wilson doesn't need my help defending himself. I am sure he will read the article, laugh and then go for an enjoyable walk with his dog. Can't beat the evening before where LSU danced on Texas A&M.

Personally I have stopped subscribing to this dish rag of socialist journalism after that shrew Marilou Johanek went after Bush during 9/11. I should have canceled it back when they were doing the winter soldier that attacked veterans.

This is not the lowest, they do it regularly. I had a good laugh when my Nephew's Girlfriend, a recent graduate of Journalism at Ohio University and a solid lib, complained that the Daily Local regularly crossed the lines broke the rules and printed editorial on the front page.

So, is this editorial or is it journalism?

If time and work permits I'll be listening to WSPD on Monday.

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

Mr. A.......Brian Wilson behaves like an idiot on air...makes stupid statements...and it is the Blade's fault? Your hatred has overruled common sense. I am of the opinion that Wilson's comments were scripted...knowing that the comments would cause an uproar and keep his doomed program on the air a while longer.

The Wolfman institute: Making sense of WSPD

The mumbling talk show host again makes fun of Toledo from the security of Huddleston Virginia. Brian will weather the storm and be rewarded with higher ratings and a bigger bonus check. The whole purpose of the station is to insight the dittoheads to listen. He has no allegiance to Toledo other than a paycheck. The more nonsensical, the better for the bottom line. WSPD should not be taken serious, it's more like Comedy Central than a News Station. Here is what Brian really thinks of Toledoans. http://www.brianwilson.net/
The further condemnation of Northwest Ohio is under the heading "Brilliant!" http://www.brianwilson.net/ and continues under "about comments" http://www.brianwilson.net/313

Toledo... he is playing you!

Is that anything like being played by the Block Brothers?

Both live in a swank neighborhoods in the Pittsburgh, also very far away from Lucas County. Both bully and pull strings in Toledo. Just ask the United Way!

When JRB says jump to (insert politicians name here) the elected troll lackey jumps and drives to PA to lick his boots.

Allen proudly comes home to Toledo to vote every election and is registered at an address in a furnished apartment located in the bowels of the Toledo Club. I think they keep the janitorial supplies there in that room too.

So Wolf Dog! I think the masters at the daily local are bigger frauds of what goes on in Toledo than your foil at WSPD who couldn't give a damn about your posts!

It's just so funny and sad to read the posts on their site for stories like this and see others make up excuses for their behavior and the Political Business as usual. I am glad we have voices like Fred and Brian to say to the emperor's on Superior Street, "dudes.... where are your clothes!"

Mr. Apathy

Yes I hear you Mr. Apathy and you have a point but consider this:
WSPD, on a daily basis, says disparaging things about The Toledo Blade and its publisher but then instead of hiring its own news team they glean 99% of their news from the pages of the daily Blade. If the Toledo Blade went belly up so would WSPD. I don't hear The Blade making up daily stories about WSPD. Its funny that the once and awhile story about WSPD gets this much spin.

Statements made are the opinion of the writer who is exercising his first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and are generally permitted.

Mark Standriff did the same thing?

The T.V. stations do the same thing. Where is your criticism of 24 or 13?

I have a picture in my mind of Tom Troy typing away his evenings at the behest of his Pittsburgh master. On the phone trolling for quotes. Two phones at his disposal, one for regular work and the other, a red phone direct line to the man with a bow tie.

With all the real news out there. Schools in disarray, unemployment high, companies closing up or leaving town, they choose to write about this! JRB, give Tom Troy a night off for crying out loud! It's bad enough he has to call around like a telemarketer at dinner time for a quote from someone we never heard of!

What's the matter JRB? Trying to get rid of the competition. Some of you are too young to remember the other times we had a morning journal in Toledo. It was called the Daybreak Dispatch. Before that it was the Toledo Times. The daily local saw to both of their destruction's.

The daily local has an agenda and WSPD is in the way. Oh, I tire too sometimes of hearing tales told of "my son the attorney," or the usual bloviating of the radio microphone. Wilson serves his purpose and he knows it.

It is entertaining this "News/Talk" format of our local radio station. I like the drama and it doesn't do any harm to have a second horse in the race!

The Toledo Times was owned by the Block family. It was the morning paper under the Block ownership at the time the Blade was the Block's afternoon paper. Are you seriously suggesting the Blocks didn't have the right to terminate a publication under their ownership? And by doing so they were somehow 'eliminating' competition?

The Daybreak Dispatch was about a five-page jokefest that had zero advertising and less subscribers. It was basically a freebie outta the newstand-box like the current weeklies.

Mr. Apathy, if you read the article, then you would have known that Wilson was contacted and was quoted. So much for your "I am sure he will read the article, laugh" He already knew it was coming and that he would be quoted in it. So, what's you pathetic point? Waa Waa the newspaper isn't fair waa waa - dry em up cry baby.

MAN FROM MAUMEE - calling yourself a man, doesn't make you one. You right-wingnuts are predictable. Try to be macho, and really wind up wimps.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Check out the transcript of what Wilson said:

http://www.toledofreepress.com/2011/01/09/wilson-critics-responded-to-bl...

For those of you, perhaps Wolfman, who might find it too hard to click on the above, here's the transcript verbatim. There already are retractions from people who reacted to what the Blade said, not what Wilson said.

“Then you’ve got as far as solving the problems of education in Toledo, you also have to look at the curriculum, which pretty much sucks, dictated by the federal government especially under the No Child Left Behind business, which now has teachers teaching answers to the tests, not concept, not individuality, not entrepreneurialism, not anything like that, of course some of that hasn’t been taught for years. But certainly, teaching little monkeys to peel bananas and so on and then doing it correctly on cue, does not mean that they’ve learned everything except a funny parlor trick.

“Similarly with children, just because you can teach them the answers to what are the capitals of the 50 States in America, that’s a fun exercise but it doesn’t teach them how to think, doesn’t teach them how to be objective, doesn’t teach them to be entrepreneurs and individuals and things along that order.

“So the curriculum then becomes an issue and while there are great teachers throughout every school system, there are some losers in TPS and they need to be extracted one way or the other, of course that brings us back around to the teachers unions.”

Brian Wilson is right to some extent when he says Toledo has a bunch of morons, when you interpret monkeys peeling bananas to a racial slur you got to be a moron..
